  • In this lecture you will learn the technical aspects of psychrometric concepts by the help of showing them on TS diagram of water. However in my previous lecture you would have learnt about the Basic concept of psychometry, In this lecture the following things can be learnt.
    1) The concept of vapor pressure in humid
    air
    2) The saturated and unsaturated air
    3) The connection of vapor pressure with
saturation or humidity content of air

Can we plot the changes in air property in these process on TS diagram ??

Dear sir, Thanks for the lecture. But at 42 degree Celsius if i put water of different temp., what will happen? i mean what you r showing on the T-S diagram (ex: 38* at 0.0662 bar) is the condition after completion the full evaporation. At first stage water should evaporate at much lower temp as initially the pressure inside the bowl is very low.

No, initialy, air is inside the box at one bar, however completely dry.

Wonderful Sir...I still remember you explaining us the 4-strokes of SI engine using a dummy in Gyan Vihar mech block...it was my second year...can't forget the way you explained that whole process...thanks for such good lectures sir👍..I was in 2009-14 batch..M.tech DD (M.E + E.E) !
    God bless you🙏

Sir i have doubt,, air has 2 components(Dry Air+ water vapour) Humidity Increases as water vapour content increases in atmosphere,, but for water to get converted into vapour it needs 100 deg cel, at 1 bar
So in atmosphere we not proving 100 deg cel,, then how it's getting conveted into vapour and how leading to humidity increase
If you say sir,, here saturation pressure is less than 1 bar,,, so at lower temperature its converting into vapour,, then if it's like this,, then all water should start boiling na sir,, without providing it heat

Strictly speaking, boiling point is the point where the liquid emanates vapor with a pressure equal to or slightly greater than atmospheric pressure. At low temperature the vapor just making a mixture with atmospheric air . That mixed vapor has some pressure with it.

At 42 deg, water in bowl is converted to vapour.
From where this latent heat came?

Sir one doubt, when we keep the water at 42c its temperature will increase and using this rise in temperature it will evaporate and mix with air, however the temperature change (phase change) it not appreciable as the rise in temperature, then how can we say that the water gets cooled? Though its initial temperature was lesser than 42c.
