  • A brilliant ride through wild and remote West Wales with biking buddies Miles and Scott. We ride up the daunting Devil's Staircase and then on the high roads for a circuit of Llyn Brianne before returning to that well known Biker cafe, The Owls Nest at Llandovery.
    This forms part of the Welsh Castles Tour later in summer 2022.
    I'm riding my BMW R1200R Sport, Miles is on his rare Moto Guzzi Bellagio and Scott on the best selling retro, a Royal Enfield Interceptor 650.
    I'm sporting some new riding clothing, a Merlin Yoxall 2 heavy duty wax cotton jacket in the rarer blue matched with Merlin Oakford Cotec wax cotton pants. Both as superbly comfortable and are currently available at Sportsbikeshop heavily discounted on recommended retail price, so I've grabbed a bargain!
    Music on the video is from TH-cam music library

    Can get forestry lorries using the road and they are LARGE necessitating hill starts. If stop need make sure put road foot down first not the nearside as often to low resulting in a tip

    Bloody hell, that's busy. Did most of that route and more in September this year (not sure of the digression but none of the steep bits are in the vid). Had lots more sheep and blissfully only saw 1 car and 1 m/c on the entire run. Happily go back again but not in tourist season.

      It was the first really good day this year (March) so everybody was out making the most of it. The road that continues past the remote phone box (see my video short) to Tregaron is really squeaky bum in parts and very narrow.

      It's an easy circuit. Start and finish at the Owls Nest cafe at Llandovery. Take A483 from Llandovery direction of Builth Wells. At Llanwrtyd Wells town centre look for turn on your left signposted Abergwesyn. Follow river. At Abergwesyn take the left signposted Tregaron. This is where the film starts. Follow valley (look for Red Kites) and on to Devil's Staircase. On descent look for left turn towards Llyn Brianne. Stay on this road around the top of the ridge as it follows the edge of Lake. Descend towards and through Ystradffin past the Nature reserve then follow river and valley all the way back into Llandovery. Good luck 👍 and subscribe to the channel 😃

      Best would be to get to Brecon. Head south on A470. Go past the veranda where the burger bar near pen y fan parking. Turn right at junction by beacons reservoir (I think) heading for Hirwaun. Stay on this road and take the right turn to Ystradfellte before you get to Penderyn. Head to Ystradfellte and bear right up sarn helen when u get to ystradfellte village. Follow that road to the devils elbow. You can get there from the north but it's easier to find from the south the first time.

    • @bikeaholic6386
      @bikeaholic6386 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If you follow the instructions above and start from Brecon, once you do the devils elbow from the south (as per my video link above) when you get to the roundabout at the end south of brecon, go into brecon and follow the route to Upper Chapel and onto Garth over the Eppynt Mountain, from there head towards Beulah and then onto Llanwrtyd Wells and turn right and follow the sign to Abergwesyn. This will take you through the Devils Staircase and then onto Llyn Brianne and down into Llandovery.

    Hi only just come across this video and it’s brilliant
    Do you have the gpx file for the route you took please

    • @blueyondermoto
      @blueyondermoto  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Adrian, glad you liked it. Unfortunately, I don't have a gpx. However, it's a very simple circuit. Take the A483 from Llandovery towards Builth. As you come into the centre of Llanwrtyd look for the left turn signed Cwm Ifon / Abergwesyn. At Abergwesyn take the Tregaron road (this is where the film starts). Follow the valley, climb the Devil's Staircase and as you descend look for the left turn to Llyn Brianne and Ystradffin. The road hugs the hill overlooking the lake descends eventually to Ystradffin and runs straight back into Llandovery. Famous last words...you can't go wrong! Good luck. The GS boys on the film were on Triumphs as it turned out and messaged me to say they'd seen it.

    • @blueyondermoto
      @blueyondermoto  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I've also got a couple of shorts showing the Tregaron road (if you don't take the left to Llyn Brianne) and also another view of the same route.

      That's always the squeaky sphincter moment that you dread on that road. The section to Tregaron (not filmed ) is equally challenging. That's some run by the way👏

    • @blueyondermoto
      @blueyondermoto  ปีที่แล้ว

      Its very simple. Leave Llandovery on the A483 direction of Builth Wells. At Llanwrtyd Wells take a left turn to Cwm Irfon / Abergwesyn. At junction in Abergwesyn, turn left signposted Tregaron. After steep descent from Devil's Staircase take left towards Llyn Brianne and keep following this road around the lake and back all the way to Llandovery. About 40 miles in all
