As an irish person, can confirm i can't be fully sincere. I'll try to be serious but then ill see an opportunity for a joke. Trying to be serious for to long will make my skin crawl because then i'll have to face the cold dark reality... Which coincidentally also describes Irish weather.

Dublin airport is full of hares, in the last 25 years there's been over 300 hares struck by planes. I thought this was a very well known fact. I guess that means it's common enough for it to be acceptable for tourists to tell it as an 'irish' story.
Yeah Dara's view of Ireland is really strange. like north county Dublin has hares everywhere. Dont be esurpised to see a horse either on the road.

I live in Cobh, a very “Titanic” centric town. Funny thing, there used to be a great Thai restaurant in Midleton, which is 20 minutes from Cobh. The restaurant was called Thai Thani, but our Cobh Irish brains thought it was Thai Tanic….its sadly gone outta business after covid, but we always called it the Thai tanic😂😂😂😂
When I go down to Dublin from County Down in the North, I always play up the tourist crap/sentimentality for a laugh at any sightseeing trap. I was overdoing it a bit once, and the Dublin local in charge gave me a "feck off mate" and we both bust out laughing, it was done and said in a friendly way, although the tourists may not have initially realized it.

To be fair the ‘many bothans died’ scene in ROTJ is still much much better than 99% of all every scene in any starwars scene made since Disney took over.
When I was back in Cork in ‘80, I was asked had I read Watership Down? I said I had ! And had I saw the movie? I did , it was great! But had I tried the stew??

that's such an odd clip, every time i look at it I wonder if it's a grumpy comedic persona or if he's , understandably, visibly annoyed at having to go through these social media hoops to avoid audience dip or some sort.... maybe the truth lies in between

Funny thing is, they later made a movie that was all about stealing the plans for the Death Star. And there weren't even any fucking Bothans there!
There were 2 Death Stars (yes, very original). The line about the Bothans is about the 2nd Death Star, the film you're talking about is about the first.
Thats because too many of them died!

My great grandmother was Boston Irish and man-oh-man could that old lady do maudlin. Two bars of "When Irish Eyes Are Smiling" and she'd be a puddle of cheap sentimentality. Five seconds after it was over she'd cuff you behind the ear and berate you for not bringing her enough ice cream.

Dublin Airport grounds are actually protected because there is a very large colony of Irish Hares that breed there. It was far more likely a hare you saw not a rabbit I've actually seen two or three hares sit at the edge of the runway and watch the flight land
