I'm a little late to this party, but I actually just did something similar but added a couple QoL tweaks that make things a bit easier for me. I've got a LaunchPad Pro Mk3 that I'm using with my Verselab. Hook it up from MIDI out on the Launchpad to MIDI in on the Verselab, but on the Verselab I set the auto channel on the Verselab to channel 11 (though this can be whatever you want). What this does is says "hey if I receive input on channel 11, that input controls whatever track I have selected." If I have bass selected, it controls bass. If the kick track is selected, it controls that instead. Etc. I also added a couple custom modes on the Launchpad, where I mapped some "fader" controls to control some aspects of a track, such as the track level, FX sends, etc. These are all mapped to channel 11 so that again, it controls whatever track I have selected so I can quickly do sound adjustments on a track-by-track basis on the fly. One other custom mode has a grid of pads mapped to the kit track on channel 4, with each pad mapped to the respective kit pad on the Verselab itself so I can play out my kit on both the Launchpad and the Verselab, whichever I prefer. The note mode and chord modes on it also can be mapped to a specific channel or the auto channel, and locked to a key and scale to ensure I'm always in key too. It was extremely useful and made life so much easier. Happy to make a video on that if desired or give a full writeup here in case anyone wants more details.
Nice video, another thing that you can do to fully explode the integration of the M-audio with the Verselab (and with any roland groovebox MC101, MC707) is to map the Knobs to the CC midi parameters shown in the midi implementation chart. These include ADR envelope for the amp section, filter cutoff, resonance, sends, pan, etc. It expands the sound design capabilities A LOT. I have it set up like that with the AKAI MPK mini plus and its a game changer. From a rompler to a pseudo rompler. Cheers!
Chesley, you can also program one of the knobs on the keyboard to control the hidden CTRL4 knob of the MV-1 (since MV firmware 1.80) . is handy when you want to use Motion with your MV-1 sounds (to give them extra effects). The MV-1 is not able to use USB keyboards. maybe a USB -> 5DIN MIDI cable would work ?
This video was helpful! I connected mine to a Arturia Keystep37 pro. Which is nice because I can switch between the 4 different tracks easily for the bass, inst 1, inst 2, and Kit. Still experimenting, but so far it makes the MV1 much friendlier for composing notes and chords.
@@chesleyrolleMusic Men, I just got the two devices 6 hrs ago…going through all the sounds, still and some basic functions…up the learning curve :) Still wondering if 25 keys will last forever…but for now…until the first song is done…good enough. The fun of exploration :) Wishing you all the best 🍀❤️✌🏻
Find out well about the things that I am explaining to you, how is the evolution of the musical matter going, MIDIS configurations..., etc.. etc... good cheer and let's all go with joy...

Hello I have the Verselab MV 1 and the M-Audio Oxygen Pro Mini. I can’t get the midi to connect. The Mini Pro has an eighth inch out and I have that going into the Verselab “in” can you please help me with the setup.
I just bought that keyboard for my verse lab after seeing this video, it arrives tomorrow but I was curious how you get the audio out on the keyboard. Do you plug it into its own speaker or do you plug it into the mv1?
hi! great buy man this little keyboard is so amazing.it has some really great features..remember its only a midi Controller so the AUDIO comes out of the Verselab...so i MIDI it to the verselab useing a Midi Cable(Out of the Verselab into the midi controller) thats it.,have fun 1love
Did you ever find a way to do this over USB? I have an Akai MPK Mini that only has USB, no MIDI din ports. Alternatively, I was looking at the CME WIDI adaptor, to maybe use with my Roland Go Keys (which has built-in MIDI over BT). What do you think? BTW thank you much for these videos.
Thanks! But you didn’t mention how to set up rotary knobs on the M-Audio to control synth/fx parameters on the MV1.. you just explained how to play midi notes… Do you use your Oxygen as a synth /fx controller also?
thats simple because i DONT use it for that!! at the time of when i made this video i was just simply showing how I use a midi Controller with the Verselab...thats a video for someone else lol..bless up!

Good stuff Chelsey! Thanks for sharing!
I use an Arturia Keystep for tones and the pads for drums.
