They shouldn't have to deal with so many tourists only ethnologists and anthropologists should be allowed on that island to do research on that culture. The Moken also should have a say in what technology is allowed on the island and not have it forced upon them. They have lived a long time without help from the Thailand government so the Moken should have the last say on government interference.

There's about 2,000 islands further north off the Burmese coast that were pretty inaccessible last time I saw it back in 2007/8,even the mainland towns seemed really hard to get to as they were surrounded by jungle,I,m fairly sure sea gypsies were quite common,I wonder what the opening up of Burma& tourism has affected that region as it always seemed an escape for them,Thailand is ruined by tourism.

The Moken people need to be proud of their identity and never be ashamed of their culture. It is a beautiful culture.
One of the Moken helped me once when I was stranded by a high tide. I wish I could have thanked him in his own language.
