It is really frustrating that people spend frankly crazy money buying collector’s editions and they put the discs in trays seemingly designed to eventually destroy either the disc itself or the box.
Anime LTD didn't think through package design well. It really pissed me off when I had to pull the disc. In normal DVD case, you just press the center button to release the disc.
the art card of the YF-19 and 21 crossed over each other with the Sharon Apple chain logo in the background is the cover of a 2019 Blu Ray box set, and the one of the YF-19 flying away from the Macross is box art for the Hasegawa YF-19 model kit. Both pieces by Hidetaka Tenjin
Hi there, I have the same box set as yours and I have a different opinion. 1. When cutting shrink wrap, I carefully cut the wrap with a hobby knife on open side of the box so that box is still in shrink wrap. If you do it right, such method doesn't damage the content inside. 2. Box is about the same size as Japanese Laserdisc boxset which was released in 1994. 3. In my opinion, art cards are just a space filler for the box. Their print quality is inferior and art cards don't match with what's on the Crunchyroll website. 4. I wish they should've used separate disc holder for the discs, instead of art cards. 5. A4 size poster is just a half-as$ gimmick. They could've used both sides to make it look like "official" concert flyer loaded with information. 6. Artbook is translated from originial Japanese bluray release, which I really appreciate as a hardcore fan of the show.
I got mine sitting here still sealed and unopened. May just send this back to Crunchyroll. For the price I paid, I'm not impressed with the disc packaging to say the least. Was hoping for some sort of case to put on my media shelf separately with the box set. I'd have to spend time and money putting it in its own Blu Ray case on top of the $200 I paid? The worst part of this is the fact they are not even shipped securely in sleeves. There's close to a 50% chance you're already going to have a micro scratch or two on discs when packaged in this manner. Let alone risk breaking the disc when snapping it out. No thanks, none of this is worth the risk. I don't even care about the art or the books. Back to my VHS copies from the 90s I guess.
Let me guess.. You made impulse purchase and now you're regretting it? I don't notice any disc scratches on mine. I just take out the discs and put them in empty DVD case for easier access and this way I don't have to pull out the artbook everytime I want to watch it.
That packaging of the discs looks horrible. Once you take them out, you may not be able to put them back in without damaging them or the book :( Shameful

Their Art card selection is misleading. They could've put Tenjin's artwork in the artbook instead of putting them inferior print quality art card.
Mine’s about to come in the mail today! Took like 3 years but glad we can finally watch this movie again after that one day theatrical release

Those disc holders are fairly terrifying and dismal, not sure how that passed quality assurance. Otherwise, the set seems stunning.
They hired probably some 3rd party QA/QC company to do it, and they don't give a rat's ass sadly.
@@tom11zz884 I have a feeling that art book is from China.
Mine arrived today!!
I just receive mine today (france)
It’s really nice. Can’t wait for mines to arrive!
And then he lays the discs movie side down. Getting those off the table without scratching them...good luck.
Folks don't seem to think about those small details.
He should've used microfiber towel when laying down the discs like that.
Got mine today

I think a lot of people will end up with scratched discs. $200
Not really. There is a trick to it. You press the center part hard while pulling the disc.
