  • Northern Ireland isn't the problem lads. Northern Ireland is a brilliant place with amazing people. Brexit is the problem. It was true back in 2019 when I recorded this. And it's true today. Comedian Jarlath Regan reflects on what Brexit felt like for a lot of Irish people.

    I can't help thinking it's not so much the person you're barely connected to demanding that you leave the party with them, it's your abusive ex who doesn't understand why you threw them out and changed the locks.

      @@kevin8391 No and there was a civil war over the partition of Ireland. It divided the population into pro and anti treaty. Some argued that some independence was better than none. Others that it had to be all or nothing. The 6 counties that remained part of the UK were the most prosperous and it was the real reason they were kept by Britain. They were also populated by the most pro union advocates of the UK.

    Excellent. When I first heard that some British people expected Ireland to leave with them, I thought it was a joke. Then I found out they were serious!
    Just unbelievable. It would never happen, not even be considered by 99.9% of Irish people.

    With the complicated history of Ireland itself and the complicated relationship between the English and the Irish if the politicians thought Ireland would join Brexit they’re sorely mistaken.Im Australian with an Irish heritage and even I know better

I don't think he realised he'd OD'd, and as I remember it, he was just about dead on arrival. If he'd gone to the A&E instead, they might have been able to save him.

    I live in the UK and can honestly say that if Brexit weren't talked about ad infinitum in the meeja, I wouldn't even know it's happened. Same job, same wages, same life, same crap on tv, same weather ...
    Everyone's snarling about foreigners? Nope. Same Polish people, Spanish person in work and Joe, the Hungarian security guard who thinks he's Casanova even though he must be over 70. Everyone gets on exactly like 5 or 10 years ago.

      Yeah, not quite. I'm Polish living in the UK and for 3 months after the referendum there was a Polish person killed almost every week simply because he, and it was mostly blokes, spoke Polish in public. I envy you your ignorance if you think nothing has changed.
