    Pairing the streamlined efficiency in the AC unit, along with the battery / solar set up. THIS IS WHAT WE WANT!
    We want the *ability* to use our amenities, while boondocking!
    We did the dream; left a full massive house, hit the road with out 17 ft camper, 5 adult-sized humans and a doggo, homeschooling, working, completing collegiate courses, and adventuring on the way! Lived 9 months out of the well-loved camper. Found ourselves enamored with Floridian lifestyles, and found a stix n brix home.
    After living with an entire family in 102 sqft, we are eagerly awaiting the opportunity to try the new FLX system in our travels! This video has us excited to see what options Winebago has for our needs!

    This is the "fallacy" of what people think when they ask, "can I run the air conditioner on battery" and then think it takes a monster battery to do so.
    The big change isn't so much a great battery and solar system, but rather a better air conditioner. Rather than increase battery and solar power, decreasing demand through more efficient systems is the smarter way and I applaud Winnebago for this kind of thinking and implementation. I think Winnebago has really created a unique package here with their FLX system and it's absolutely unique within the industry in doing so.

    So cool that you have the partnership with Winnebago. I like the way they use feedback and have folks like you testing and demonstrating their products. Back in 2018, when we were looking for our first RV, the wife really liked the 2108. Unfortunately, the micro minnies are only around 6'4" headroom, so that did not work for us as I am 6'3". So, we wound up with a Rockwood Minilite, which has 6'8" headroom. I am astounded that Winnebago has not increased the headroom, so that counts me out to upgrade to the FLX. Oh well.

    Great video, Robert!!
    It's good to see that Winnebago is open to suggestions on how to make their products better.
    One thing they should work on is making their trailers more aerodynamic. This would help fuel efficiency when towing

    • @AskRemy
      @AskRemy ปีที่แล้ว

      that's about as aerodynamic as you gonna get without increasing length or reducing interior space - it does not impact mileage as much as you may think - airstream is aerodynamic, towing mileage fuel consumption is about the same for most rv's

    Traveling Robert and Winnebago: a great partnership! You've really got the ideal setup for your style of travel. Although I like the idea of something like a Minitini, I have to say that I enjoy driving a well-handling car too much to ever go that route. Driving the California Coast or the Beartooth Hwy with a trailer in tow just wouldn't be fun at all, not to mention the ability to pull off/park just about anywhere. Ah, but the main point is just to get out there and enjoy what America has to offer, right? Happy trails!

Believe it or not, we learned the Micro Minnies even being 7’ wide with your Minitini I and at later time redesigned with the off-road package, we really like the design and got ourselves a 2021 2108DS. Though our Micro Minnie is not a flex but it is a project I am looking forward to expand the solar system, install inverter, transfer switch and lithium batteries. Thanks for the video and information. Can’t wait to see your journey to 49 states with Minitini IV!

    I have started seeing full darkened glass doors on some trailers. This would be a great addition to the Mine Line. Also I have a 2017 2351 with dual opposing slides. Hello Robert hopefully in the new trailer they built a wrap up of fiberglass material in the bathroom without connections, or attachments. When it is all one piece if creates a better insulation for the water to be retained and no leaks. Overall it seems that many of the upgrades do look very practical and durable. Cheers.

    I was one of the first FLX buyers, they are a bit ambitious with their length of time you can be truly off grid. Solo or a couple could go for 5 days off grid of they were disciplined with water usage and no AC. The real thing I have a problem with is that battery. Upgrading to a larger capacity with an extra battery, will cost you $8000. That's ONE battery... Lithionics does not sell direct, so you have to go through your dealer. Luckily, I can use the massive battery bank that runs my astro equipment in my truck to supplement the onboard battery. Other than that it's a great system.

    • @DavidJones-su9ob
      @DavidJones-su9ob ปีที่แล้ว

      $8,000 for an extra battery?! I don't know what types of specs you are looking at but I just upgraded my rig to a single 400AH lithium battery and it cost only $1,300.

    • @deimosastro
      @deimosastro ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@DavidJones-su9ob Yep, if you want the same battery that comes stock that's the price tag. It was my understanding that the extra battery has to be the same Amp hour. I really haven't taken the time to see if I could find a matching battery elsewhere yet.

    I had hoped that the 1708FB would come with the Flex package rather than the 1720FB. The 1708FB has a lower dry weight of 3360 compared to 3755 for the 1720FB. What matters most to me is the hitch weight, and the 1708FB has a hitch weight of 340 pounds, while the 1720FB has a hitch weight of 426 pounds. It would be nice if Winnebago get the 1720FB weight down. One can only hope that Winnebago reads this comment. • @AskRemy
    @AskRemy ปีที่แล้ว +8

    Am I allowed to be honest Robert? $64k for a tiny box that still cannot boondock outside of mild weather is not a good valuation. Why can't you all design a solution for an integrated mini-split AC? Take it apart, reconfigure, and install into the RV with your magic - NOW you have an RV that can boondock after you add 400AH to the current setup and 800 watts in solar panels that tilt towards the sun. If you can't do it - call Elon - he will resolve it for you on his lunch break.

    • @davidwheeler7503
      @davidwheeler7503 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry but Elon can't do it either. Battery energy is not reliable nor sustainable. 64k is just to start, be ready to invest 10's of thousands every 6-10 years just for maintenance updates to keep it useable.

      Despite what they say, you can aftermarket most of those features, including the shower miser and more efficient ac units and tankless (which many other mfgs are going to) for way less than that package costs. There's a huge markup there for warranty coverage and so called add in trade value, which I'm willing to bet, the Flex models might tend to depreciate a little faster.
