  • In Indonesia, the Bajaus, an ancient people of nomadic sailors, live freely in coastal cities. They gave up their nomadic life to settle down in houses on stilts. They have kept a strong relationship with the ocean, and live thanks to fishing. While the men fish, the women sell the excess fish at the market. The Bajaus are a free people, they think they may one day return to the nomadic life.

Hey George! I have lived in the Philippines for almost 20 years now and want to know what you think about the "Badjao" people who do not live on/near the sea here? I mean the ones that travel all over, begging in the streets. My wife says the government returns them to their ancestral homes frequently but they have discovered that many of them prefer begging and sleeping in the streets. Here in Davao we see them all the time.

Samal Bangingi from Bangingi Island Group in between Basilan and Sulu main land. Accordingly their ancestors are the pirate's during the Spanish times. My espouse is a Samal from Laminusa Island, Siasi, Sulu. Who familiarized me on the way each tribe speak, walk and stand. Here in Central Luzon my espouse have talked with them in their dialect which is Samal Bangingi. "Yangay" for Samal

all words are pronounced the wrong way because language is man made. Like Religions, and money and tradition etc.....true language of the Universe is energy and vibration.

@@spaceman5734 ... spoken language is separate and can never be the same as science language.
Spoken language can be differ from one to another.. so the right pronounce in a language is spoken by the owner of the language... not some non speaker.

Beautiful people and culture. This must be the blueprint for over water bungalows. The setup is exactly the same, down to the walkway. Difference is, one is free and the other costs thousands of dollars a night.
