Good informative video, thanks. Another thing to point out though is that if you have the classic package and order a drink on the premium package, you pay the difference and you also pay the 18% gratuity not just on the $2 or $3 but on the full premium price of the drink I believe.👍
We always upgrade to the premium package, not necessarily because we are big drinkers but we don’t want the hassle or embarrassment of not being able to have what we want. Also my mother and I like to try different cocktails and the premium gives us the opportunity to do that. Add in that we probably have a couple of coffees a day and the water as well as a glass of wine with dinner the premium package is better value.
Appreciate this video as we were contemplating which package to take on our first (on Celebrity) upcoming cruise on Beyond. I'm a regular beer and rum guy; my wife likes tropical and other mixed (C&C; G&T) drinks. The premium spirits, specialty coffees and juices aren't enough to sway us to Premium. Worst case, we'll pay the difference.
I just booked at 12 night cruise around Thailand and Vietnam, starting Singapore to HK in November 2025. I got a Concierge room, classic drinks package, basic WiFi, $150 credit for £1600 per person (2 people). Seems a bit of a bargain this was through my agent who gets me fantastic deals. So I was wondering what this classic package gave me, it looks better than expected to be honest, beers, Monkey Shoulder and Kraken are all great. Thanks for the info. How do you upgrade online before you go if I wanted to do that? No option offered just full price drink packages?
@@wakeywarrior We did the video over a year ago so it may have changed but they will definitely approach you once onboard to upgrade! Have a great cruise! 🚢🤚🍾🎉
Just pay for drinks as you drink them. Then compare what you saved at the end of the cruise. You will be amazed! Packages are are just pulling money out of your pockets
Totally agree! Unless you want to be drunk everyday on the ship, there is no need to buy a drink package! I buy 1-2 premium cocktails a day when on vacation and my bill is only about $130.00....depending.
We purchased drink packages on our Alaskan cruise and when we do Hawaii, we are not purchasing them. My husband drinks alcohol but I don't so it was a total waste of 1000.00 for me to have to purchase it. Then won't let only one person have the package so if there are two of you and one doesn't drink alcohol. purchase your drinks individually. No way my husband is going to drink 2G's worth of booze on the boat.
Thanks for sharing, great comparison review! I am wondering for people don't like beverages at all (no alcohol, no soda), how can they get the drink like water, sparkling water, maybe juice? Like just purchasing bottled water, getting a box water to ship, or is there anything like water package...
We are cruising to Alaska with Celebrity from Vancouver in Sept. for a week. We have the classic drink package, basic wifi, and crew gratuities included...as well as $250 usd onboard credit. $1380 Canadian approx. for an inside cabin pp. I think it is a good deal all things considered. Looking forward to making use of the drinks package and letting our hair down. 😁👍
Thank you for this detailed report on the drink packages,. My next 11-day cruise in the Caribbean with my wife is scheduled for early December aboard the Beyond. This will be my second time on X. This time, I opted for the premium drink package, and I was wondering if wine by the glass are served in the dining areas?
We did the same thing. Thought about upgrading but realized I wasn’t drinking enough each day to warrant the difference in price. Often premium drinks were $1-$2 more and with OBC we only owed $4 at the end of the week
Thank you for the useful information. We are going on our first Cruise next year and have booked the Inclusive (Classic drink) package. I do like my Disarrano which I see isnt included. I will probably drink 5/6 of these a night and looking at the other extras Im now wondering whether to uograde to the premium package. I was wondering if you had any ideas how much a single Disarrano would be? Thank you
Hi thanks for the comments. We just threw away the menus a couple of days ago!🙈 We will learn not to do that in future 😂 You get up to $10 per drink so we are sure it will only be a small supplement but if you’re drinking maybe 6 then it probably is best to take the premium and then you get the glass bottles water too and smoothies etc plus speciality coffees as well. Have a great cruise! 🚢🥂
Thank you for the reply@@theposhtravelblog . I have been leaning towards the upgrade as it gives me peace of mind incase we have a couple of latenights/early mornings 😄
Thank you for such an informative run down of the drinks. We are due to sail on Reflection on 8th July, its our first ever cruise so I'm loving your recent videos! I wonder if you know what tonic waters are available on the classic vs premium package? I'm a gin girl and can't seem to find a list of tonic waters anywhere.
Hi Jo, you will love it, we did! We are off on an NCL cruise shortly and not sure if we are going to enjoy it as much! We will see.. video to follow. Not sure on the tonic waters, we do drink g&t’s but stuck to the whiskey this time. We know a waiter onboard Joven and have his Facebook link so will ask him and get back to you. Thanks for the great comments ❤️
Very informative. We are sailing with Celebrity next year and currently looking at drink package options. Are hiballs included in the classic package? I notice that soda is not included in the classic, so is a rum and coke or gin and tonic an upcharge?
Big fan of the drinks package. I did Edge solo Rome to Ft. Lauderdale back in 2022. Taking my wife to Alaska on Edge in two weeks. I waited and watched and grabbed the upgrade for about CAD$7/day +18% per person. Big whisky fan. Thanks for the vid. (You have to try a shot of the Ghost Tequila. That's living!) I invented a drink by swapping out the rum in a Dark & Stormy with rye or Canadian whisky. It's called a kick in the head.
Very useful, thanks. We've booked with the 'all included' so we'll get the classic package but not sure whether to keep it or have it removed, as I only drink non-alcoholic and my husband drinks around half a bottle of wine a night plus the odd beer or whisky. I've read that you need to drink 6 alcoholic drinks a day to make it pay but Celebrity won't tell us the cost of the extras in the all included. There doesn't seem to be many real ales (we're from the UK too)
Thanks for the feedback ❤️ It’s nice to have the package so you can relax and order as you wish, maybe your husband may have a couple more drinks than usual (being on holiday 😂)and of course all soft drinks are included plus some coffees etc. Plus bottled water included to take back to your cabin. You also have the benefit of the gratuities being included too. We’d stick with the package but your choice ultimately. Have a great cruise! 🚢🎉🥂
Thank you for all the information you both included. I am curious how to get a case of bottled water in our cabin. How would we go about doing that? Is that included with either package?
Hi Nikki, on the classic package you can get water at the bar (tins of filtered water) and take it back to the cabin. On the premium you can get large bottles of glass bottles of aqua panna and take them back to your cabin. I’m not sure on bringing big packs on, as we had it included, but remember seeing a gentleman carrying a 6 pack of lattes waters onboard at one of the ports so I don’t think you’d have a problem doing that.
Thanks for this video, its really helpful. Sailing with my wife for our first time on Constellation later this month. Just a question on the spirits for the classic drinks package. if I want a gin and tonic, or a rum and coke, is it included with the gin or the rum price? So is it a spirit and a mixer you get? or do you have to buy them separately which could put the classic package drink combination over $10 for a G&T? Many thanks, love your film 🙂
Hi Graeme, thanks for the great comments. Yes you will get the mixer included so you can definitely have a g&t within budget! Have a fantastic cruise 🚢🥂🎉
Thank you! I missed out on so much with my Premium Package last year. I have a long back to back Celebrity cruise in 3 weeks. I am definitely going to get the most out of my Premium Package this year. Which sailing are you on next?
Glad it was helpful! 🥂 We are currently on NCL but not our cup of tea, itinerary lovely though, Celebrity win hands down for us and what we want out of a holiday! 🚢👍
Can you only get certain drinks at certain bars or how does it work? 80% of the time I would be drinking bourbon (Gentleman Jack or Woodford Reserve), so can I get that at any bar or would I have to go to a specific bar? I ask because from the videos, none of the bars look particularly big, so I'm guessing they can't stock everything. Would be a shame if you're relaxing at say the rooftop garden, but have to go half way along the ship to get the drink you want.
No from what we can recall most drinks were available at all bars, the bourbon shouldn’t be a problem, it’s just the Macallan specialist whiskies that were limited to some bars. Have a great cruise 🚢 🥂
The classic package is supposed to have sodas in it too - do I need to get them at the bar each time I want one or is there a place in the buffet cafe to get a soda?
What about the alcohol-free package? Does it include smoothies and specialty coffees or should I choose another package type? I'm going on my first Celebrity cruise on Monday ❤
We’ve just taken this off the Celebrity website : Refresh with a selection of premium bottled water including Evian, Perrier, San Pellegrino, Aqua Panna and Vitamin Water. Indulge with specialty coffees, organic teas, bottled iced teas, fresh juices from The Spa Café, frozen smoothies, soda selections, Red Bull and a variety of non-alcoholic cocktails that are sure to quench your thirst. Hope this helps!! Have a great cruise ❤️
At Cafe al Bacio: are the non-alcoholic coffees, like lattes and cappuccinos, included in the Classic package? The Celebrity website doesn’t say…only the “Specialty Coffees” are in the Premium package.
Don’t think there’s much in it from memory, but we thought it was a good deal onboard so went for it. Also the person who pounces and signs you up is a friend for life! 😂 👍
We have the classic package as part of all included does it include the soft drinks? I am allergic to alcohol and can’t drink alcohol. Will mainly be drinking coffee and soft drinks.
Hi Laura, there are water stations in various locations on the ship but if you want bottles of filtered water to take back to your cabin then yes you will have to buy them. We noticed people carrying bottles from ashore in certain ports and Celebrity didn’t seem to mind. We are currently on NCL and it’s a strict no to bringing any water onboard! Hope this helps 😊

So, apparently, average non-alcoholic drinks rates around only $5 except for zero proof mock tail that could cost $6 per glass. Cocktails are around $12-$17 could be higher range to $20 per glass. Just imagine, if you only drink 1 non-alcoholic drinks + 3 glass of liquor. It could only cost you $55. The classic drink packages are $89 per person per day. Even if in one day you only buy 1 drink, you'd still charge $89 per day. So, imo, I think it's wise not to purchase the drinking package. And save money. Since I bet you won't drink that much especially in port days.
We found this to be true. When we first hit the ship and on the first 3 sea days, we drank enough to make it worth it. But as each day came, we found ourselves drinking less and less. The enamour of being able to drink whatever we wanted wore off after the first two days. We will pay as we go next time and use our OBC toward paying for it.
That's a really good whiskey selection? Really? No it's not. I took the premium package and I can already see that I'll be disappointed and I'm far from being a snob. First off, the single malt selection isn't great at all and the bourbon selection is shameful. No Blantons in the bourbons, and way too many Johnny Walkers stuff including Gentleman Jack. All medium to bottom shelf stuff here in Canada anyway. It isn't even bourbon, it's Tennessee Whiskey.
Well you can always pay a small supplement for other whiskies if you’re not happy with what’s on offer in the premium package. If you’re unhappy why don’t you cancel the premium package and pay as you go?
If you get the deal which includes gratuities, drinks, wifi etc when you book then stick with that as you have unlimited soft drinks and bottled water etc. To be honest if you drink so little and it works out cheaper to book without the all in package then maybe do that, but just check the differential for gratuities etc as it’s usually a good deal to take inclusive package and the drinks are expensive to buy individually. People did bring bottled water onboard and Celebrity didn’t seem bothered about it.
Tip - if you want to upgrade then always do it before you get on board. Prices are cheaper when bought in advance.
