    The only thing I can say is I always take the drain plugs out first then the dipsticks it helps keep the oil from coming out all over your hands so bad.

      Good idea! Since recording this video, I've started poking holes in the filter to drain the oil out before removing it! Works great and helps keep oil from spilling over the floor.

    re: . . it's a screw. bolts have nuts to retain them.
    ps: cut a piece of cardboard, slope it down, to go under the oil filter and keep oil off your engine. Cardboard also works for an engine oil funnel, but cover it with alfoil so it doesn't go soft.

  • @johney4484
    @johney4484 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    You use dirty oil to coat the gasket of the oil filter? Not good. Why not use new oil?

    • @RidingandWrenching
      @RidingandWrenching  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The purpose of coating the gasket is easy removal and ensuring a tight seal. I'm not sure why you call it "dirty" since technically you cannot remove 100% of the oil from the engine without taking it apart and cleaning it. You can use fresh oil to coat the gasket if you like, but it doesn't make a difference.
