- In this video, I score an OEM fastback roof for free (watch to see how) and I prepare Masutangu for its yearly outing at the purist-ridden Ford Nationals. FWD burnouts, hidden camera negotiations, and the usual immaturity all ensue!
"Masutangu" is my 1965 Ford Mustang Coupe that I body-swapped onto a turbocharged 1996 Honda Civic chassis. It's the world's first front wheel drive, Honda-powered classic Mustang. Watch the entire build on my channel!

That was actially quite a bad negotiation. He could have raised less than a 1000 in the beginning but directly set the thing up for 5000k

Its a breath of fresh air to see the very much younger generations excited about cars and to see the enthusiasm diplayed while you are having fun.
I say kudo's to you for making a plan and marrying two very unlikely cars and making a streetable rat rod (i am not even sure what to call the car) and having a blast. Envy of half the country for the guts to envision it firstly, then to actually build and drive it secondly.
Dont worry about the nay sayers, you will always be damned if you do and damned if you dont.

I’ve owned my ‘65 289 hardtop for more than 40 years and it’s about to get a 5.0 transplant. I love early Mustangs, needless to say. What you’ve done with this car is nothing short of amazing. I’m hoping it gets a more finished look someday, but in the meantime, enjoy it as it is and good luck with the fastback conversion.

I love this build so much! This video reminded me of the time I made all the other 64 1/2 mustangs worth more money. I was working on a 66 a guy was having built to remake his lady's high school car. The roof was bad and he acquired another body shell for us to take the a good one from. When it arrived I noticed the shock towers weren't for V6 like he said the car was. I ran the vin plate. 1964 1/2 V8 4 speed car originally. Something like 123 made if I recall. Called customer up and told him what I found and asked what he wanted to do. Said no title, too hard to get and just use the roof...he didn't care. I giggled with glee as I cut that car into 6 pieces for the roof and the scrapper. The rest of em were slightly more rare and valuable and that 66 looked a million bucks with the new roof. I love telling mustang guys about it at car shows. Wish we had cameras on our phones back then so I coulda saved some pics LOL
The mustang was the civic of the 60s and does't deserve the revere it gets. This is the PERFECT engine swap!

This is pretty neat. The video doesn't show all the knowledge, research, and time/effort put into everything at the end of the day. The upset boomers don't see it and that's why theyre getting mad. This project is incredible and super cool to see, great job man and keep it up.

Tom I must admit I respect what you are doing. I am a classic ford collector and restorer. What you are doing would be considered blasphemy within my community, but people have to understand that this is a generational repetitive act. When I was growing up we modified our cars, and those before us said the same things to us that are being said to you now.
Do I like what you did to one of my beloved cars…..no, but that doesn’t mean I can’t respect it. Cars are a form of expression, and you are transforming this car into your voice. That’s something up I can always appreciate.

I'm usually a purest when it comes to cars but I love seeing how different people express themselves with their cars and when you go to shows you'll see tons of nice original restored cars so something different is always cooler.

This was beautiful, what a piece of TH-cam content. This is the best video I’ve watched all day, love the energy and the funny and functional content. I like to see TH-camrs that actually are having fun.
Don't listen to the people that try and put you down. This car stands out because it is different and to me those are the coolest builds. I like sleeper builds and unique engines custom work etc... those are the cars at shows I want to check out the most.
Not a mustang guy at all, but this build had intrigued me and I am definitely looking forward to seeing it in fastback form.

I love this. It's a really good build and it's meant to be fun. Its destroying that 'eleitist" mentality that has ruined the car scene from what it was. It used to be fun and was about coming together. This makes me smile when I watch it.

I'm not a Ford or a Mustang guy, but man that is one wicked car! I really like your closing statements on the Fastback conversion as well. This may actually be my favorite Mustang out there and I really love and appreciate the craftsmanship you put in to make it work with the Honda Civic chassis. This car reminds me of the Fastback Mustang from Fast & Furious: Tokyo Drift that had the Nissan RB26 motor. Its a really wicked car that I hope inspires many other unique custom creations in the hot rod community.

Make sure to use Synchrotech for the Hondas trans instead of regular gear oil. They are pretty particular on fluid when you get into higher hp. Should help with the grind even if the trans is worn.
