Wait is the sound system bad with this system? I love the default system audio. It sounds really good. If this is going to impair the full affect of the trucks stock audio then I don't want to change the screen. Sound quality means so much more to me than just a big screen.
When using the console app (sync system) you utilize oem sound/settings. Yes. I use Sirius all the time through the sync app or if you are in wireless carplay mode you can use Sirius there (Which would be streaming and not satellite) or you can download the Sirius app from the android store and stream from that way.
It depends on the year/dash style. If you have a 2017 f250 with the same dash as the f150 its the same screen just different settings seller selects before they send it to you.

I live in Arizona and my unit isn't working like it should now that summer is here and I'm not sure if it's the heat but it is coinciding with it. I have had issues from the get go of buying it in December 2023. I see all these other posts on how great this unit is but it is not great/good in my case. I'm regretting buying it. I've tried contacting Autotec (where I bought it from) but they have redirected me to their TH-cam videos which don't help much.
So, I had a Facetime meeting with a Tech from AutoTec Pro and he let me know that I probably have a bad APIM. (I've had the vehicle for more than five years with no problems due to heat) So, I uninstalled the radio and hooked my OEM radio unit back up and get nothing still which means my APIM is shot. Now I have to spend money($300) on a APIM. I tried to see what AutoTec would do and they won't do anything. I know I can't blame AutoTec but it is very strange considering how the OEM APIM attaches to the back of the new screen at the heat sink fins. Oh, and when I was uninstalling the AutoTec unit I could barely touch the fins due to how hot they were. So when it's 120 plus in the cab and the AutoTec Pro radio doesn't turn off unless you turn the vehicle off. Then the back of the screen adds even more heat. I'm no engineer but I don't think that it wouldn't overheat to the point of failure.

So you don't need a hotspot for Internet service and GPS access?😮
I use my phone as a hotspot for internet or you can buy an obd2 WiFi adapter from t-mobile have internet that way.
Bro, someone is obviously trying to get ahold of you 😂37 missed calls!
lol deleted all my voicemails after this video 😂
Can you do Google navigation and netflix on a split screen at the same time while driving?
Yes you can
Netflix on mine wouldn't spit screen, I'm trying to get into dev mode to force split screen on all apps. Carplay won't split screen either. Most of everything else seems to split screen.
@tremorb2998 i haven't messed with it too much but I can get netflix and just about anything else to split screen besides car play
Mine is a different screen. It's a 13.6 screen and operates off of Android 12 according toCPUZ even though it says Android 13. I'll mess with it a little bit more to see why Netflix won't go into split mode.
@@sce22dg ya CarPlay and sync app don’t split screen with the android 13 software.
Thanks for the great info my radio should be here by Sauterday ,, big question I have a 2020 f250 and I have ATT wifi on the truck its an OEM system to the truck. Will it continue to work after I swap out the radio. Or do I need a complete new system (SIM CARD) or will the ATT system be all I need
I don't believe it will. Either need to get sim card or I know some people run the device that plugs into your obd2 port (T-mobile has one) and then that creates a wifi hotspot or the other option is using your phone as a hotspot.
Have you figured it out how to get rid of the ac controls on the bottom of the screen?
Going to mess with it today and see what I can figure out! Keep ya posted
@@f1fiftyjimmy perfect thanks 😊 let me know
So if this is an android tablet. Will this work with iPhone? As in wireless car play?
Correct it’s does wireless CarPlay with iPhone.
When I’m using wireless carplay and get a phone call I can answer the call but about 5-10 seconds into the call something switches and I can’t hear the caller and the caller can’t hear me then the screen switches to console and FM radio starts blasting while i’m changing the phone setting to speaker phone. It drives me insane
If I’m listening to sirius and shut the truck off. When I turn it back on it starts on AM radio and I have to cycle through all the settings to get back to where I left it. Is there a way to fix that? So annoying
Ya I’ve noticed with Android 13 it seems to bring console app back most the time but I still sometimes have to select the channel.
I have a '15 lariat with sync 2. Would i get apple carplay with this or would i have to upgrade to sync 3
You would get apple CarPlay.
Is the microphone usable or do you have to switch to the OEM when making a phone call? I heard It’s not good! Would you consider this a dealbreaker?
I switch to my oem mic, takes just 2 seconds. I wouldn't let this be a deal breaker. Love having this screen setup!
Are there any known issues with phone calls and/or having to manually reboot the system? Is it stable and "forgettable" in terms of maintenance perspectives?
Phone calls I usually switch to the sync app if I’m not already using it (that way it uses oem mic) I think I reboot mine every 3 weeks or so. Pretty solid system. I love having that screen.
@@f1fiftyjimmy Can you explain the reboot procedure? External button hold for 10 seconds? Software menu navigation? Relative power cycle time?
I'm hesitant to invest in something that's going to be a bit of a hassle, especially if I sell the truck and want to keep it that way! hah
@@skyrider55 There is a small button you can click on the front of the screen with a sim card tool or if you swipe down from the top on the shortcuts you can click a simple reboot button. It boots in about 15-20 seconds. Its pretty quick really.
I may have missed it but why did switch back to the OEM system then back to this display again?
Ya I had switched to the oem to try something else out but I got another one of the 14.4's. Really like this display. Especially on road trips with maps and youtube.
Does it work with massage seats?
@@KaneCampbell-m6n anything that’s adjustable in the sync software is still adjustable since you swap your sync module over to the new display.
Hey what's up bro good video I got mine few months ago, what's your take on the microphone people keep telling me I sound low on they're end I've connected external mic supplied with it and still get people telling me I sound low I find myself having to talk loud for em to hear me, do you recommend just using tablet mic or external that's supplied in box have you had any complaints or changed any settings for that, thanks in advance other than that love the tablet
What a lot of people are doing including myself is just switching the call over to the console app. I never ran the external mic.
@@f1fiftyjimmy
What do you mean switch over to the fordsync? Does it do this automatically when you answer a call? I really want to keep the original microphones
@@cryptkeyper generally your either going to be using either the ford sync app or the wireless CarPlay which is the android side of things. Both will take a phone call via Bluetooth, sync app utilizes oem mic and wireless CarPlay will use the front mic in the lower left of screen.
@f1fiftyjimmy just to be clear, when the phone rings, you have to open up the console app if you are in the android side, then answer the call?
@@cryptkeyper You can answer the call on the android side and mid call you can still switch over to the console app.
Do you live in a cold climate? just wondering how it will do in the winter time. We got to -40 last year here in Wyoming (not normal) curious how it does.
With most cars having some sort of touch screen display factory it doesn’t seem to affect them. Should be good
I was wondering if you have a link for the 8-128 12" screen. I'm not sure I want the bigger screen.
Do you experience any/much delay/lag when making phone calls using the wireless Apple Car Play? I only ask because I have tried dongles in the past and they all have a good amount of delay/lag. It's wasn't terrible with music because it's not that noticeable until you have to change the song, but the phone calls were almost impossible to have because of the time it took to relay the sounds. Thanks!
Most of the time I just switch phone calls real quick to go through the sync app. I have found calls in the CarPlay app to not be as good. Going through the sync app uses the gem mic.
I bought a android 14 like you and my ac was working on the screen , now its not. I have tried to get guidance from seller, and yes its hard. I have a 2016 F150 XLT , I found where it ask F150 HI F150 LO and so many protocols. which one do I pick and I go toSi auto, S2 and so on . So I was told to as well use 16 auto a/c. Can you please help me SIR
I have a problem WITH THE 14" My kid factory reset it and now there.is no back up camera signal. It says : NO SIGNAL. CAN ANYONE HELP HOW TO FIX IT?
Mine is doing the same thing no backup camera. Tell me what you did to get it fixed.
I bought mine a year a half ago and have had way less problems then with the ford oem system. In the 2014 you lose all buttons with the 14.4" screen. Is the update even worth doing?
To be honest not really. You lose the ability to split screen console and CarPlay.
Hey, the raptor has the heated stearing wheel button in the ford sync app, can you still turn it on via the new screen?
Correct
How do you upload the wallpaper you have for sale? Through the SIM card?
I just send it to myself via email and then open that email through the web browser and download it.
Does it have hookups for aftermarket amp?
have you figured out a way to hide the on screen AC controls?
turns out there is a setting for that in the system settings page !
@@angrycactux what’s the setting labeled? I’ve gone nuts looking for it…. It’s probably in my face but I can’t find it. Thx in advanced!
@@JOVANK7 Settings > System > Factory settings p/w 7890 > scroll down to reserve AC controller and turn it on, the on screen controls will disappear.
@@angrycactux Thanks for the response brother, unfortunately that did not change it for my system. I've read on some forums that something changed with the newer versions one Nova and perhaps some how it's been disabled or overrides the system setting. I'm guessing that it may have to do with that. (I'm also running the Android 13 on mine). At this point I've had it on my truck for a little over a week and I'm getting used to it.. ha! Thanks though!
I have this screen and When someone calls me and I answer the call using the steering wheel “phone” control, it puts the call on hold instead of answering it. I have to actually hit the “phone answer” button on the screen itself to answer it without placing the call on hold. Does this happen to you or do you know why? Thanks!
Is there still an option for massage seats?
Should still work since that would be an option in the sync settings and you don't lose any sync options.
Did you start out with Android 11 and upgrade to Android 13?
I can’t run wireless CarPlay and connect to my phone hotspot to run the Android apps, wondering if you’ve figured out how to do that. Thanks!
This screen came with Android 13, working on trying to find an update file. I think even with Android 13 you can’t connect your phones hotspot while connected to wireless CarPlay.
Awesome, thanks! I’d love to update mine from Android 11… and I figured it wouldn’t change the hotspot deal, but it would be nice to have an updated core system.
@@davidtodd5001 I should be getting the android 13 update. Stay tuned!
@@f1fiftyjimmy just saw you that you want an email, so I sent you one. Thanks!
I know youre using nova launcher. Is there any way to get around the "console" app opening on startup? I have the nova launcher selected as the default launcher, still opens console app when turning on the truck and the console app screen flashes when turning off the truck.
From what I’ve noticed in Android 13 console app pops up more upon start up. Android 11 it didn’t. Not sure how to rectify that right now.
Does it suport xm satellite radio
Yes. I use Sirius all the time through the sync app or if you are in wireless carplay mode you can use Sirius there (Which would be streaming and not satellite) or you can download the Sirius app from the android store and stream from that way.
Which model did you get? Did you get the 4gb of Ram or the 8gb ram?
8gb ram with 128gb storage
Have you had issues of it freezing up because it’s a tablet how often do you restart it?
Maybe every 2 weeks. Think it’s been about 3 weeks since last reboot.
@@f1fiftyjimmy how long does it take to turn on? And what logos does it show when turning on
Is there a difference in F150 and F250 350 ?
It depends on the year/dash style. If you have a 2017 f250 with the same dash as the f150 its the same screen just different settings seller selects before they send it to you.

Are you experiencing any lag or delay?
Not really. It’s overall a pretty decent unit in terms of speed but Android 13 has been good so far.
Lag/delay is to be expected with any wireless carplay. The experience going from wired to wireless is noticeable. On the other hand regarding the Android 13 os experience using Nova Launcher it is actually stable and fast.
How do you update to Android 12
Android 13 is the newest update. Shoot me an email at jimmystrait@gmail.com for the update file. Although with android 13 CarPlay and Sync app do not support split screen anymore.

How is it with heat? I live in Louisiana so it gets pretty hot
I'm assuming its good. I don't think out of all the research I have done anyone has said anything about heat issues.
@@jarrodwood4833 what software are you on? My unit is on Android 13. I do have the android 13 file on the way too.
@@f1fiftyjimmy I'm on Android 11. Now I have no volume control and Autotec isn't responding to my emails! I'm about to put the 4" OEM back in.
