The "2 week trial size" idea is a stroke of genius. I cannot understand why this is not already a thing. So many products I will just pass on altogether because the cost of sampling them is high risk vs just sticking with what I usually buy.

As she's said, every skin is different. Just like people have different hair types and scalp concerns, they have different skin types and concerns. As you shower everyday, you should wash your face every day. Whether you only need water, or you also need a facial cleanser to cleanse your face and any products you've use, depends on your needs.

I just discovered your channel about a week and half ago, I turned 41 in January and finally felt I needed to invest in my skin. I have been told a lot by the ladies and guys at Nordstroms and Sephora about what I need to buy to curb aging and that included numerous products such as the fore exfoliator, Dr. Gross's peels, eye serum, eye moisturizer, matching cleaners etc...all to the tune of hundreds of dollars for 3 months of skin care. I even bought La Mer products 2 years ago! No one told me I needed sunscreen, I always thought I never needed it because it was in my foundation. I happened to run into CVS to look for the Roc eye treatment on the same day I discovered your CVS video and I went back and bought products you suggested. I really like how you keep it simple and affordable. Thank you!!!

Just received my first Hada Labo Hyaluronic Cleansing Foam, and do I ever LOVE ❤️ it!! For years, I have been using the Peter Thomas Roth anti-aging cleanser, but this foaming cleanser has me hooked already. It’s affordable. I somehow love the foamy types of cleansers, and it doesn’t burn my eyes. I have dry skin, so it gives me a gentle cleanse without stripping the skin. I do remove eye makeup first with another two products, then do an all over wash with the Hada Labo-perfect. I’ve already ordered more, thank you, Dr. Dray 🥰

Great information. I bought the Zapzyt , and VaniCream Lite last week for my 13 year old grandson. We are starting his skincare routine this week, I'll let you know how it goes. I would like to teach him about taking care of his skin at this age. I use the Hada Labo Oil and foam. My 33 year old daughter also enjoys the Hado Labo. You are so practical for us. My granddaughter gave me some essential oil rollerballs last year for Christmas, boy did they do a job on my skin! Oh, while I was a Kroger I purchase the Tazo Lemon Cake Tea, can't wait to try it. I love Albolene cleanser in the tub container for my cleanser. Cleans and removes makeup extremely well with a warm washcloth. No tugging at eyes. I also followup with Cerave (in the large tub container) for dry skin. Its really thick but does not leave greasy skin. It actually is a great makeup primer as well.

I had been told for years not to bother with medicated face washes because they were useless and ineffective. After watching many of your earlier vlogs - I started using the CeraVe SA & or the Zapzyt in the am as well as the Pore Clear with the BP at night. I will typically double cleanse to remove eye makeup and SPF at night before I wash or treat, and when I use the medicated washes, I only use them on the acne-prone areas of my face. Often, I'll leave them on long enough to brush my teeth, and then rinse them off. If I'm especially dry the days following, I will alternate to a creamy CeraVe wash suitable for sensitive skin and hold off on the treated ones.
I also purged a lot of my extraneous skincare and makeup and just stuck to using a couple of different washes (depending on my skin's "mood"). After I wash, I hydrate with an HA + CeraVe moisturizer. I do use a couple of vitamins and antioxidant serums from the Ordinary to help heal my hyperpigmentation. The ones I use are fragrance-free, oil-free, etc., you know the drill. I'm a natural redhead, so I've been wearing sunscreen daily for decades. Loving the Nivea (Japan) Spf you tried a while ago. I top it with the PC tinted moisturizer/mineral SPF, but once I use it up, I'm going to try the Elta one. I wear minimalist makeup - mostly eyes and brows - so my tinted SPF is like having a hint of foundation to blur any discoloration.
I've tried all sorts of regimes and found, per your suggestion, that less truly is more. I find focusing on a few key products is good, otherwise, I don't need the rest of it. Using the medicated washes in lieu of slathering on topical treatments day and night (though I will use BP 2.5% at night if I'm using a non-med creamy wash), and paying more attention to the quality of hydration (on my oily skin) has made a world of difference in my complexion in the last few weeks. I'm not sorry to say that my skincare is bland and simple.
    Thank you. Love the channel.

Dr Dray. Tried the vanicream cleanser tonight. Kind of smells like plastic, but this is the first time in years I've been able to put moisturizer on my face after cleansing and it hasn't burned. I think this one might be a keeper. And my skin doesn't feel tight or itchy. What a concept! Thx

I just have to say, I found you about a month ago when I was suffering from extremely dry, irritated skin.... it looked a lot like perioral dermatitis. I stopped all my regular skin care and went out and bought neutrogena gentle cleanser and cerave moisturizer and my skin looked great after a week. I usually have very oily acne prone skin so this was something I’ve never had to deal with before. Thank you so much for all your work on these informative videos! I’ve learned a lot :)

Hi Dr Dray, I recently discovered your channel and have been binge-watching your videos like many of your fans! I decided to purchase many of your recommended products on amazon, and guess what - there is literally a “frequently bought together” combination of the Zapzyt cleanser, hada labo plumping gel, and hada labo cleansing oil. I found that very interesting and speculate that it is a testament of how effective your recommendations and reviews are! That being said, love your professionalism and your personality, wish you the best, and I’m off to buying a bunch of new affordable products on your list :)

I’m 36 and still get some breakouts but this has not bothered me at all. It removes everything and rinses clean without feeling at all oily. Also, I really appreciate your tip of using a moisturizer BEFORE Differin at night. I think I’ve avoided a lot of irritation by doing that. Thanks for all the info. Have a great day! :)

Dr Dray can you do a review of cetaphil? I love cerave moisturizers, but every single one of their cleansers clog my pores AND makes me dry & itchy. I can’t do the cult fave gentle skin cleanser either, but am interested in the gentle skin foaming cleanser as it doesn’t have fragrance! There is only 1 video on all of TH-cam about it & no review on beautypedia- I would love to hear a professionals opinion before purchasing something, since i usually trash new products & am stuck w what I have always known when it comes to my ultra sensitive dry skin :-/

You speak a lot about skin cancer and sunscreen I was wondering if it was in your expertise to talk about skin cancer and race in a video. I've heard so much conflicting information about the risk of skin cancer when you have darker skin, as well as how that relates to Vitamin D deficiency if you're maybe overprotecting your skin. I really like how your videos address how different products, treatments, and conditions effect darker skin. It's not something I've ever had my doctors talk to me about. I've mostly had to learn through trial and error. I would be super helpful to get that information from an expert. Thank you!

I know that this video is old but I just wanted to post here under the cleanser video (03/02/20) that CeraVe has changed their Hydrating cleanser.
I noticed it immediately this morning when started a new container of it. It had a strong smell. It hasn't lingered but I compared the old container with the new one and they rearranged the ingredients and added more.
Why do companies do this? You get a winner and then you go and update and many times ruin a product. So frustrating!
End of rant. I hope it's not a problem. I don't have issues with sensitive skin but I have grown to like CeraVe products (well three of them) and then they do this.

I am so glad this video exists. I have been trying out the Neutrogena Ultra Gentle Hydrating Cleanser for almost 2 months now. However, the last several weeks I was experiencing some irritation while washing and then itching. I initially thought it was due to healing acne and wrote it off, but as my face is mostly healed now and the itching is only growing more intense, I suspect I'm suffering from an allergic reaction. I did some research on the ingredients, and I'm curious what your thoughts are on ethylhexylglycerin in skincare products. Apparently it's classified as an irritant in the EU (although it apparently affects some individuals much more strongly than others). Do you think the amount of ethylhexylglycerin in the Neutrogena cleanser would be high enough to be the cause of my irritation? I just purchased the Vanicream Cleanser today and I'm hopeful that this one will be less irritating. Thank you for all the information and the list of good products to try!

Basic Bedard you might just have an oily skin type (maybe sensitive too) but your using a product/too many products with ingredients your skin doesn’t like. I had this problem up until a year ago when I finally learned which ingredients are too harsh for me . Also exfoliating is important but it could be that your exfoliating too much and stripping all of your oil away. It’s about finding a balance. Hope this helps!

It's absurd how good your content is. I say absurd because your content makes other people's content look so pitiful, that it's almost absurd. I have been struggling with dry, red skin for...oh, years?...and I can never figure out why. Well looky here, the Cetaphil cleanser that I have been using for a decade, though it indeed says it is for "sensitive skin" has SODIUM LAURYL SULFATE! Good friggin' grief. I've stayed with it because it seems to control the acne on my chin. So what I will do is wash with the Cetaphil there, and then the Cerave hydrating face wash everywhere else. Good grief. If this works, I will somehow send a magical fairy to bless you. Thank you!!!!

I am not a dematologist, but I would imagine that there's probably no need to use two different types of retinoids. They do basically the same thing, with Retin-a also being able to be used for anti-aging purposes while Differin is just for acne. I would think that using both, even on alternate days, would probably irritate your skin. I could be wrong, though! Hopefully the good doc will weigh in.

Speaking of eyes.. recently I got a face cream to use around my eyes. I didn’t get the companies specific eye cream because when I compared the ingredients, the eye cream has the exact same ingredients as the face cream! Oh ya and may I add the eye cream was $15 more! Can you clear up what the deal is with eye creams? Are they just a marketing ploy? Thanks Dr. Dray! ☺️

Hi Dr. Dray. Although not all have trial sizes, places like Target have an excellent return policy.

I know, but i feel badly that the whole opened big bottle ends up going to waste.

Dr Dray true....they don’t keep testers and that is unfortunate. Some places are actually good about using returns as testers.

Hi Dr. Dray, what do you recommend to use to wash your face when it's humid out and my oily skin feels greasy? Thanks. And tips for hair care in humid weather as well. Thanks again.
