Sure, we have near misses and close calls but it's down to your own skill and an occasional stroke of luck. Drove trucks for 40 years with no faith whatsoever and I'm still here to tell the tale. 🚚

Today’s the day! He has 391/2 years with UPS. I was his waitress in July 91 and went home with him in August 91. Married in Jan. 92. We’ve had 14 children to go with his first. Love this song and waited for the day it would be ours to play.
I would like to dedicate this song to all of those tireless road warriors who drive all over America's roads and highways to deliver our goods and services to every corner of the USA and beyond. America would grind to a halt without our truck drivers! May the spirit of St. Christopher go with you.
My wife is patiently waiting for this day, it's been 25 years on the road. My kids are all grown up and I've got 5 grandchildren. Love this song. Safe travels to all my trucker family out there, don't ever let the road take your family, always family first.
It's a nice song. I lost my Dad in September to Blood Cancer. In the comments I feel the same as the rest. Dad was a Mechanic on Offshore oil rigs in the Gulf. And He busted His back to give me and my Mother the best. He did His part now it's my turn to do mine. REST IN OUR LORD DEAREST DAD. 😢
I'm a Native combat sniper and though I might be an old guy now, I'm tougher than a bent nail, but this song makes me cry every time. KATHY MATTEA IS GREAT!
Playing this song for my Pappy Renshaw who was a trucker for 35 years and passed away December 14 to covid-19. I miss you dearly Pappy Renshaw. May you rest in peace
My husband was a long-haul trucker for many years. You have got to really work hard on a marriage when one of you is gone that much. Thank God he’s local now. Most people have no idea what drivers sacrifice to bring product to the warehouse.
My utmost respect goes to our truck drivers who keep our country moving. Also, they just don't make em like Kathy anymore. Pure classic country music gold. A wonderful singer
I lost one of my best friends on March 16th, 2024. She was a driver, as am I. We've both been in it long enough to be classified as ol' school drivers. We still use an Atlas, we did paper logs, and we ran manual trucks. We met only a few years ago, but our experience and experiences bonded us quickly. We talked for hours some days as we did our miles. This song was played at her memorial service, and I was so emotional. I miss her dearly!! RIP Trix... you were one of the best, and you are thought of often 💕❤️💕
Still listening July 2022. AND YES IMA A TRUCK DRIVER. 38 YEARS NOW. RETIRING THIS DECEMBER. Thank You Kathy. I wish I could a met her. 🤠🤠🌵❤️💯 SUCH A CLASSY LADY
This song reminds me about my wife. It was her favorite song before she lost the battling to cancer, I wish I could change the hands of time, I miss her smiles, she was always there for me and our lovely daughter, and I never miss a moment with her, life could be so unfair most times, there is some pain, I will cry in vain but won’t let you know how I will feel yes, I will miss you to the core! but some times i wonder why bad thing always happen to good people. She’s always in our hearts…
Im lucky to live near Wisconsin Dells, which has the Crystal Grand Theater, as well as a local casino that gets country artists in quite a bit. I've gotten to see Neal McCoy, Clint Black, Gary Allan, Charley Pride, Scotty McCreery, LeAnn Rimes(before she went pop), Sawyer Brown, Diamond Rio, Ronnie Milsap, and a host of others. Thankfully, we have a lot of fairs too to go to. Im working my way through the list. Unfortunately some of them are dying off before I could see them, like Don Williams. It's why I'm trying to get to more older artists when they're in the area.
I just finished my last run last night, and my nephew sent me this video congratulating me on my retirement. Now I can't stop listening to it.. Love it.
God Bless You for your comment. There are a Lot of Good Men that drive for a living only to be told by a woman "I don't want to fall in love with a Truck Driver". Your comment gives faith that there are Good Women left in this world.

My Dad was an OTR trucker for most of his life he passed suddenly on April 27,1982 of a fatal heart attack... he was 51... my best memories of him are riding with him out there on the interstates watching him shift and maneuver that 18 wheeler like a pro he was a great man, husband and father and great truck driver always willing to help a stranded driver or give a hitch hiking service man a ride....Miss you Dad... keep the pedal to the metal...
I love it she's wearing a George Strait shirt! Ronnie Milsap, Conway Twitty...all those guys. I miss their music played on the radio like it used to be.

Truck drivers are our unsung heroes ... For all of you listening and watching this video know there are people like me who are long haul commuters and each morning as I’m merging onto the freeway to make my 2 plus hour, nearly 100 mile trek to work I give the Lord thanks for all you truck drivers, and I pray for your safety, rich blessings and for your salvation. God bless you all.
I really think the trucker who brings his love a dozen roses as a "thank you" for putting up with being alone so much, so often, is beautiful. She knows she'll get both him and a dozen roses. How sweet. They're just two kids in old bodies, holding hands like childhood sweethearts. They are.
I saw Kathy and her band at the Nashville airport boarding the plane back in the nineties. This song brings tears, I greatly appreciate truck drivers , I work in hospital supply chain and depend on their service to get our supplies. All due respect to them always.
Used to see lots of these old classic country singer's buses out there on the white lines. Not so much any more. Give em a toot and a wave when you see 'em. I love this stufff
Atta girl Kathy! A man gives his life's blood to a job, to take care of his loved ones. 🌹🇺🇸🌹 Blessed to live country where hard working men will give you the shirt off their back, if you just treat ‘em square.

This brings back memories of my grandpa, who drove for 40 years. Gone are the days when two people got married and the woman stayed faithful and took care of the house and kids, no matter how long the man was away doing whatever it took to put food on the table, and was waiting on the front porch when her husband pulled in. You never see that with today's women. But when my grandpa died, he and my grandma had been happily married for 62 years. Sad that those days are gone....
I have been driving for 29 yrs an my beautiful wife takes care of it all when im gone ,yard work kids ,grangkids etc ,still call her everyday to tell her i love her
I just happen to find Kathy Mattea’s song 18 wheels and a dozen roses again it’s been close to 30 years since I last heard it play on radio takes me back growing up in the 1970’s when my dad was a trucker, a retired marine and a business owner before losing him in 2019 I can remember dad being gone for 2 sometimes 3 weeks in a row come home for a few days was gone again I miss you dad even as I got older getting to spend time with you out on the roads was always a high light of mine getting to drive your tractor in the different yards I enjoy my time with you no matter what we did years later getting to operate the family business along side you and my brothers was an honor wasn’t many family’s that had a landscaping company and all 3 of us kids worked along side you dad I still to this day am operating your company along side my one brother Charles and of course now we have 15 employees to do the work they were special times times that no one can ever take away from us I miss you dad I hope Charles and I have made you proud Dad thank you for all you did for me for us I know I’ll see you again until that day comes please just watch over us direct us in right way if possible George Louis Kelley September 15 1941 April 25 2019
I hear Kathy every now and then on "Mountain Stage" on the radio out of West Virginia. She still has her cool. My uncle wasn't an over the road driver. He owned his own dump truck and contracted to services in northern Georgia. I was born and live in Indiana, but whenever I went to Georgia, Uncle Bobby took me riding on a job. I miss him so much.
Dedicated to my wife's half-brother Steve and a friend I knew since elementary school, Robert. They're all big rig truck drivers and like me, are military veterans. We can't survive as a country without them.
I HAVE SUNG THIS SONG 100000000 TIMES AS I DROVE THESE LONELY HIGHWAYS ALL NIGHT LONG = HOPING THIS WOULD BE MY LAST RUN = AND = I COULD MAKE IT HOME == THIS SONG ACTUALLY KEPT ME ALERT AND ALIVE == YEP!! I FINALLY MADE MY LAST RUN = AND = MADE IT HOME == YEP !! I DO LOVE THIS GREAT AMERICAN COUNTRY SONG!!!!!
WE, the non-drivers of these big rigs don't realize how tough it is to do that type of work. Thinks about it, you really have to be alert at all times, not just your driving, the drunk on the road. I could never, ever be that focused, thus, I could never do it. But, hats off to those who can!!! Thank you!!!
My parents ran team for twenty years before my mom retired. My dad retired three years ago. My mom loved this song.... We lost her this past summer and now I cry every time I hear this song.

Your welcome it's a damn tough life but for a lot of us it's all we know keeping the family tradition alive it's especially tough when we have to come back out after only a few days with the family back home
My father has been a trucker pretty much my entire life and still at it today. It took me many years to understand why he does it. He has supported our family, my grandmother, aunts and uncles at times and never asked for a thing. A man does what he has to do to make sure his family is never without. I love you dad and thank you.
My grandfather was a trucker his whole life and his name was Charlie. He loved us and loved the Lord. I love this song because it reminds me of him. :)
Been a trucker going on 20 years, sometimes it's hard, not gonna lie. But even with everything I've seen and done, I wouldn't change it. Made me who I am and I'm damn proud to say I'm a trucker.
The country music of the eighties is impossible to top. Country music was just beginning its comeback, and it came back with a flair and style that would have put a smile on the faces of the old timers.
I love this song. It reminds me of my brother who spent so many years behind the wheel of a truck. Now he and his sweet wife have retired and have bought a ford cargo van and are making it into a home on wheels to see this great land of ours at a slower pace and off the interstate.
A great song. Reminds me of my Dad all too well, 3 million miles behind the wheel before his health grounded him. Still remember waiting to meet him when he got home from a long run. :)
Your dad appreciated it sooo much you're waiting for him to get home. He was "waiting" to get home to see you too, as I feel the same way when out on the road for awhile.
my dad always talked of his shipboard days in WWII and the trip to Japan that was cancelled with the end of the war. The other talk was that of family and his trucking. That Jimmy V6 screaming, the boss giving him one dollar for fuel for a load and he soundly rejected, the time a rock set the air valve open and he ran a load of tomatoes out of the ozarks without brakes, hugging the tight curves and finally making the straightaway to see family. Then out for another turn.......................god bless him and all hard working Americans................

Eternity will not be about any of us or what we have done. It will all be about Jesus Christ who died on a cross to save us from our sins. We all deserve hell and then the Lake of Fire that burns with sulphur and fire on Judgement day.
Sure, we have near misses and close calls but it's down to your own skill and an occasional stroke of luck. Drove trucks for 40 years with no faith whatsoever and I'm still here to tell the tale. 🚚
@@grahamlive But, driving a truck will not save your soul on judgement day. That is the difference. Only Jesus Christ died on a cross to forgive us of our sins and all we have to do is believe and accept what he did for us on the cross to be saved.

I'm not a trucker......but I retired today. Great song.....brought a bunch of tears to my eyes. Thanks Kathy Mattea.
God Bless you and your whole Family

My husband was a long-haul trucker for many years. You have got to really work hard on a marriage when one of you is gone that much. Thank God he’s local now. Most people have no idea what drivers sacrifice to bring product to the warehouse.
My utmost respect goes to our truck drivers who keep our country moving. Also, they just don't make em like Kathy anymore. Pure classic country music gold. A wonderful singer
Yes exactly.
Michael, you got it right on both of your statements. 👍 Thank you

They don’t make truckers like they used to either!
i was an over the Trucker for about 33 years, i Retired in August of 2016, Dedicated this song to my wife for48 years
I lost one of my best friends on March 16th, 2024.
I been driving 30 years now and I retire on Monday 26 June 2023. It's been good but I am 71 years old now and it's time to go.

She also seems like a genuinely nice person as well.
God I miss this kind off music . No one is this smooth anymore . No one makes me want to dance . Though with my feet that might be for the best

Seen her live in London years ago, she was great.
Thanks to the Front line men and women who keep this country and world going The truckers and working class people ❤❤❤❤

I really think the trucker who brings his love a dozen roses as a "thank you" for putting up with being alone so much, so often, is beautiful. She knows she'll get both him and a dozen roses. How sweet. They're just two kids in old bodies, holding hands like childhood sweethearts. They are.
