Welcome to the Celebrity fan club! We have only been on one Edge Class, the Edge, during her inaugural year. I hope to sail on the Beyond, Apex or Ascent soon. Thanks for watching!
❤ Thank you for making this video. I been looking for a cruise that has a well manner travelers base. Because I've seen some crazy stuff on carnival to the points of brawls and this is why i avoid that cruise line. I have been on Royal Caribbean twice and so far it's been decent but I have seen some crazy folks for time to time that don't behave or even dress appropriately . After seeing this video im sure my wife and i would like to give celebrity a try trust me we need a break after working long hours in the medical field. Now that being said is there any activities for my kids that are at the ages of 18 and 13??
I am on Celebrity this week and the demographic is very well behaved and upscale. We love it and I am sure that you would too! There are lots of activities around the ship that your kids can participate in during the day and in the evenings. There is a teen club with video games and activities too. There is not as much as with Royal Caribbean but still a good amount. Thanks for sharing and for watching!
I really like Celebrity also. I just returned from a cruise on Celebrity Eclipse sailing from Los Angeles and cruising down the pacific coastline of California. It was an amazing cruise. Very laid back yet fun, good fun and entertainment, great service. I agree on Celebrity being a wonderful cruiseline.
Thanks for sharing! We are sailing Eclipse this coming fall for New England and Canada. I am glad to hear that you had a wonderful time. Thanks so much for watching!
A holiday sailing on the Ascent will be an amazing experience!! You chose wisely so take your time, relax and enjoy! There are several areas to explore and experience so don't feel that you need to go into overdrive and get it all done in a day. I hope that you feel the Celebrity "chill" vibe that I love while on board. Have a GREAT first cruise and thank you so much for sharing and for watching!
I agree. I love the vibe of Celebrity. It's not stuffy or "stuck up", but as you said, nobody is there for the amusement park type fun. I've never experienced the rowdiness and kids screaming that I've felt on Carnival and Royal Caribbean. (On my last Royal Caribbean cruise last year, whenever I went out on my balcony, I was always assaulted by the kids next door screaming incessantly.) In fact, it seems like there aren't any kids on the Celebrity ships I've been on. I don't recommend Celebrity for kids as I think they would have a better time on the other lines - unless they like quiet activities. I'll be going on my 8th cruise with Celebrity in January. If people ask me for advice on cruise lines, I don't hype Celebrity because then they might be grumpy as some of your posters are.
I am glad that you enjoy Celebrity the same way that we do. The vibe is very hard to explain but when you are on board you get it. Depending on the time of year, you could experience more or less kids onboard but one thing that I have noticed, is that they normally are very well behaved. I don't think that there are a lot of things to do for kids so there are several other great choices for a family cruise. Have a great January cruise! We are actually looking at a Jan or Feb Celebrity sailing too! Thanks so much for sharing and for watching! I have several other Celebrity videos on the channel.
I think it depends. I did a group cruise on the Constellation and one on the RCL Explorer of the Seas. For a fun group cruise, the Constellation was staid. It just wasn't lively enough. The Explorer was fun without being tacky. Some things bordered on tacky but were more campy than tacky. And there are plenty quiet things to do on RCL, they really offer a huge variety of things. But for a more laid back cruise and quieter, sometimes much quieter, it's Celebrity or HAL. Maybe Princess but I'm not that familiar with them. As far as kids, some might like Celebrity. It all depends on the other kids on the ship. But there are more fun things for most kids on RCL, NCL or Carnival.
We like Celebrity cruises. It is affordable and gives you the service you want. WE have our 4th cruise in May of 24 sailing out of Portugal. We are taking our grown family with us. They will be treated like adults. Celebrity, is very good about accommodating to food allergy. A lot of choices. The pastry chef even, went above and beyond and made me coconut macaroons. Aqua class is in it self a classy option for those who choose it. Thank you for your comments.
I'm so glad that also enjoy Celebrity! They are great at accommodating food allergies and sensitivities. Have a great time with the family in May and thanks for sharing and watching!
Celebrity will be a nice change for you. The ships will not feel as crowded and it is a very different, more relaxing vibe. You might see a significant price difference though. Good luck and thanks so much for sharing and for watching!
I’m late 30s, my husband is late 40s. We first sailed on celebrity 10 years ago and loved it. No kids is a huge appeal to us as we don’t have children. I’ve looked at other lines, but celebrity definitely fits our demographic
Our first cruise was on Celebrity and don't even want to look at any other line! I've been on three of them and love them. 1. They have plenty of activities if you want to do stuff 2. Lots of areas to chill and relax if you don't 3. The food is amazing 4. The crew are wonderful 5. Love all the art on the ships 6. Not snooty, but not a party ship either - nice balance 7. We don't have kids and for us, the lack of kids is a plus. There are always kids on the ship but not too many. 8. We can afford a veranda room and don't feel like we're spending an arm and a leg. It's definitely a special thing for us that we can actually afford! 9. Celebrity itself has been very kind when we needed help. We put in a bid on an upgraded room and got it! Super excited! EXCEPT, it was literally right next to the bridge windows and you would have no privacy from bridge staff if they were near the windows (not that they'd care to watch us). My husband is super private so we went and talked with Customer Service and they totally swapped us into a more private room without any issues. This is while we were basically almost underway too.
An extraordinarily well done video: You obviously put a considerable amount of time and effort into creating it, and I, for one, greatly appreciate it as I look forward to my first Celebrity cruise.
Thank you so much! I appreciate that! I am working on a new Celebrity Eclipse review which will be out soon. I wish you an awesome cruise! What itinerary and ship are you sailing? Thanks for sharing and for watching.
@@seemoreseascruises3791 Hi again, Doug! I'm terribly sorry, but I hadn't see your kind message until just now. I'm sailing on the Infinity Constellation leaving Tampa on 21st November and sailing to New Orleans, Roatan, Costa Maya and Cozumel, returning to Tampa on the 30th. I'm very looking forward to viewing your Eclipse video - an Edge-class ship, I believe. At this stage in my life, I'm afraid I need to stick to entry-level Celebrity: the old girls! 😁
We are booked on the Edge to Alaska next May. Last week upgrading from the Classic drink package to the Premium drink package was priced at about $20pp/pd. I just checked the website and found that the price had dropped to about $7pp/pd. I'm just here to let you all know that there is a sale on.
We just returned from a 5 day Bahamas and Mexico Celebrity cruise aboard the Summit. It was during Halloween which was a lot of fun. Exceptional experience. Ship was clean and comfortable. Lines were never too large. Buffet was very good, especially the Indian food. Main dining was quite enjoyable, with classic offerings every night and a changing menu for something different. A couple of the dishes were just okay, but the rest were very good. The steak Diane was our favorite. Absolutely tender and delicious. The coffee was Lavazza at the buffet and was delicious, with cold half and half always available. Staff was outstanding, especially our waiter Minano and our room attendant Niry. Cookies were absolutely free and delicious. Behind the scenes tour of the ships kitchens was a lot of fun. Overall, we had an amazing time. Highly recommended. We’ve already booked our next cruise with Celebrity on the Apex in 2025 for the Norwegian fjords. We can’t wait! Celebrity was recommended to us by frequent cruisers of many lines and we could not of been happier with our decision. Thanks for an amazing time Celebrity. Fans for life! 😊
It is so wonderful to hear that you experienced the Celebrity Cruises that I know. Reports of the decline in food are absolutely real to those who have experienced it but I am thrilled to know that you found most everything very good. The Apex for the fjords will be a very special experience! Thanks so much for sharing your experience with Celebrity - and thanks for watching!
Most of what you like about the premium look, feel, dining, etc, almost equal what you might find on Oceania or Viking. They are both less expensive than Regent, Seaborn, Silver Sea, etc. But they have virtually no lines, and their ships are either 930 or 1,200 passengers. Multiple restaurants at no extra charge. Basically all adults. We like these two best, though we will be trying the Retreat in spring on the Beyond. Yes, Celebrity does have better entertainment.
Celebrity does have some similarities with the more entry level luxury brands. I'm actually working on a comparison of the premium brands that you might like. I am sure you will have many comments for me on that one. I am planning to include Oceania and Cunard. I enjoy The Retreat on Celebrity especially due to Luminae, the dining room. Thanks for sharing and of course for watching!
Very excited to sail 🚢 onboard Celebrity for the first time this summer and I know my teen will still enjoy since one port of call is Coco Cay Great video ❤
That is great! The shorter cruises being offered by Celebrity are a good mix. You get the premium service levels while your teen will have plenty of options at Coco Cay as well as the pool and teens club onboard. These sailings will also have more families onboard due to the itinerary. Thanks so much for sharing and watching! Have a great time!
Thanks for the video. DW and I are scheduled for our first Celebrity cruise on the Apex in February. Will we be able to talk to the maitre 'd and reserve a set time and table in one of the 4 restaurants? We much prefer set-time dining, like knowing where we will be sitting, getting to know out wait staff, etc.
On Celebrity Edge class ships you can choose a fixed time dining or Celebrity Select (anytime) dining. If you have pre-selected a fixed dining time, you will be assigned one of the 4 dining rooms with the same table and the same wait staff for the duration of your cruise. You can select any of the other dining rooms upon request assuming space available. See the maître 'd upon embarkation day 1 in order to confirm this. You will have a different wait staff in the other venues. If you have selected Celebrity Select dining, I highly recommend that you go on your cruise planner and immediately go to dining, select the dining room that you are interested in for that specific day and reserve a time. If your time is not available, choose a different main dining room for that day which has the time available. You can always walk in with Celebrity Select but they may point you to a dining room that has current openings at that time. You should not have any problem if you meet with the maître 'd on day one. Enjoy your first cruise on Celebrity - Apex is a great choice!!
I guess so but the more traditional Solstice class is better for that. the Apex is an Edge ship, a departure for Celebrity. I do think TAs (travel agents) should make it clear to first-time Celebrity cruisers the vast difference between an Edge class ship vs. a Solstice or Millennium ship. They're two different worlds AFAIC. It's not just new vs. "older." But I do think the days of dining with the same wait staff and tablemates are pretty much over on most lines.
I can't agree more! Although we "only" cruised 4 times till now, three were with Celebrity, and the last one, just before Corona, was with Holland America. The different in service is summed up in this sentence: Ask someone from both cruise lines to please jump for me. A HAL service person will ask: "why?", but a Celebrity staf member will ask: "How high?". Next summer we booked on Celebrity Silhouette and we are looking forward to it!
I find the service on both comparable and the overall quality comparable. It really depends on when you experience the ship and the captains and crew with either line. Celebrity and HAL are different styles but the level of quality is similar IMO.
Yet another excellent video. Thank you, Doug! Faye and I are super excited for our 2 Celebrity cruises this year and thanks for always knowing the REAL hidden secrets about the cruises and the ships! 🙂
I just got off Celebrity Silhouette today and the service from the first step on board to last every staff member was fantastic. So exceptionally warm welcoming friendly and accommodating. Everything was fantastic actually.
So happy to hear that you had a fantastic experience! We have sailed on Silhouette the most of any of the Celebrity ships. Thanks for sharing and of course for watching!!
I’ve sailed on Disney Cruise Line several times and just got off my first Virgin Voyages cruise. I sailed Celebrity (Alaska) but that was years ago and sounds like things have changed a lot. Do you have a video that explains the different classes of ships?
I hope that you enjoyed Virgin! it is a great experience. I do have an early video that shows the different ships in the Celebrity fleet. th-cam.com/video/QyAvPOmsHqY/w-d-xo.html Thanks so much for watching!
It is a great choice. They do a very good job and the ship is very accommodating. We sailed the Solstice for our Alaska cruise! We had an aft corner Sky Suite. I was amazing to have both starboard side and aft views. Check out that video too.
My wife and I just experienced our first Celebrity cruise on Equinox and it was very good. Especially the service, food and entertainment. We enjoyed it so much we booked while onboard another 11 day cruise in early April 2025 on there edge class ship Beyond to and thru the Panama Canal and again to the ABC Islands. The only complaint was the A-1 Aqua Class stateroom was outdated and the balcony had alot of rust but we knew that was possible because of her age. We were told Equinox is headed to drydock in November before repositioning to Europe. The rest of the ship was exceptionally maintained for the ships age from there first sailing in 2009 and her refurbishment in 2019. We are headed on Oceania and there newest ship Vista that came out in May of 2023 on December 30th another first time experience with only 1,200 passengers. We booked a PH1 suite and are looking forward to seeing and experiencing the differences between the two lines but Celebrity is definitely a line we will continue to use.
I am so glad that your first experience was an overly positive one! We were just on Equinox and saw a bit of wear on the balconies as well. Most of the buffet footage from this video was taken on Equinox. The line should have the opportunity to address small issues such as this in dry dock. Celebrity normally attends to everything when it goes through refurbishment. You will love the Beyond and if you have Celebrity Select dining, make sure you go into your cruise planner and select a different dining room each evening for dinner. You can make reservations for each evening. If you are in the Retreat with a suite, Luminae is going to be a special experience as will the retreat lounge and sundeck . Celebrity is in the premium market segment (maybe upper premium) and Oceania is in the luxury segment. You will see differences sailing Oceania with highly upgraded dining and food options as well as more personalized service. The smaller guest numbers and ship size will enhance this as well. Thank you so much for sharing and for watching!
@@seemoreseascruises3791 NP my wife and I enjoy watching and the information you provide. Sometimes we see people's negative comments on the cruise industry in general about all the changes especially since the pandemic but the industry seems to be doing well with Royal Caribbean Inc pulling in 1 billion in profits last qtr. Lol. Thank you for the tips when going on Celebrity Beyond in 2025 as we booked another A-1 premium Aqua Class cabin but we may look to move up to a Aqua Class sky suite? Do you think it's worth the additional cost? On the soltice class we didn't think so but on the edge class it seems you get alot more amenities.
@@bobcarr5497 I am glad that you enjoy the videos. I do not enjoy giving negative reviews on my cruises but some items do need to be highlighted but not always. It is a fine balance. I would agree with you that I do not feel the price difference for Aqua Class (or Concierge Class) is worth the additional price on Solstice ships since I don't really do the Persian Garden or spa. I love the gym but that is not an aqua perk. You do get access to Blu which normally is a slight upgrade from the MDR but not always. The smaller more intimate dining venue is a big plus though. Upgrading to an Aqua Sky Suite gives you much more on Edge Class. This will provide you access to The Retreat and all the perks associated. You will have the premium drink and wi-fi packages, access to the suites only dining room, Luminae and The Retreat lounge and two level sun deck. Because it is Aqua Class you will also have access to the Persian Garden and Blu and well. This is the best of all worlds. Celebrity has removed the butler service from Sky Suites but we have never used our butler when we stay in Sky Suites other than afternoon birthday cocktails with canapés when on Reflection. If the budget can absorb it, I would highly recommend the upgrade since it comes with several added perks as compared to standard aqua class on Solstice & Millennium class ships. You can still check out / experience any of the main dining room venues as desired having the concierge staff in the large Retreat Lounge make reservations for you.
@@bobcarr5497 In addition to my previous reply, I wanted to add one other item that you get with a Sky Suite on Edge Class. If you select an S1 the bed faces the balcony (real balcony and not an infinite veranda) so the bathroom also faces the balcony. It has a very cool mirror that slides open as desired allowing you to look out into the bedroom and towards the water. This is a safety glass window so the bathroom is completed closed off. The bathroom is also very large with a separate doored toilet area. We loved our S1 on the Edge due to this along with the technology built into the stateroom.
It all depends on what you are looking for and the itinerary. The Eclipse is going to be a much older ship but revitalized many times. The Apex is very new and is going to have a bit more entertainment onboard as well as technology. If you are thinking about a suite (The Retreat) then the Apex is going to have much more amenities and venues for The Retreat guests. This can also detract from non-suite guests but has minimal impact. I actually love the design of the Solstice Class and will be sailing Eclipse again in August. Thanks so much for watching. You might want to look at my review of the Equinox to get a full impression of the Eclipse.
I love Celebrity. I’ve been on 2 Celebrity cruises, on the Reflection and the Ascent, and both were fantastic experiences. Food was consistently excellent, entertainment was great, tons of spaces to relax or have fun on sea days and the crew is always amazing. We have another Celebrity cruises lined up already.
We have three Celebrity Cruises planned this year. Our next cruise is on Virgin but the rest of the year is Celebrity ending with a Christmas Cruise on the Beyond. We love the food options, entertainment and just overall vibe. Other premium choices are less expensive but we are going cruise only and never all included again. We will purchase Wi-fi after booking and just purchase a few drinks as we go. That is a much more price competitive option. Thanks so much for sharing and for watching!

@@seemoreseascruises3791 Interesting view on "All Inclusive" package as I assume this video was posted after the Oct '23 downgrades. We are doing a short Sept '24 Caribbean, and considering options. Sadly, the classic drinks (read: cheap/low grade liquors) on Celebrity, are as cafeteria basic as the food being served. We do enjoy the livelier vibe, but noise, and volume seldom equal quality.
You are correct with the changes that took place after this video. The correct marketing name for the program is "All Included" and never "All Inclusive" which is a pretty slipper slope from Celebrity. The gratuities are no longer included and the classic package now has fewer choices for wines and spirits. The internet is still pretty good for surf with the addition of Starlink. The food quality has been reported to also take a slight decline. I still think the buffet has a good quality and selection compared to other premium lines. Thanks for sharing and for watching!
We just booked a cruise for Sept 5 on the Equinox, this will be our first cruise on Celebrity. We don't plan on eating at the Specialty restaurants, since food at the main restaurants is usually very good, so why pay more. Thanks for your video.
I am sure that you have a great cruise and enjoy Celebrity. The MDR is normally very good and make sure you visit for breakfast too! Thanks for sharing and for watching! I have a full review on the Equinox on my channel that you might find helpful.
You pay more for definitely a step up in food and a step way up in service (more personalized) and ambiance (quieter and more intimate). I think it is worth doing once a cruise. The amount of choices in restaurants is huge on Celebrity now, but on some other lines as well. Overall, I agree with you that at least most meals are best in the MDR.
I love, love Celebrity, I do 4 cruises a year, have been sailing on Celebrity since 2000, I always sail on the Summit and I have included the Reflection and Apex, I love those ships. I'm getting ready to sail 2nd Dec on Apex. I have a Mediterranean cruise in May, also I have booked Oct and Dec 2024,.
Oh good for you! I have not sailed on Summit yet but love the upgrades they have done on her. Enjoy your cruise on the Apex! I really enjoy the new Edge Class ships too! Thanks for watching!
@@SportsBoss999 I'm retired twice (Marines and from the State), and I enjoy cruising and Celebrity is the cruise line I like, coming up in Sept, again Oct and Dec for this year. Life is too short not to enjoy life.
We are Zenith cruisers. Celebrity provides an upscale experience at reasonable cost. Tip-Stick with the e class ships for the best experience. The ships are beautiful, and the food is better than on the old tubs. Aqua class is our sweet spot, the food and service are superior to the main dining rooms. We love the new vessel, the Ascent, and are preparing for our third deployment on that ship.
Thank you so much for sharing! I do enjoy the Edge Class ships as well and look forward to being back on Beyond in December. I have Reflection in about 10 days and then Eclipse in Canada in August. I did not find Blu that appealing however so many guests do so I am so glad that you shared your dining experience with Aqua Class. Thank you so much for watching and look for my upcoming tour on the Reflection!
Love your videos, I'll be sailing with Celebrity Solstice next month. I have a few questions..... Not many videos mention about sauna, is that included for everyone? When going excursions, should we take our passport for returning to the cruise? Lastly, Is there a limit to the number of dishes order at the MDR?
Thank you for watching the videos! I am glad that you find them helpful. There is a sauna in the men's dressing room attached to the gym that is available to everyone for free. The Persian Garden is completely separate from that. It has a few different types of relaxation rooms including a sauna, cold room, crystal therapy and aromatic steam. This has unlimited access for Aqua Class guests only. Day passes are available however they can be a bit expensive and you normally book a 1 hour session - though they normally don't hold you to that time but can if it gets crowded. I personally do not think it is worth the money. When leaving the ship in any foriegn port, I always bring my passport with me though only a government issued ID is required. Most ports do not even check the ID but just make sure you have the correct ship key card to get back to the ship. I bring a passport because if anything should happen while in port not allowing me to return to the ship, I would want my passport in order to get back to the United States. As it relates to the MDR, you can order at least 3 appetizers (I normally get a soup and a salad, etc) and you can order at least 2 entrees and sometimes 3 if you are sharing. If it is a lobster night, there is a charge for the 2nd lobster. The same goes with desserts - you an order two or three. If you are in a specialty dining venue there is normally a charge for the 2nd entree. I normally get a great steak at Tuscan Grill and they will provide a half order of another dish such as carbonara or a pasta dish for no additional charge. Most times you can also get a few appetizers to share for the table. You won't be able to finish most of the meal in a specialty restaurant.
I have sailed NCL many times and they are normally a very good cruise line. The Breakaway Class of ships are big with several activities and a great outdoor promenade called the waterfront. Advice is to take advantage of the specialty dining package since there are several very good options. Cagney's Steakhouse is always a favorite. Little known is that Cagney's normally has a breakfast buffet that is much less crowded than the main buffet. Reservations for entertainment is a must so make sure that you always do that because it fills up quickly. You will do this onboard. They only thing about the Breakaway is the design of their main atrium as the casino is open to the multi deck area and the casino smoke can be strong throughout the open decks above and below the casino. We ended up having to walk on the Waterfront to go around that area. The main dining rooms are good but I wouldn't classify it as fine dining. Also watch the nickel and dime extra charges on NCL. That could get out of control quickly. I am sure that you will have a great cruise! Thanks for watching!
One thing ive learned from reading reviews from people about their vacations, whether on a cruise or at a resort. Those that complain and cry and badmouth about their experience must be some awfully unhappy people in life. Its never as bad as they like to portray. I think they must work for competition.
I do think that there are obviously many more complaints than there are positives posted on sites so everyone should understand that when reading them. It is very interesting how some guests on the same cruise have very different experiences. I know it does have to do with expectations going in as well as with comparisons. Sometimes it is actually a crappy experience as well. Thanks for sharing and for watching!
@@seemoreseascruises3791 I also believe many that complain are trying to get something for free it's not about the service or etc. I bet its those that live a very different lifestyle.
Totally agree, my first celebrity cruise was this past August to Alaska, and the experience was absolutely perfect, zero complaints, zero issues, flawless most relaxing, tranquil, peaceful vacation. There is just no words for how amazing it was. The only thing that is missing is Princess beds and Princess medallion experience! But Princess has a higher ratio of elderly, so you got to pick your preference there. I also had the pleasure of experience the worse cruise line in May, yes Costa! And yes, it is the worse cruise line. The opposite of celebrity in every way!
So glad that you have enjoyed your Celebrity Alaska cruise!! Did you do the Edge or the Solstice? There are also other ships in the region doing North South one way sailings. I enjoy the bedding on Celebrity, in fact I have just researched ordering their bedding for our home use. We did not like the new expensive sheets we bought for home...... Celebrity does and amazing job with most itineraries but they are not perfect. We sail on Beyond in Dec for a 10-Night Southern Caribbean. We are so looking forward to experiencing the Edge Class Retreat Suite Class for that entire cruise. Christmas is coming early for us this year! Costa is in a completely different category and should be at the opposite end of the experience. The counterpart in the US market is MSC (non Yacht Club bookings) and they too are night and day different from Celebrity. Let me know if I can help you plan your next Celebrity Cruise! Thanks so much for sharing and for watching!
My soon to be wife and I will taking a celebrity cruise to Bermuda on the Silhouette this coming June 8th - 15th. Will be my first cruise and my fiancées 2nd cruise. We are excited for the vibe as we just want to relax. I’m 31, she’s 30 lol we’ve got all our partying done a decade ago.
Silhouette is the Celebrity ship we have sailed the most. She was refurbished in 2020 with several upgrades. The vibe is very chill, restful and luxurious. If you are going for a drink package, I would recommend the premium package over the classic but either way, you only pay extra for a cocktail that exceeds the limit for each package ($10 and $17) Also if you a doing any sort of Celebration, the specialty restaurant, Murano, is a splurge and has incredible meals and over the top service. There are normally great steaks in Tuscan Grille and Lawn Club Grill. Have a wonderful cruise and thank you so much for sharing and for watching!
Thanks for the video. is there a nightclub for dancing at night? do any of the music artists play music that is for dancing or is everything just relaxing music?
Yes! There are plenty of places to dance onboard. The solstice class has Quasar which is a dance club open late. They also have dancing and live music in the atrium almost every night, a silent disco either in the atrium or the pool deck. Edge Class has a large dance floor with live bands in the Piazza near the Martini Bar as well as in The Club with live bands and all types of music played throughout the cruise! You will have lots of choices! Thanks so much for asking and for watching!
My 1st cruise was Celebrity Century in 2004 (in my mid 30's) and I fell in Love with Celebrity🥰😍🥰😍🥰. Also, Love their non-smoke casinos & you're absolutely right on other cruises with the smoke. You can include Emerald Princess on that list of smoker casinos with their door open right next to Costumer Service desk!!!🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮Mind you, I had a wonderful 10 days with Princess but they need to close those doors. I am going with Ascent in March & I can't wait!!!🥰🥰🥰
NCL Breakaway class also has the same problem with the open air casino which floods the entire multi deck atrium with smoke. You will love the Ascent - have a great cruise! We have the Beyond booked for later this year. Thanks for sharing and for watching!
I have a question that I've yet to see an answer for. The balcony staterooms (not the suites) seem to have only 1 bed. I am rooming with a buddy and another couple that have their own stateroom. Since the person I'm rooming with is obviously NOT my significant other, do I have to share this one bed with this person? Seems kind of an awkward situation. Am I missing something? How do 2 people, who are not "together" manage to share the same bed or are they separated somehow? I've seen a separate small couch in these rooms, but it doesn't really look big enough to sleep on. I'd appreciate if someone could explain this to me. Thank you!
Almost all balcony cabins on Celebrity Cruises can be separated into two twin beds. This is an option that you select upon booking or your travel advisor selects this for you. The stateroom attendant can also do this for you day 1. The two twins are pushed together and secured when you see it as a king. When selecting your stateroom, make sure you check the deck plan and if there is a dark square or other shape on the room number, it normally means that the sofa in the cabin can convert into either a single or double bed sleeper for the other person, or for an additional guest in that stateroom. You will have plenty of options. Thanks for asking and for watching! I hope that you enjoy your Celebrity cruise!
Celebrity Apex is the best. Its huge very spacious lots of greens.Their interiors are state of the art. Lots of food selections at the ocean view buffet. We like best our room more space.
Thanks for sharing! The Celebrity Edge Class ships are beautiful and full of technology. I love Eden as well with all of the live plants and views of the aft of the ship. Thanks for watching!
We decided to skip Alaska this year and do Canada / New England on Eclipse this fall and then Southern Caribbean on Beyond over the holidays. I'm also doing a solo on Reflection in May. Those are the only Celebrity sailings we have planned this year. I have a few clients doing Alaska on Edge in June. That should be an excellent ship for Alaska! Thanks so much for sharing and for watching! GO HOOSIERS!
We love Celebrity and have been cruising with them for ten years. Some things have changed but we still find the service fantastic and the food really good. We do travel in a suite and Luminae will do special meals on request. We weren’t happy about losing our Butler but the Head Butler took great care of us. We were on the Summit and in April we will be on Equinox and hope it is the same. We were going to go on Oceania but after they refused to refund people for Egypt/Isreal and turned it into a Med cruise I don’t think I want to cruise on them. I did cruise with them in 2017 since they were the only line doing more than just Havana. Good trip but not Celebrity.
We love Luminae as well, especially on Edge Class. We have done Sky Suites on 4 Solstice Class sailings and really only used our Butler a few times. It was very nice on the Reflection when he set up a birthday party on our balcony though. LOL. We are sailing Holland America Rotterdam in a few weeks and I am setting my expectations so I am not disappointed. We know it will be different from Celebrity but we hope that they continue to accommodate special requests. Our experience is that they also do a good job with food sensitivities. Thanks so much for sharing and for watching!
I have a lot to say and it's positive about the Solstice class but not at all positive about the Edge class. I mostly agree with your assessment of the things you covered. I notice you mostly show Solstice class footage as that class defines Celebrity much more than the Edge. The fellow passengers are variable between those seeking a Celebrity style ship and those just going on a ship and happen to choose Celebrity. The food, like any other major cruise line, can be excellent or just mediocre or any of their ships. The service should be consistent as the condition/maintenance of ships (usually both of a high order). I think one thing not mentioned was the art onboard Celebrity ships. They were one of the first lines to have electronic screen display art and just really tend to have much ore provocative art than most lines. You'll find that in pretty much all of their ships. I was introduced to Celebrity in the 1990s and I was a HAL type of cruiser. So, I was looking for a more traditional-ish type of cruise. I would describe Celebrity's style, and this is very important, as retro-modern with heavy art-deco influences. I hear people say "beautiful" ship but "beautiful" doesn't define character or style. What makes a HAL or Cunard or Princess ship is looking around and seeing signatures and styles and details that makes you know what line of ship you're on. For Celebrity, it was, at least up to the Edge class, certain decor elements that felt like a modern interpretation of chic lounges or restaurants or such from the 1920s-1960s, but modernized. That's what makes a Celebrity ship style a Celebrity ship style. For me, the Horizon class, Century class especially, Millennium class to a lesser extent and Solstice class especially, a Celebrity ship. You mentioned the Sky Lounge. Almost all ships have a version of it and yes, this is a popular way to just relax with plenty of comfortable seats and loungers, a dance floor area, a club area, a place to observe the sea or glaciers or whatever scenery is outside of the ship, and just a priceless area of the ship. Which leads me to the most glaring and wanting aspect of the Edge class of ships. Whose idea was it to delete the Sky Lounge and dedicate this whole area to just suite passengers? Yes, they have a lovely restaurant there but what about the rest of the passengers? Whose idea was it to get rid of the Ensemble lounge, Rendezvous lounge, or basically, lounges? Where is the Hideaway? Why is the Martini Bar that had smaller sections for groups of people to feel cozy in turned into a section of what more resembles a lobby than foyer? And the decor on the Edge class ships, in most areas, is not retro-modern evocative (save a few restaurants). It's more a very pretty and fairly upscale ship, modern for now, until you get to Eden (which seems more casual and resorty IMO). So I think Celebrity just departed from being Celebrity in too many ways with the Edge class and creeping classism aboard freezes out too many important spaces to most passengers. Those ships are incomplete as Celebrity ships. They have the foodie part down with what may even be an excessive amount of restaurants. The entertainment venue is vastly improved. But the social aspects of the ship and spaces dedicated to that as well as smaller, quieter more personal nooks, forget it. That's where it doesn't deliver. Of course the crew and people make a ship but you still need the spaces to facilitate and host activities. And dancing on a ship in a nice lounge is a ship activity. I think if you want a true Celebrity experience, the 5 Solstice ships are it. The Millennium ships deliver as well but I always felt these ships were compromised by being on a Brilliance of the Seas class hull design. Still, they have the essential signatures of Celebrity. If you want this Edge experience by Celebrity, something like an NCL Haven freestyle cruise, then you'd love the Edge. My opinion is a seasoned Celebrity fan and one who enjoys the signatures of the product. And I'm not at all against change. But I am against changing the essentials of your product and turning it into something else. And I'm against removing areas of the ship that for some passengers were essential to their cruise experience. I'll take any Sky Lounge and Ensembles lounge over Eden any day.
I have never been on a celebrity cruise looking into the options and appreciate your review, unable to do a solstice cruise right now. What would be your next suggestion?
I’ve cruised with other ships before and Celebrity is my 6th and favorite. We tipped extra on top of the prepaid gratuity because the staff were so awesome. One them told us Celebrity book their return flights home unlike other companies who leave their crew to fend for themselves to find the cheapest flights.
I always find the crew to be very helpful and cheerful. I really do think Celebrity takes care of their crew members. Thanks for sharing and for watching.
I have been sailing with Celebrity since 1991...I just got off the Reflection this past Sept... This was one of the worst cruises I ever took with Celebrity. Most of the Cuisine was of very low quality... I just was in Aqua Class Blu restaurant and I had to pick off the Main dining room 5 out of 9 nights because the Menu was slimmed down and offered a lot of chicken. The Crispy Crab Cake was a rubbery crust and all crab filler like the frozen crab cakes in the supermarket freezer. Filet Mignon is now not offered in the Main dining room along with Beef Wellington. I ordered one night Herb Crusted Lamb Chops and on the plate was 2 ba y Lamb chops 5 peas, one piece of Zucchini and a baby tomato. In the Ocean View Buffet, The Chocolate fountain is gone...No steam ship round...now it is Roast turkey and Ham...lots of pasta, rice and potatoes... Before you wave me off. I HAVE E-Mail correspondence with the President of Celebrity and also 2 phone calls... Items discussed: The downward spiral food. The elimination of Tip.in the all inclusive package which you now have to pay separately. The drink allowance is $10.per drink in the Classic package, meanwhile many drinks have gone from $9- $11 - $13 just in the Classic package..Which means after paying the Classic package you will be hit with another drink bill. I know you are a travel agency, but please I am an expert on everything Celebrity and they have spiraled downhill... Proof,.have your viewers go to Cruise Critic and see how people are now trashing this line for all the amenities that were eliminated and downgraded. They have raised what you pay for Gratuities 2 times in 9 months. Celebrity is not what it use to be, not even close. Lots of people.on thebcruise I was on stated too many thing have changed and many canceled future cruises on Celebrity.. I ALSO heard many are now going to Virgin Voyages...Trust me, Celebrity is nothing like what you are saying...maybe years ago, but not now.
I know you have been a Celebrity cruiser for years and this is really surprising to me! I am disappointed to hear that the Reflection was that bad. The footage I used was from our very recent Equinox sailing and it was one of the best Celebrity sailings we have done. The food, the buffet and all other clips were from that sailing. We sailed the Reflection last year and the staff was 100% and the food was extremely good. Again, so sorry for your experience. That just sucks. We are going on Virgin again in March and do feel that they are on par for food but there are still things on Virgin I do not like including the pool area, entertainment and so much wasted space on the upper decks. More to come on that in March. Thanks for sharing!!
Let me also mention...I received so much on my last cruise with them. After I shot off a very curt E-mail stating all the things that have been eliminated and down graded not just over the course of a decade, but within a year...Everything from removing Chocolate Chip cookies on the Equinox out of Cafe Bachio and then charging $2 per cookies at the Gelato station plus a 20% gratuity which she heard so much backlash that the cookies went back to Cafe Bachio and the removal of the $2 fee...they claim it was because they warmed them up and it was like mother use to make..That was the pathetic excuse for the charge that was short lived. The Menus have been slimmed down on all ships, Their excuse faster service, the real reason, bigger profits. Anyway I was on the phone with the Executive Officer Ayoro and the President Laura Hodges in a 3 way call. I was told That Canapes in Aqua Class were reinstated which was not true, The Steward in aqua Class said we do not do Canapes anymore. However I found out I was a VIP when I boarded, How? well when my wife and I settled in to the cabin, The Head of House keeping, The room service manager, Our Cabin Steward, the Food and Beverage manager all came to my cabin basically stating we are here to make your cruise a vacation of a life time...I stated all this is not necessary. I was given a full plate of Shrimp cocktails and a plate of Cheese and crackers alternating day to day (BTW, this was a Med cruise to Spain, france, Corsica, Monaco, Italy) No one else received anything in Aqua Class unless you were a vip...The Food and beverage Manager gave us 2 meals one in Murano and the other in Rooftop Grill. We also received a expensive bottle of Champaign and a huge bowl of fruit...The Matre D in Blu knew who we were the first night when we went showed our card to enter Blu, The Matre D came over and greeted us by name and gave us a prime window seat,...I all along kept saying this is not nescessary please...We also got reserved seats in the show room and many other things like a shopping spree of $500 in any shop on board.. I want to say I did appreciate everything they did BUT, It is and will never be the true experience of what everyone else got, But I saw throught it all. I can send a picture of the pathetic Lobster Murano I received, same lobster tail n the Main Dining room and Blu...a 4oz tail that was drenched in sauce...with a few string beans and a bit of pasta...I would have been extremely angry If I had to pay $65 plus for that..Don't get me wrong, the service in that restaurant and the atmosphere is a sheer delight, But the amount of cuisine was so small I left hungry. The special treatment I received was really nice, but I know that was not the normal...I actually called her office after the cruise (She told me to when I got back) I told her it was all well and good the VIP status I got but it doesn't take away from the fact that the food was no better then what you would get at a average restaurant...BTW, the Main dinning room you only are allowed 1 4 oz lobster tail on lobster night, if you want another 4 oz tail, it is $16.99 plus a 20% gratuity. Also On soltice class ships, starting at about 9:30 the DJ plays every night in the grand foyer BLASTING music where you cannot escape the music no matter where you go...Not even in the 12th floor in the Library, the music is blasting in the whole interior of the ship. Also, there are hardly any sets, most people standing around blocking the staircase and hanging over the banisters watchng..In Cafe Bacio, you can't hear yourself think it is so loud...I mentioned all this on that last phone call, Laura had no answer, I stated why can;t the DJ play in a lounge, why blast it through out the ship, this is not Royal Caribbean or Carnival...And I did mention " I know you came from Royla Caribbean Ms Hodges, But you are bringing Royal Caribbean ideas to Celebrity, and you are killing the brand...Again no answer..She had told me the call was being taped and at the end of the call, she stated we will look into all this...Anyway, let me know what you think, Seems a lot of people are complaining...
@@butalina good for you my friend! I have seen some of the exact items you are describing. I do see many of the profit hungry policies being brought over from Royal. The lobster in the main dining room $$ and I never liked the Murano lobster with the excessive mustard sauce. We had them remake it when we were there the very first time. All other Murano meals have been filet without the lobster or just plain without the mustard sauce. The cookie test I think was short lived and died an angry death due to you and others complaining so much. On our recent Equinox sailing, I had plenty of them. I am so glad that you let them have it and did not allow them to shove the company line down your throat. Our reflection sailing was only about 30% capacity so we had the entire ship to ourselves and everyone bent over backwards for us. The food was very good. As I stated earlier, the buffet on Equinox just recently had the chocolate fountain, the carpaccio, 5 kinds of hummus and the various pate and breads. We were blown away even being very familiar with the Oceanview Cafe and the offerings. I do agree with you that quality has gone down, the MDR is not what it used to be and they are trying to recover $$ lost in the pandemic at too fast a rate. I do think service is still pretty high though. We have been in Sky Suites (except this last Equinox sailing) so having most meals in Luminae may have shielded me from some of these culinary cutbacks. I actually hate those canapés every afternoon - we ask them to stop about half way through the cruises. The plates of shrimp were nice. Taking the butler away from Sky Suites is another subtle cut back, but I thought that was stupid and a waste for a Sky Suite anyway. The butler service is appropriate for the larger suites. Thanks for all of your comments and sharing the VIP experience, especially having access to the executive team. I'm glad you are in our corner!
@@seemoreseascruises3791 Thank you, I just wanted to relay to you that all is not peaches and cream on Celebrity. I will say though service from the crew was outstanding and I let her know that. But the Nickle and diming is getting old. One other thing: I did mention why would you eliminate the tips from the so called "All inclusive package? Her response was, we did that so people can acknowledge and tip above and beyond the normal gratuity. I told her that is an insult let me explain. I stated back when people use to tip on the last night with envelopes many never showed up to dinner on the last night just so they didn't have to tip the waiter and bus boy or they showed up and tipped well under the amount, I am sure the complaints from the crew to the ones in power reached a peak because they were all being under tipped or not tipped at all...That is the main reason why auto tips became a reality. These automatic gratuities assured people behind the scenes who were not on the front lines were tipped. Now you go ahead and remove tips from the all inclusive package, This now grants people to remover all auto tips added to their accounts and give at their own discretion which actually brings back the decades old problem of people not properly tipping, I stated No, this is your way of gouging people for more money because I assure you, celebrity is not reducing the cruise price at the same amount that tips are...The higher cruise fares support this.. She does twist words and lies, I call it as I see it...She is focusing on the Shareholders and the companies profits... BTW, Her title has changed from CEO of Celebrity to President of Celebrity...IMHO, she is not trustworthy, I caught her in too many lies....
All the cruise lines in some form do this. If you are that upset with the cruise industry go on land vacations or save your money and don't go at all. For everyone of you there are plenty of people going and having a great time on cruises. Royal Caribbean inc that owns Celebrity and others just had record profits last qtr 1 billion so the people you say are complaining are a small percentages and we went on our first Celebrity cruise on Equinox and it was very good in Aqua Class for a older ship. People that like to complain will complain no matter what as that's who they are. If your that upset you could quit cruising? You hold the purse strings.
Always bring extra money for surprises. Recently it was selling mediocre cookies for $2 plus gratuities. Stay out of the saunas. I have been surprised.
That is good advice on any cruise. There are always options for onboard purchases. Everyone needs to remember that those purchases are going on your onboard spending account! I think that charge food cookies at Cafe' al bacio died a quick death luckily. Thankfully, we did not experience the cookie fee on our recent Equinox sailing.
If the budget allows - go for it! We are in a Sky Suite in December for 10 days on the Beyond! Can't wait for 10 days in Luminae and The Retreat Lounge and Sundeck! Thanks for watching!
We recently returned from an Australian cruise on the solstice. It was outstanding. Some people complained that it was not as good as it used to be. This was aour first celebrity cruise so we thought is was far above ncl carnival and hal. The service was excellent and the music around the shipwas outstanding. Especially the suger bees.
@@colnagosuper Holland America is a great cruise line! I love a lot about their ships and sailings. I had a great experience on my last cruise on Rotterdam. I do think Celebrity has much better entertainment but there is something out there for every preference.
@@seemoreseascruises3791 HAL has some good points, for sure. But on a recent cruise on the Rotterdam, the entertainment was almost nonexistent. Hope that was an aberration.
10/10 for Celebrity. I recently travelled on Quantum of the Seas, oh my, there’s no comparison between these two companies and surprising enough they are owned by the same company. The difference is the history of Celebrity, formerly owned by Chandris Lines. The captain and Crew must always remain Greek and the X must always be their Logo, X being the Greek letter for C or Ch. I have been on Chandris ships way back in the 60s and 70s and couldn’t wait to get on board a Celebrity the moment they came to Australia. When it comes to comparing with RCC It’s all about class, soft decor, tasteful furnishings and wall art and of course the food, way above RCC. Celebrity do not focus on toys, games, slides, climbing walls and other adult play areas. Their outdoor seating is padded and a dream to sit on. The entertainment is amazing, no one man bands or poor musicians. Ok I’m obviously biased. Celebrity it is, from there oldest up to now 2024. ❤🇬🇷❤🇬🇷❤🇬🇷
It is amazing how different RCC is from Celebrity but that is by design. Royal has RCC as the mass market product and Celebrity as the Premium product. They source, plan and execute very differently. I really enjoy most everything from Celebrity with the exception of a few times their execution could have been better lately. We are on the Beyond at the end of this coming week for 10 days. We are really looking forward to it. Thanks so much for sharing and for watching!
Thanks for the info! We did our first Celebrity cruise on Reflection this summer. The ship was clean, quiet and tastefully appointed, albeit showing her age for an S-class ship. I have to say overall we were less than impressed with the food (MDR), lacklustre ambiance, amenities and entertainment. It was definitely NOT a premium experience. My impression is with all the cutbacks and lower quality stuff they’re overcharging for, what they now call “premium” is what a cruise experience used to be 10 years ago. I would like to try one of their newer Edge class ships, but unless there is a significant difference in quality, I’d rather spend my dollars elsewhere.
I have been hearing several reports from long time Celebrity cruisers who have also stated that the MDR quality has declined. I had a Sky Suite on our Reflection sailing last year so I did not experience the MDR but I did dine at Blu and I was not impressed. A recent report from Celebrity stated that the new President and the executive team just sailed 7 days on the Equinox to experience the changes the line made in the MDR and quickly reversed the decision to remove the classics on the daily menu. I hope that she and her team also experienced the reported quality decline so that it also can be corrected. For this premium price, we should demand better. Thanks for sharing and for watching!
Don’t worry, that is not true. I always order two starters like soup & salad or a shrimp cocktail. You can order two entrees as well. it’s the third entree for the individual that gets charged. We sometimes order an extra entree for the table if we can’t decide. The exception on both Royal and Celebrity is that they do charge for a 2nd lobster is you have a lobster. night. You can also order more than one dessert. Enjoy!
I have always loved Celebrity but their food quality and choices have gone way down recently. I'm still pretty happy with the buffet but the main dining room has become just another main stream dining experience when it used to be something special. It's just sad that they have declined all the while doubling their prices.
There are similar comments pointing to the decline in the MDR. With the recent change in leadership, the cost cutting on Royal Caribbean looks very likely to be spilling over to Celebrity. That will have a huge impact on repeat bookings.
Agree. We've done Celebrity and MSC this year, and despite all the negative reviews, we found MSC main restaurant's food better than Silhouette's. Celebrity buffet still wins combined with their excellent kids club, but considering their prices they should step up.
Getting to rival CARNIVAL with an luxurious 5.5 star. If you like food a little on the SALTY side If you like HS type shows displaying who can carry notes the Logest and the Loudest If you like child type individual performers If you like Events removed at last minute replaced by learning the cha-cha, Merengue or other Spanish dances Including partying while listening to mostly Hispanic music with 20-30 of ship passengers If you like to get comments directed at you for being an American This Cruise is FOR YOU!
If you did one of the recent short cruises out of Port Everglades on the Reflection, this is a vastly different demographic than a 7 Night or longer on Celebrity. I just got off of the Reflection yesterday for the 3 Night weekend getaway and didn't even recognize the sailing. It was a booze party cruise with most first time cruises and first time Celebrity. It reminded me a bit of Carnival and Royal Caribbean. I'll be doing my review of the 4 night and 3 night Reflection sailings ASAP.
We did a 5 day cruise from Ft. Lauderdale to Key West and Key West was Great. We also stopped at BIMINI.....most wasted two hours ever spent on an islsnd
Recently booked a cruise with Celebrity Solstice and noticed some onboard credits in my account. After a few weeks, the amount of credit increased by dollar, not sure what that is about? I also noticed 1 captain points earned but I didn’t purchase or do anything with my account. Just wondering if I can use my onboard credit to pay for gratuity or play at the casino?
Most often you are able to use your promotional onboard credit to settle your onboard spending account at the end of the cruise. This is only possible if you do not prepay the gratuities or use all of the OBC during your cruise for other purchases such as drinks or excursions. If you did not prepay gratuities, they will be applied daily to your onboard account. Your promotional OBC most often can also be used pre-cruise to purchase add ons such as excursions and specialty dining but not gratuities. Upon boarding the ship, if there is onboard credit left from pre-cruise purchases (you must select the option during cruise planner purchases to have OBC applied to these purchases) that remaining OBC will be applied to your account at the end of the cruise. Promotional OBC is a use it or loose it balance and if there is a balance at the end of the cruise, you do not get that money. There are types of OBC that is not promotional and well be credited to your credit card that is used to set up your onboard spending account. It is actually pretty simple - either use the OBC to pay for pre-cruise items on cruise planner or have it applied to your onboard spending account at the end of the cruise. To use the slots in the casino, you enter your SeaPass card into the machine and select the "use onboard credit" as your preferred credit.
You are very knowledgeable. I’m also gay and looking between virgin and Celebrity. Gonna go on the BEYOND first next April. I’m so excited. Hopefully will not be the only LGBT person. I love love cruising!!! Thank you for making videos
Thank you so much! I am so happy that you enjoy the videos. You will love the Beyond! We are sailing her in December for 10 days. You will not be the only LGBT onboard. There is normally a LGBT meet up every evening onboard so look at the daily planner and it will be listed. We have met so many great singles and couples on Celebrity. I am sure you will too! Have a great cruise! I'd love to hear how it goes. Virgin is also a great choice for a young gay solo or couple. Thanks for sharing and for watching!
Thanks, I am glad that it was helpful. I recommend you try one of the specialty restaurants like Tuscan or Le Petit Chef. Also if you have Celebrity Select dining, go on the cruise planner and make your daily reservations (free) for the main dining room. It saves a bit of time in waiting in line for your table. Enjoy your cruise and thanks for watching!
Sounds nice. I go on my 1st cruise in November, and it's on Celebrity. I like a nice relaxing time, and I love they don't have those stupid rock-climbing crap on them.
Most do not quote prices due to they vary based upon the sailing, region, Captain's Club status, current pre-cruise promotions and class of ship. Since I think you asked, I have two sailings coming up with list prices as follows: Solstice Class Ships Le Petit Chef = $60 pp Murano $60 pp Tuscan Grille = $55 pp Lawn Club Grill (Reflection and Silhouette) = $50 Sushi on 5 = A la carte Edge Class Le Voyage = $125 pp Eden = $85 pp Fine Cut Steakhouse = $65 pp Le Petit Chef = $60 pp Rooftop Garden Grill = $45 pp Raw on 5 / Le Grand Bistro = A la carte It is always best to book pre-cruise for promotional savings and for availability for your desired day and time. Everything is list price on the ship. I hope that helps
With my email being "bombarded" with cruise ads, etc.; you have really helped me to make an informed decision. I want my cruise experience to be everything you described in your video. I don't smoke, drink, gamble; and like a nice "quiet" voyage. I love the options and amenities on this ship. Thanks for sharing. I've subscribed.
I am very glad that you found the video helpful! It sounds like you will enjoy the premium cruise segment where Celebrity is a leader. I hope you have a wonderful cruise. If I can be of any additional assistance, please let me know. Thanks for watching!
The walls are somewhat thin but not that bad. If there is an argument beside you then you will hear it. If there is a baby next door, you will hear it. It is no difference than a hotel room. What I do to mitigate this is to make sure that I look at the deck plan and make sure that I am not picking my stateroom beside a cabin with sleeper sofas or pullman beds sleeping 3 to 4 total in the cabin next door. This way it minimizes the chances of cross over noise. You also do not want to choose a stateroom with a connecting door since this can increase the noise. I have been on almost 40 cruises and only once or twice have I actually had an issue with neighbors. Many of the mega ships will have tons of restaurants, shops and bars on their main promenade internal to the ship but these are often times very well designed and also provide many quiet personal spaces to view the passing ocean where you do not feel crowded or confined. At 53, with your concerns, I would look to Celebrity, Holland America and Princess for possibilities. Virgin Voyages might also be a good option for you too! Thanks for sharing and for watching!
Great video 📹 👍 awesome to listen to 🎉. Me and my wife is looking at first cruise 🛳 here for 2025-2026. Be 10th year married ✨️ and 16yrs total. We only few other road trips. Must family cruise with different brands. My mom and dad swear by carnival. But herd lot of bad over the years? Me wife not party crowd we late to early 30s in enjoy finner things and time away from screaming kids we dont kids own yet but we watch others. My wife brought celebrity to me few time look into bc followes few of captions and spouse on social media.
Thanks for watching and listening! It sounds like Celebrity would be a good fit for you and your wife due to not being a big party crowd people and enjoy some of the finer things. Celebrity does that very well without being pretentious or stuffy. I like the vibe onboard. You also might enjoy Virgin Voyages if you want the adults only experience and embrace the "come as your true self" attitude want a very casual but upgraded cruise. I hope you experience either - let me know if I can assist further.
I absolutely love Eden however, we skipped having dinner there since we didn't care for the menu and we cruised when the performers were all over the place. The Eden Cafe is a hidden gem on Edge Class. I would very much like to try dining there when we cruise Edge Class again. Thanks for sharing your experience to the group!
We have been on 25+ Celebrity cruises. The ships are beautiful- especially the Edge class - but the food in the MDR has gone downhill. Hope Celebrity management follows internet comments and addresses the MDR food issues. We will sail on the Beyond in January, but will try Viking Ocean in December.
The MDR comments are building and that is very concerning. I have noticed that other cruise lines also are experiencing guest complaints with main dining. The premium segment should NOT be having this problem. We are on HAL Rotterdam in a few weeks and I'm anxious to compare. Thanks for sharing and for watching!
Celebrity has been increasing their fares over the last few years but if you go with the cruise only fare, you only have to add the gratuities and pay for drinks as you go. Take a break from Wi-fi and don't purchase it. I have seen several Celebrity sailings beat Princess, HAL and Virgin in the premium segment on price for similar offerings.
Thank you for sharing! NCL has some great ships but they just don't meet Celebrity it terms of service and food. They do have some great specialty dining but the buffet and MDR are not as good. Carnival is upping their game with food but they still are the family cruise line which is not in our hemisphere anymore. Thanks so much for watching!
Totally disagree with your evaluation of Celebrity. I just returned from a Mexican Riviera cruise on Celebrity Eclipse, my first Celebrity cruise after having cruised extensively on Holland America. I found the food to be average at best, especially at the carving stations in the buffet. The buffet appeared at first to have an extensive variety of foods available, but the menu never changed and was the same every day, and was of average quality at best. The main dining room also served average quality meals, but the wait staff and sommolier were great. I had always thought that the Greeks were experts at maritime exploits, but our captain was a real dud, and I now beleive wholeheartedly that the Dutch are superior in this regard. THE CREWS ARE THE BEST!. My sincere compliments to them. They are the only redeeming factor for a cruise line that has provided me with an "OK" experience at a more premium price than I am used to paying (especially for the drink package). I'll stick with Holland America and will not be cruising with Celebritry any time soon.
It is so very interesting to me that guests can have very different experiences on cruise lines. We have felt the buffet on Celebrity changed daily on Equinox and the carvery was our favorite. It does not seem logical but I think the ship does matter. Being the same company, the experiences should be similar. I do fully acknowledge that the Celebrity dining seems to be declining for those who are very familiar with the line. I read a recent article where the executive staff sailed on Equinox and agreed that improvements were needed. Hopefully change is coming. We had a disappointing dining on Eurodam last year and sail on Rotterdam next month. We hope to enjoy the MDR and have 3 specialty dining booked. You are very very correct that Celebrity specialty dining is way too expensive. The cost on HAL is much more reasonable with very similar quality. Thanks so much for sharing your experience and for watching!
Celebrity can and does better. You just had a bad cruise. I've had good and bad cruises with HAL and Celebrity. They're pretty much of the same quality IMO.
We just completed 10 days cruise from Aruba with Celebrity Summit. The Main dining room is total disappointment, and they use low quality ingredients and cheap quality foods for their customers. It is just a Fancy restaurant with Cafeteria style dishes. It is a medium/small size cruise ship with great service and with mature well manner passengers. Oceanview Cafe are great, it has lot of great selections, fruit selections, Indian dishes and the Bakery, all are excellent. The Indian dishes actually are much better than American Dishes. Most of the American dishes are subpar. They look dark and taste very salty, As a minimum, MDR should use fresh ingredients for their soup base, not just Powder for the soup base for their connivence, in It is quite easy using real bean, green pea and diced potato for their soup base, they use grain powder for their watery soup base, such as for clam chowder, green pea and pasta fagioli, they are unacceptable. they may need to hire a new Chef. Main dining room is total disappointment, They also use baby meatless mussels, baby shrimps and baby scallops for Shrimp scampi, they try save money using low budget ingredients, they turn the Main Dining Room into a fancy cafeteria with great service, It is quite easy using real bean, green pea and potato for their soup base, they are not saving money at all. Coffee (flat taste) and the powder watery coffee Creamer, * one star, just lack of taste and lack of aroma, they taste so bad, need to be upgraded, Spa Cafe has much better cafe than the Oceanview Cafe, get your coffee at Spa Cafe. Shrimp scampi dish is a joke, 1 star * they put four baby shrimps on top of the yellow sauce, they call them shrimp scampi, need to learn the real scampi receipt, Prime rib (thin cut) and sirloin steak (thin cut) *** three stars, they just served them as cafeteria style. They are disappointment. Watery Pasta fagioli soup * one star, it tasted is so bad, they should use fresh diced potatoes, fresh pasta, not potato starch for their soup base, need to get to use real diced fresh potato, need new receipt. Watery green pea soup, taste so bad, they use green pea powder for soup base, need to use real green peas for soup base. Need new receipt. Shrimp cocktail ** two stars, they use Baby shrimps as shrimp cocktail Chicken breast * one star they overcooked chicken Lemon pepper chicken * one star dry and overcooked Seafood orzo * one star, they cook with baby meatless mussels, baby shrimps and baby scallops as ingredients, it may be good enough for a cafeteria, but not enough for a premium grade cruise ship. need to be improved and upgrade the ingredients. Sautéed salmon grill salmon * one start on top of pasta, * one star, need to learn the sautéed receipt, not just grill the salmon and put it on top of pasta, need to learn and understand Sauteed the Salmon, need to be improved. Mushroom tempura, they breaded the mushrooms with sauce. it is not crispy tempura style fry mushrooms. need new tempura receipt. Grill sirloin steak (less than 1/2" thick with gravy, are you kidding, they put gravy over a grilled sirloin steak, need to be improved.
Very concerning regarding some of the items that you detailed from the main dining room. I remember getting a wild mushroom soup a few times on Celebrity and it was pretty good. I do not remember other soups but I can see that using the cheaper bases could be used to save $$. I don't usually get mussels or shrimp cocktails on cruises except when in a specialty restaurant. I, too, have not had luck in any main dining room with seafood. Very surprisingly on a recent MSC cruise, I had very good mussels but the rest of the food was subpar. We also have seen that main dining room steaks are thin and many times come with some sort of glaze or sauce. We always check the menu for the next evening and request the chef not use any sauce, gravy or processed seed oils in it's preparation. You should not have to do that but it is a trick we have learned to get a more natural, clean product. So unfortunate that you experienced so many MDR disappointments on your sailing. Being on a Millennium Class ship should have no impact on quality. Thanks so much for sharing and for watching.
@@seemoreseascruises3791 I tried the mushroom soup too, it just ok, but not great, Did you try the clam chowder or Green Pea soup. They did not use fresh ingredients for the soup base, they just use the powder for soup base. How the coffee? you should get the coffee from Spa Cafe, it has more aroma.
My daughter and her husband went on a Celebrity cruise last year. She had problems getting the bartenders to wait on her. She was ignored when she was at the bar. They never saw or met their room steward. It was their first Celebrity cruise. They normally go on Royal and have always been happy with them. I am going on Celebrity Reflection for the first time in June 2024. I hope I have a good experience.
I am surprised that happened to your daughter. I'll never discount an experience from another cruiser and that might have been an understaffed bar or just a very full ship. Either way, I will be on the Reflection in a couple of weeks so I will post my review and experiences for the bar service. I have the drink package and will make sure to check that and mention. I always comment on the stateroom service so you will see that for sure. Thanks so much for watching and for sharing!
@@seemoreseascruises3791 Thanks. I was very surprised at her experience also. It was the New Year's cruise and maybe they were understaffed. I can't wait to go on Reflection in June and experience it for myself. I have always cruised Royal. I also have the Reflection booked for April 2025.
Yes they are. On most sailings it is more for a solo passenger than it would be for double occupancy. There are however some single supplement waiver sailings available. I booked a solo inside cabin for a May sailing on the Reflection which is a 4 Night Bahamas cruise for only $560. This included a single supplement waiver special. I don't think this makes up for the standard policy for overcharging for a solo passenger. I know Celebrity sales teams are very upset with the new policy and they are pushing hard internally to get this reversed. Time will tell. Thanks for sharing and for watching
Celebrity has turned into a joke. Zero quality. No where close to the great product they used to have. They have cut and cut the quality and now charge extra at every corner. Dining used to be spectacular now it’s terrible.
Brutal comment. The MDR decline is a common thread here. We can only hope that Celebrity is monitoring the reviews. From a travel advisor perspective, they are not addressing it in any way with travel partners.
Unless something has drastically changed, Celebrity is responsive if you’re booking a cruise. If already booked, not so much. I actually stayed on hold for 4 hours, and several times more than two hours. I’ve solved the problem by cruising Holland America instead. Never Again so Ill never know if they improve.
@Andy-hg8dv Good call! I'm on the Celebrity Equinox as and the experience has been gallingly bad. The food is barely edible both in the MDR and in the Oceanview Cafe. I raved about Celebrity to my brother who's also on this cruise with me. Yesterday morning he stepped into the bathroom in his verandah stateroom only to be greeted by a roach. I can't wait to get off this ship. This is my third and last cruise with Celebrity. 🤢
Our first Celebrity cruise was on the Equinox, and we were hooked. We've since cruised on the beyond, and have an Ascent cruise booked.
First ever cruise coming up December 24 on the Ascent. Thank you for this information
Going Nov 24
Another great informative video looking forward to our cruise next year on the beyond and retreat sky suite
Thank you so much! Thanks for sharing and for watching!
My wife and I are mid 30s, but seriously considering checking out celebrity. We are so tired of the crowded carnival ships we have been on recently.
1. They have plenty of activities if you want to do stuff
2. Lots of areas to chill and relax if you don't
3. The food is amazing
4. The crew are wonderful
5. Love all the art on the ships
6. Not snooty, but not a party ship either - nice balance
I had an excellent experience sailing Celebrity Silouette!
Thanks for sharing the price reduction!
When in May are you on the Edge? We are booked on the Edge for Alaska May 24th.
@@ShelleyFick May 17-24. Missed it by _that_ much!
I hope you enjoy the Edge. We are booked for NZ in November 2024.
@@kyls73I was on the Edge last year from Rome to Ft. Lauderdale. I love the Edge. Especially the four main dining rooms.
Very excited to sail 🚢 onboard Celebrity for the first time this summer and I know my teen will still enjoy since one port of call is Coco Cay
Great video ❤
We were on the solstice and maitre 'd and the wait staff were beyond excellent. Almost like family.
"older."
But I do think the days of dining with the same wait staff and tablemates are pretty much over on most lines.
Nice video! I like Celebrity. Been awhile. Need to get back on board!
Thank you Kim!
Buenos días desde Barcelona, España. Muchas gracias por sus consejos, seguro que serán muy útiles !!😊😊
¡Me alegro de que te haya gustado el vídeo! ¡Gracias por verlo!
Thanks for sharing! I’m on HAL next month so I’m going to give that a try! Thanks so much for watching!
I do hope You have a wonderful trip! @@seemoreseascruises3791
I find the service on both comparable and the overall quality comparable. It really depends on when you experience the ship and the captains and crew with either line. Celebrity and HAL are different styles but the level of quality is similar IMO.
I experienced this too on Silhouette this week.
Yet another excellent video. Thank you, Doug! Faye and I are super excited for our 2 Celebrity cruises this year and thanks for always knowing the REAL hidden secrets about the cruises and the ships! 🙂
Thanks Michael and Faye! Hope all is well and thanks as always for your support and for watching!
I just booked Celebrity Solstice August 2025 to Alaska since I saw your video. Hope everything still as good as you mentioned.
I'm looking at a couple of cruises on Celebrity (first time on this line). Does anyone have a preference between the Eclipse and Apex?
@@seemoreseascruises3791 Thank you. I subscribed and I will watch your review on the Equinox.
You must have money to afford 4 cruises a year. I'm lucky I can do one.
What are your thought on Norwegian? I'm suppose to go on the Breakaway next year.
@@seemoreseascruises3791 thanks for that. Does the millennium class also offer dancing?
@@seemoreseascruises3791 Thank you!!!
@seemoreseascruises3791 thank you so much for the detailed response! That clears it up for me. Appreciate it.
Love Celebrity! IU grad here ❤️! Do you happen to be on July 19 Alaska on Edge? 🤞🏻Love to “buy “ you a beverage! 😉
I'm on that cruise can't wait I have the drink package lol
Enjoyed your channel and I’m going on celebrity on the 6th
I am so glad that you have enjoyed the channel and the videos. I hope you have an awesome cruise! Thanks so much for sharing and for watching!
Great detail and information! Thanks so much for sharing and for watching!
Items discussed:
The downward spiral food.
One other thing:
I did mention why would you eliminate the tips from the so called "All inclusive package?
And The Retreat is well worth the upcharge.
So happy to hear that you had an outstanding experience! Thanks for sharing and for watching!
Holland America is better.
Can anyone tell me, if its true that you can only select ONE starter and ONE "entree"? Im afraid to exit the Main-Dining Rooms hungrily ?! 😱
Hang in there. Celebrity has periods where the food goes down. It'll go back up. It happened back in the early 2000s as well. It's not just recently.
We are boarding the Celebrity Reflection in two weeks. Brew. I like your wall. GO INDIANA!
Thanks Bill! Hope you have a great cruise and Go Hoosiers!

Celebrity Reflection was the Ship

Great summary! We are booked on our first Celebrity cruise on the Equinox in early 2024…can’t wait!
Our first two cruises were on Equinox and we are hooked. We will be on the Reflection at the end of March.
Yep Celebrity is certainly special
Thanks for watching Kathleen!
Sounds nice. I go on my 1st cruise in November, and it's on Celebrity. I like a nice relaxing time, and I love they don't have those stupid rock-climbing crap on them.
That is a great first choice. If you are not looking for rock-climbing and more of a relaxing time, you'll love it! Thanks for watching!
No riff raff on board
Yep! That is a good way to say it. Thanks for watching!
So no bs that be going on carnival ?
why do most of these reviews not state an average price for specialty food options? we are contemplating booking feb-mar 2025
Most do not quote prices due to they vary based upon the sailing, region, Captain's Club status, current pre-cruise promotions and class of ship. Since I think you asked, I have two sailings coming up with list prices as follows:
Solstice Class Ships
Le Petit Chef = $60 pp
Murano $60 pp
Tuscan Grille = $55 pp
Lawn Club Grill (Reflection and Silhouette) = $50
Sushi on 5 = A la carte
Edge Class
Le Voyage = $125 pp
Eden = $85 pp
Fine Cut Steakhouse = $65 pp
Le Petit Chef = $60 pp
Rooftop Garden Grill = $45 pp
Raw on 5 / Le Grand Bistro = A la carte
It is always best to book pre-cruise for promotional savings and for availability for your desired day and time. Everything is list price on the ship. I hope that helps
Love Celebrity
It is currently our go to cruise line! Thanks for watching!
My favorite cruise line has disappeared. Not recommended anymore. Just returned poor food overwhelmed staff.
I am so sorry to hear about this! On which ship were you sailing?
With my email being "bombarded" with cruise ads, etc.; you have really helped me to make an informed decision. I want my cruise experience to be everything you described in your video. I don't smoke, drink, gamble; and like a nice "quiet" voyage. I love the options and amenities on this ship. Thanks for sharing. I've subscribed.
I am very glad that you found the video helpful! It sounds like you will enjoy the premium cruise segment where Celebrity is a leader. I hope you have a wonderful cruise. If I can be of any additional assistance, please let me know. Thanks for watching!
I've never been on a cruise and I'm 53. My fear is thin walls and it feeling like a floating shopping mall. Am I wrong?
How could you have missed the Eden restaurant on Edge class? Far better, IMHO, than any other specialty dining
I’m guessing they are expensive cruises ???
Celebrity has been increasing their fares over the last few years but if you go with the cruise only fare, you only have to add the gratuities and pay for drinks as you go. Take a break from Wi-fi and don't purchase it. I have seen several Celebrity sailings beat Princess, HAL and Virgin in the premium segment on price for similar offerings.
My favorite cruise line, next is NCL. Celebrity has higher quality food. And this is high on my list. Carnival has the lowest quality food.
They look dark and taste very salty,
As a minimum, MDR should use fresh ingredients for their soup base, not just Powder for the soup base for their connivence, in It is quite easy using real bean, green pea and diced potato for their soup base, they use grain powder for their watery soup base, such as for clam chowder, green pea and pasta fagioli, they are unacceptable. they may need to hire a new Chef.
Shrimp scampi dish is a joke, 1 star * they put four baby shrimps on top of the yellow sauce, they call them shrimp scampi, need to learn the real scampi receipt,
Prime rib (thin cut) and sirloin steak (thin cut) *** three stars, they just served them as cafeteria style.
Shrimp cocktail ** two stars, they use Baby shrimps as shrimp cocktail
Chicken breast * one star they overcooked
chicken Lemon pepper chicken * one star dry and overcooked
Seafood orzo * one star, they cook with baby meatless mussels, baby shrimps and baby scallops as ingredients, it may be good enough for a cafeteria, but not enough for a premium grade cruise ship. need to be improved and upgrade the ingredients.
They did not use fresh ingredients
for the soup base, they just use the powder for soup base.
How the coffee? you should get the coffee from Spa Cafe, it has more aroma.
@@terminator7832 I agree! always get my Moring coffee from the Spa Cafe!
Celebrity now charges solo cruisers an EXTRA FEE on top of double occupancy.... They have lost my business;!!!
I found many bad reviews about Celebrity, sadly after I already book for the Asia cruise in next Jan 2024.
I will see how it goes.
Buy a yacht 😂
@Andy-hg8dv Good call! I'm on the Celebrity Equinox as and the experience has been gallingly bad. The food is barely edible both in the MDR and in the Oceanview Cafe. I raved about Celebrity to my brother who's also on this cruise with me. Yesterday morning he stepped into the bathroom in his verandah stateroom only to be greeted by a roach. I can't wait to get off this ship. This is my third and last cruise with Celebrity. 🤢
