My son, Nathanael, is the boy in this video. We sure had fun with this. It's now 2015, and he's in his 30s. I still love watching the video, and I love the positive message.
She was very nice. Gave us a tour of her bus, and shared some insights on her work. The coat she's wearing in this video was something a good friend of hers found at a second hand store. Then her friend cut the shape and did some very intricate bead and embroidery work on it. That old coat could sell for at least $600.
This video has remained in my mind for over 20 years. The quaint little Mojave town of Randsburg CA. The desert doesn't get too much appreciation in the state. It's like a proto-Wonderhussy video❤❤❤
There isn't one female singer now (2018) that can compete with gals like Kathy, Patty Loveless, Pam Tillis, Mary Chapin Carpetner, and the list goes on. A nice country sound, and a song that you can relate too and enjoy. Just my .02
The 90's was the last of the great songs and artists!..Now a days most great artist can't fit into the Sugar Pop Country of today!!! That's all today's Country is...Pop Stars in cowboy boots..Blaaaah!
"The more we try to change things The more they stay the same" Country music that I grew up listening to in the 80's and 90's offered all sorts of invaluable advice. Thank you Kathy for being a HUGE inspiration.
This song and Walking Away a Winner are two amazing songs by Kathy. I wish there were more live versions of it on TH-cam. The mix on this album is so good. The music just sounds amazing. They sure don’t make it like this anymore!
Why is this not on Spotify :( One of the greatest memories of 1994 to me... Got the album back when, but don't got no cd player anymore, so not much chance to listen to it...
I remember Kathy. I remember Iowa's Best Country Kix 101 played the song in the mid Summer 94. So I remember I was upstairs in my room at Mom and Dad's, I sat beside the radio, I sang along 2 the song, I sang "Nobody's Gonna Rain In Carnival", Kathy sang "Train Is Leavin' and It Wont Come Back", I remember I was good at singing my made up words I sang "I have a fire drill".
This song came out when I was 7 yrs old.. I'm 23 now.. I used to have a guitar and used to play it to this song.... the things u remember when u hear a certain song
Great song. I remember thinking the drums at 3:31 were amazing as a child. As an adult, I've accepted that they're not that amazing, but I still drum along anyway. Take me back to the 90's!
Several months ago I was trying to figure out who the artist was and what song it was for a video I remembered from high school. This was it! Its not quite how I remember it, so I think I may have mentally merged two videos together in my head; but this is pretty neat that I finally found this.
@Neenockamockawok Nope- it's Johannesberg, CA- about 30 miles from where I grew up. I took pictures of the church and the whole town when I was taking a photography class at the community college. I still have the pictures.
OK, I did some extensive Google-Earthing on this video, and the white church and the post office and general store buildings I found in Randsburg, CA, NOT Johannesburg. The little white church is at the corner of Lexington and Butte Ave. I like doing stuff like this, don't think I'm a nerd :-)

She's a true legend. Your son was an excellent choice for the video. 🤗
Tell him thanks for me... one of the writers of the song... the video is aces!
Very cool! She’s a fellow Mountaineer.

I wish there were more positive country songs out there like this one. I've always said that 90s country was the golden era of country.

Written by Will Rambeaux and Brad Parker. It was released on July 18, 1994, as the second single from the album "Walking Away a Winner" (1994).
Kathy did us proud...
The music video was directed by Steven Goldmann, and premiered on CMT on July 28, 1994.
Love this song!
Love this song
This is probably the most joyous song in the history of the world!
this song is so nostalgic to me. It was my little kid anthem I was in elementary school, I would sing it all over school. >.

Aviano US base radio heard this song and liked it right away, being fun and hopeful.

Sorry, I don't know why that posted 2ce. It is Randsburg. Johannesburg is right next to Randsburg.
