Overpriced and overated. This is a terrible value, the video is only 1080p. This is not a modern release or remaster in any shape of form, its also not a "limited". Wait until it hits $30 ot wait for a proper remaster.

I love that there's people out there putting so much effort into a physical release of such a weird little cartoon most people don't care about.

This was really well done, nice to see someone putting so much effort into physical media release reviews.

Knowing who owns Crunchyroll, we will never see a regular Blu-ray version: after all, the need to nickel-and-dime owners is a part of their norm, especially when they're looking to control the distribution side of anime now that they're intending to buyout Kadokawa.

Really hope a normal case edition comes out. I like the OVA and would love an upgrade from the Manga DVDs but this is just way too much and too expensive.

If people want books like this, why arent they just sold separately?

Hey what if you have a Japanese account instead of Singapore and the Asian version can you access the DLC? Also it seems the Japanese version has an English option which makes sense given that the game is made for Japan and Asian region and it's a Blu Ray disc ROM...

Hi there, I have the same box set as yours and I have a different opinion. 1. When cutting shrink wrap, I carefully cut the wrap with a hobby knife on open side of the box so that box is still in shrink wrap. If you do it right, such method doesn't damage the content inside. 2. Box is about the same size as Japanese Laserdisc boxset which was released in 1994. 3. In my opinion, art cards are just a space filler for the box. Their print quality is inferior and art cards don't match with what's on the Crunchyroll website. 4. I wish they should've used separate disc holder for the discs, instead of art cards. 5. A4 size poster is just a half-as$ gimmick. They could've used both sides to make it look like "official" concert flyer loaded with information. 6. Artbook is translated from originial Japanese bluray release, which I really appreciate as a hardcore fan of the show.

the art card of the YF-19 and 21 crossed over each other with the Sharon Apple chain logo in the background is the cover of a 2019 Blu Ray box set, and the one of the YF-19 flying away from the Macross is box art for the Hasegawa YF-19 model kit. Both pieces by Hidetaka Tenjin

No blu ray case is such bullshit.

I got mine sitting here still sealed and unopened. May just send this back to Crunchyroll. For the price I paid, I'm not impressed with the disc packaging to say the least. Was hoping for some sort of case to put on my media shelf separately with the box set. I'd have to spend time and money putting it in its own Blu Ray case on top of the $200 I paid? The worst part of this is the fact they are not even shipped securely in sleeves. There's close to a 50% chance you're already going to have a micro scratch or two on discs when packaged in this manner. Let alone risk breaking the disc when snapping it out. No thanks, none of this is worth the risk. I don't even care about the art or the books. Back to my VHS copies from the 90s I guess.

That packaging of the discs looks horrible. Once you take them out, you may not be able to put them back in without damaging them or the book :( Shameful

Those disc holders are fairly terrifying and dismal, not sure how that passed quality assurance. Otherwise, the set seems stunning.

It is really frustrating that people spend frankly crazy money buying collector’s editions and they put the discs in trays seemingly designed to eventually destroy either the disc itself or the box.

Also i didn't think you needed to mute the audio it is just the original Japanese OP playing on a loop the official channel who did the anime uploads the full uncut language episodes with the OP and ED to many users uploaded it just an FYI

I've had this set for a long time. I'd wished they do more Original language or for unknown forgotten animes...

Your on the disc video on the Sonic X Japanese Language Collection Blu-ray is blocked due to copyright issues from TMS Entertainment. Is there any other way I can watch it?

Anazon its £11 rifht now . Zavvi still £19. I noticed there a ultra version were the back is different looking on TH-cam.

I'm newer to anime on BD. I've only owned and watched Cowboy BeBop on Blu-Ray but that's played in English in the U.S pretty standard. I found Sailor Moon streaming on Freevee and Pluto for free but unfortunately it's just the Japanese audio with subtitles. I generally prefer dubs because then I can pay attention to the image, if I watch a subtitled version, I end up spending most of the time reading and don't feel like I get to watch and experience the show nearly as much. So I'm very glad this set is complete with many different ways to view it to fit to the viewers needs. I also like that if I do want to go watch the show with the original Japanese audio and English subtitles, I have that option. Great job Viz!
