There's a famous story of a humanitarian and war surgeon, David Knott, who was invited to lunch with the Queen after returning from Syria. He was suffering from PTSD, and at one moment, became overcome with emotion. Sensing this, the Queen touched his hand, and instead of asking him anymore questions, opened a tin of dog biscuits so he could feed her corgis and talk about that instead. She even said "There, that's much better than talking, isn't it." Legend.
Ay given her families connection to the armed forces probably gave her quite an edge in recognising PTSD. Its that she also knew what to do and then did it. What a lady.
To add to that indeed legendary anecdote, here is one I heard from several years back. It shows quite a different aspect of the late Queen's character to the very touching one you outline but I hope you enjoy this as much as I enjoyed yours... Some thirty odd years ago, The Queen attended a civic lunch at the Town Hall in Rochdale. When it came time for the Mayor to announce that HM would be saying a few words to the assembly, he turned to the Queen to ask how he should address her. She turned and replied thus:- "The first time it's Your Majesty and thereafter it's Ma'am". With this newly acquired protocolary knowledge, the Mayor was about to proceed when the Queen continued - "but I shouldn't worry about it, you've been calling me 'luv' right through lunch...." As you said....Legend!!
Amazing stories!!!! I like Annie’s? Story. She was a lovely lady. I wrote to her when I was 13 with Guernsey Press clippings and her lady in waiting wrote back thanking me!!!!! I need to find these letters to make a few £/$€ !!!!! I really loved the Queen. King Charles is just too old and reminds me of spaniels.
I love what she said when she met Putin. That´s badass and witty and sharp. Putin made her wait for about 15 min and when he finally arrived a dog that was present (someone else´s) started barking. So the owner of the dog started apologizing to her and she remarked something like "dogs have some interesting instincts, don´t they?".
Dogs know, somehow they're aware. I had a dog that became alert before a car stopped by the sidewalk, he cut loose with full hackles up, growling and lunging. Another of our dogs went into full attack mode at 4 guys.
She wasn’t a sweet old woman in any way shape or form, she was a real bad ass, and when the truth about the so called royals is disclosed you’ll be sickened to your stomach 🤮
Her daughter, Princess Anne, when someone tried to kidnap her was asked to leave her car She answered "Not bloody likely." Definitely her mother's daughter.
I suspect she may have even said slightly more than that, when I watched her being interviewed about it she said she was fine till the would be kidnapper tore her dress, she said she seen red mist at that point but couldn’t repeat what she said lol
When she told Martin McGuinness "I'm still alive" that was so much more than her referring to her age; He was a leader of the IRA, who tried to assassinate her on multiple occasions. There's no way that wasn't a subtle dig at him. _Badass._
Her Majesty took the King of Saudi Arabia for tour of her Balmoral Estate. He was one of the first in the car, sitting waiting for the Queen and chauffeur, Her Majesty turned up and got into the driving seat.( The women in Saudi Arabia are forbidden drive cars). I believe he asked her to slow down at one point. The women in Saudi Arabia are now allowed to drive. She has done a lot, in a quiet way that most of us don't realise.
@Iris Collins it wasn't the king of Saudi Arabia it was one of the crown princes that she had drove around the Balmoral estate. Within the last 10 years women have been allowed to now start driving in Saudi Arabia.
I can’t believe she didn’t mention that the queen liked to mess with tourists. In plain clothes she’d walk around chatting with them and they’d be oblivious
@@katiekatconway1880 her ex protection officer tells a lovely story how just the two of them were walking in Scotland when they encountered a couple of American tourists. This young man knows so very little about so many things its embarrassing tbh. i'm American and our schools taught us more than this, makes me wonder if he went to school at all!
When she said "I'm still alive" she actually said it as more of a dig because he was one of many people who tried to assassinate her as part of the IRA.
Exactly what I thought too, it wasnt irony it was sarcasm but with a rictus smile, it was strongly rumoured that McGuiness was one of the masterminds and over bosses behind the cowardly execution of her favourite second cousin and confidente Lord Mountbattan of Burma, by hiding a cowardly remotely detonated IED in his yacht moored at his favourite holiday retreat in Mullaghmore killing him and half his family and a young local boy just after it put to sea on a lobster netting trip, as well as war hero, politician and first person to succesfully escape from Colditz Airey Neave M.P, killed by a car bomb leaving parliament I certainly wouldnt be in the slightest bit surprised to learn that her Majesty absolutely despised the little shit...and hence the barbed reply........"still alive" to his "how are you" greeting and I dont think she was referring to her advancing years !
@@usernamesreprise4068 Exactly this - her Royal duties required her to spend time with him in a civil manner and, as always, she performed them exceptionally. But she still managed to make her utter contempt for that cowardly little shit perfectly clear in the process.
@@usernamesreprise4068 -- I'll add that Lord Mountbatton's older daughter's face was sprayed with many, many glass shards of the exploding glass binnacle cover. They cut her going in and and each had to be pulled out, and no doubt some stitching up had to be done. She recovered , but was obviously very scarred. Her sarcasm was to call it "my IRA face lift"--- I saw her say that on TV.
Even with that evidence you don't know what she "really" thought of McGuiness. Her Government recognises his status as Sinn Fein Leader and i think Leader of Her Majesties Loyal Opposition. Therfore she may not exprressan opinion. Other than that he is a UK coitizen, onre of her subjec6s, ad hus one of hose she [pledged a life of srvic e to. On her 21st birthday the then Princess Elizabeth gave a speech to the nation in which she said "I declare before you all that my whole life whether it be long or short shall be devoted to your service and the service of our great imperial family to which we all belong." She couldn't have known at the time how long that life would be or just what she was promising, but she kept that promise in spades. Rest in peace, Your Majesty. God knows you've earned it.
An amazing woman who kept that promise. The lady BBC commentator for her funeral quoted this pledge of hers and tearfully said "Was anyone ever truer to their words"
the story about The Queen and the King of Saudi Arabia is great. She took him on a drive (women being banned from driving in Saudi Arabia) and apparently went at break neck speeds down the private lanes of the estate. How to make the point that women being incapable of driving is utter shite

She has a wicked sense of humour. Once when out on the estate in Balmoral with just a single royal police guard they came across an American couple walking the grounds. She was wearing a plain coat and headscarf so the couple didn't recognise her. They stopped and during the conversation one American turned and said 'have you ever met the Queen, i believe she has a house near here. Quick as a flash she pointed to her police guard and said 'No I haven't but he has'.
Yes they also asked if she would take a photo toghether and later when they passed She said to her aid : i would love to be a fly on the wall when they show the foto,s at home.😅
I remember that story and that it was BRILLIANT. Especially her comment to her aid, about how she would love to be a fly on the wall when they show the photos at home. She was a fantastic, great and gracious lady. RIP Your Majesty. This American has always admired you since I was a child in the 1950s.
The Queen's mother-in-law (Prince Phillip's mother), Princess Alice, was pretty bad ass too. While she was married to Prince Andrew of Greece, she served as a nurse in the Balkan War before WWI. After the Greek royal family were kicked out if Greece and fled to France, she helped to run a charity shop for Greek refugees near Paris. Later on, she was committed to a mental institution for years. Prince Phillip did not see his mother from the time he was about 7 until he was about 18. During WWII, Princess Alice went back to Greece and hid a Jewish family in her house and saved their lives. She was very deaf and when the Germans demanded to search the house, she pretended she couldn't understand what they were saying. During fighting in Athens, she walked the streets giving food to children. After the war, she founded a religious order, became a nun and dedicated herself to helping the poor in Greece. You can see her in photos of the Queen's coronation, walking out of the abbey dressed in nun's robes. When there was another revolution in Greece, she was persuaded to go back to England and live in Buckingham Palace. After she died, the Israeli government agreed to her wish to be buried on the Mount of Olives in Jerusalem and recognised her as one of the "righteous among nations".

A "helpful" task the Queen learned to do during the war, was take apart a truck engine & then be able to put it all back together again. A trained mechanic. 🇬🇧
Her mother lived to be 101. The James Bond bit is good but for the Platinum Jubilee she topped that by having tea with Paddington Bear. Look it up. As a mechanic, she was able to diagnose problems with her vehicles as she was driving them. Once she called for assistance when she at a distant point on an estate telling the man what parts to bring. When he was surprised that she was correct she reminded him of her wartime service. There are many more stories about our glorious Queen.
As someone already said here, she wasn't only "helping out", driving an ambulance and doing what she did wasn't at all without danger. That part of England was constantly bombed, and even though it was encouraged that the Royal Family should move out from harm's way, they decided to stay amongst their people. The blitz was tough, you should really watch a reaction video about it. She has also done so much badass things more that I would hope would have been on this list. She has handled political, national and international crisis, she has handled leaders and dictators, she is really fierce, smart and a master of diplomacy. They're are sup many REAL badass stories I wish was on this list instead! I'm Swedish, we have our own Queen but Queen Elizabeth II will always be THE Queen for me. She's a true inspiration!
When the Queen Mother was asked why the princesses Elizabeth and Margaret had not been sent to Canada for safety, she replied: "The children will never leave me, I will never leave the King and the King will never leave England."
I must say that I was really impressed by how much you did not react like a “typical” American .. you showed actual interest, did not pretend to know everything or just take cheap shots … don’t get me wrong I have no dislike toward Americans at all, just the overly vocal few especially on TH-cam who obviously thinks the world starts and ends with Americas borders .. so it’s awesome to see someone like yourself be truly respectful and neutral. Definitely worth a like and a sub
Apparently it was Catherine, the now Princess of Wales, who came up with that phrase. Wonderful that the Queen actually used it. Me-again is most definitely a liar.
She sent her mother, Britain's war time Queen, a congratulatory telegram on her 100th birthday. This women in this family are as tough as they come!!! God save the Queen!!
I can assure you corgis are vicious dogs when in a bad mood. My mother, who was a WAAF nurse, met the Princess Elizabeth when she was an ambulance driver. From what my mother said, she was not getting special treatment. The Princess was being treated the same as any of the other ambulance drivers. A friend used to work on the Queen's estate at Balmoral and she states that the Queen in an excellent shot with a variety of guns.
Just came across this today… Our (late) Queen literally died doing her duty (8th September 2022) I’m not a royalist myself BUT I did admire Queen Elizabeth. At the age of 96 she put MANY of us (younger generations) to shame. There will be no other like her. I hope she’s at peace with her beloved husband ♥️
Fun fact. Years ago the Queen visited the set of Game of Thrones. The crew asked if they could get a photo of her sitting on the Iron Throne but she refused. There is a law, saying that the British Monarch can't sit on any other Throne besides the Brittish one, real or fictional.
A bizarre twist, the queen having passed mere days after this video was released- it's a genuine off the cuff beautiful tribute- she was an immense badass.
I love her James Bond skit but the one she did just a few months before her death with Paddington Bear was hilarious. The Queen had a wicked sense of humour.
Was that real though??? I haven’t seen the James Bond skit ? I loved the Queen. I’m still sad. However she had best health care, didn’t do housework but most amazingly she had someone to “break in her shoes”!!!!! I’d love someone to break in my shoes!!!!!!!! God I love these videos! Learned more than my rather expensive girls school in the 80s!!!!!!!
i went to a cake show where someone had made a life sized Paddington bear in the queen's tearoom. The throne where He Majesty would sit opposite him. was empty. So poignant. i choked up.
There is a really good story missing on that list. During a parade in the seventies I believe, she was riding "en amazone" on her horse and somebody from the crowd shot at her with blank ammunition. She stayed so cool, her horse barely skipped a beat. The police was on the guy in seconds but at that moment she could not have known it was blank ammunition. And the first thing she did minutes after the incident was to stroke her horse to reassure him. For me, that sums up the queen. Courageous, kind and compassionate above all. I read you video on the 19 of september 2022. It made me laugh on a very sad day. The queen WAS a badass. Loved her so much.
Having the queen for me is sort of like having a reliable, sensible and dedicated granny. You know she doesn't hold all the weight but you also know as long as she's around, we're safe. I trust her. She's honestly not steered us wrong so far.
Since you did this video the Queen has passed away at 96. Her last public appearance was 2 days before her death. She had a wicked sense of humour and loved to pull pranks on people she knew. Corgis are herding dogs who nip at ankles and are protective of their family The Queen would also fix cars for people stranded on the side of the road near Balmoral.
it was one of my grandfathers favorite story from after the war, being a turkish cypriot imagrant who had just moved to england and decided to take my italian imagrant grandmother around the uk durring the summer, they ended up blowing a gasket or something in the engine, then just as they pulled over and where about to check, who would appear but the queen pulling up in her rangrover, he said it only took afew minutes as she realy knew her stuff, although i believe she was still a princess at that time
Several car enthusiast websites paid tribute to The Queen's love of driving and mechanical knowledge. A few even referred to her as the "Gearhead Monarch"! There is also a great scene in the movie "The Queen" that I love. She's driving her Land Rover across a stream and hits a rock, breaking the driveshaft. After wading out into the water and looking underneath to confirm, she gets on her cell phone and calls for help. "Yes, I've broken the prop shaft, the front one. Yes I'm sure, remember I was a mechanic in the war!" Love it and love her!
Not only does The Queen’s not need a driving licence, her car does not carry a registration number (“license plate”) either. All public roads are known in the UK as “The Queen’s Highway”. As the highway is (nominally) hers, why would she need a number plate or a licence to drive on them? As all legislation and all judicial procedures are done in her name, she couldn’t be prosecuted for any offence either. In the U.S. it might be the State versus John Doe”; in the England it is Regina (Latin for Queen) versus… So, if the Queen were to be prosecuted for anything, it would be “The Queen versus The Queen”. A true win/win situation!
Yet in her 96 years I don't think I heard of a single instance of her being a scofflaw. Some people do their darndest to break every law there is. Abiding by all laws when you don't have to is a level of good character some wouldn't even understand.
Not quite - criminal prosecutions in the UK are by the institution of the Crown, rather than by the individual of the Queen (or, now, the King). The distinction is slight but significant; the monarch embodies the crown, but they are legally distinct. So *if* there were a prosecution to be brought against the Queen - essentially impossible, as of course Charles I would argue, but *if* - it would be the Crown v Elizabeth Windsor. In any real sense, of course, sovereign immunity would take effect.
My favourite story was when someone fired several shots while Her Majesty was riding (sidesaddle) in a parade on her way to Trooping the Colour. Her horse spooked a little, but she calmly controlled the situation. Now THAT is badass
The Queen telling Martin McGuinness that she was still alive may have been something to do with his organisation having murdered her uncle in 1979 and tried to murder her in 1981. The fact that she out lived McGuinness by 5 years was pretty ironic.
“Self-irony, that’s not a phrase we use in America’ and that, in one sentence, sums up the difference between the UK and US 😅😜🥰 seriously though, the Queen has a tremendous sense of fun. Recently, she did a sketch with Paddington Bear and the reveal of what she keeps in her handbag was hilarious, she had perfect comic timing and a mischievous twinkle, worth checking out!
@@catherinelynnfraser2001 Self irony is NOT the same as self deprecation. Self irony: When someone can laugh at themselves and their own flaws as a human being. Self deprecation: When someone regards themselves as a lesser human being, than others.
It’s very common for members of the royal family to serve in the military. Her father, King George VI, commanded a battleship gun turret at the Battle of Jutland in 1916 (as the then-kings’ 2nd son he wasn’t expected to become king himself at the time); her husband Prince Phillip, had an active naval career in WW2 before marrying her, and would probably have become a senior officer in his own right if he hadn’t had to give up his naval career when she became Queen; her uncle, Prince George, Duke of Kent, was killed in an air crash while serving in the RAF in 1942. Of her sons, Prince Charles commanded a minesweeper in the navy, while Prince Andrew, whatever else you might think of him, flew Navy helicopters in the Falklands War. Of her grandsons, Prince William flew RAF air-sea rescue helicopters, and later flew helicopters for the civilian East Anglian Air Ambulance service; Prince Harry flew Apaches in Afghanistan for the Army.
Driving around in an ambulance during WWll was dangerous for anyone, especially during the blitz. My mum told me about the doodlebugs/V1 Rockets dropping and the panic when the noise stopped...
So many stories to choose from a monarch who has devoted her whole life to public service! One of my favourites is US tourists asking her in Scotland whilst she was walking if she had ever met the queen…. She’s says no, points at her security guard and says he has though 😂🤣
I live just over an hour from Balmoral. In the summer the Queen would vacation there. Police security from London and England areas would travel up. The military were posted at the Barracks at this small town called Ballater. I would visit there during that time. A lot of army geeps patrolling the streets at night while the Soldiers and Police hit the pubs. I saw one soldier getting reprimanded for being too drunk. I spoke to the police and soldiers they were mostly golfing. The Queen barely left the grounds except for Sunday Service.
The Queen’s had conversations with thousands of people, Kings, Queens, presidents, ambassadors, dictators and the military. Talking to a strange slightly deranged man after he walked into her bedroom was a piece of cake.
Yeah she's had lots of practice talking to deranged people. For instance a few years back she had to deal with some weird orange chap called Donald Trump. I suspect the intruder in her bedroom was a piece of cake in comparison.😄
Buckingham palace got bombed in the war, the king wanted to get his family away, but the queen's mum said no we stay. The queen's sister princess Margaret ( may she rest in peace, 🙏) went in the army too. You've got a lot more to learn about the royal family. Great video thanks 💖😁
If you want to see how badass the queen is watch when she was trooping the colour on her favourite horse Burmese and someone fired a gun at her,it was blanks but it scared her horse
remember that incident on the news. considering the fright and a veiled semblance of shock, she nevertheless maintained the "stern" expression befitting a British military parade.
That is my favorite story and clip of her. As someone who also rides, since childhood, I very much appreciated the way she kept her seat (riding sidesaddle!!!), calmed her horse, and kept on with the parade, as if nothing happened! She has crazy mad skills!
My claim to fame is that the Queen nearly ran me over on the long walk in Windsor! This was 8 years ago. She was tiny in her range rover driving along with a big burly security bod beside her. The long walk is closed to traffic apart from vehicles for the Queen. There I was with family walking along the road minding my business when I was suddenly became aware of a car...and there she was the Queen driving slowly behind me. I stepped aside before I ended up in the tower!!
The same thing happened to me and a friend of mine. Became aware of a car stopping and waiting patiently for us to get off The Long Walk - my friend didn’t even clock that it was the queen driving!
The Royal Family stayed in the thick of it all through WWII and Buckingham Palace was hit twice while they were resident. The King's wife (Queen Elizabeth) reportedly said after the first bomb damage 'I can now look East Enders in the eye' as the East End of London was where all the docks were and took a terrible battering. Hitler called her 'the most dangerous woman in Europe'. Many Americans just don't know or maybe realise that the UK was very much the front line for the majority of the war and we had to produce what we did under nightly bombing. 67,000 civilians were killed which was something no American ever had to experience at home. The other thing to remember is that the Royal Family is all about duty and when the then Queen Elizabeth was asked during WWII by a US reporter why the two girls had not been sent to Canada for safety she replied: "The girls will never leave without me, I will never leave without my husband and he will never leave his people"
On VE Day the crowds went to the palace to celebrate, the royals went onto the balcony to wave to them then Princess Elizabeth crept out to dance and sing with her friends in the crowd.
9:00 - fun fact, her daughter Princess Anne actually competed in the Olympics in the horse riding! As did Anne's daughter Zara Tindall, who I think actually won medals. Entire family learns this stuff at a young age.
And not just riding but at 3 day eventing, dangerous exciting and you have to be very skilled. All the Royal children including the Queen rode from when they were tiny, but horses, racing and breeding were her passion.
How can any story about the Queen and WW2 miss out that on the night of VE day, when the war officially ended and the people of London were celebrating, the Queen and her sister sneaked out of the palace and partied in the streets with the crowds? No security, not protection; just two girls enjoying that war was over.
Actually that's not true, the king did know as they asked him if they could and he sent them with a small group of companions including a few guards to make sure they were safe
Our Gracious Majesty is indeed badass. The 2012 Olympics James Bond sequence was so much fun. And the Paddington Bear skit to start the Platinum Jubilee Party at the Palace in June this year was fantastic too!!
My Dad wasnt really a Royalist, but when living in London in the 50-60s he joined a crowd who were waiting for someone. He stood a little apart from them and realised it was her Majesty in her carriage! He said he never got starstruck..ever..but when the Queen waved at him when she went by, he felt her presence. I loved hearing his stories. They both have passed now. RIP to my wonderful Dad and wonderful Queen Elizabeth ii xo

Yes, hmmm the video somehow neglects probably Her Majesty's favourite passion - horse racing especially her patronage of the traditional Royal Ascot meeting. She probably altered her timetable of protocols in order to watch TV racing and also owned some great champions such as her filly Dunfermline which won the Epsom Oaks and Estimate which won the Ascot Gold Cup the prize being presented to her at the course by husband Philip really cool.
I was there at the time The Queen took the shot in the photo. The rifle was set up in a cradle all lined up. Unfortunately, the wind changed just before she took the shot and instead of hitting the bull, it just hit the inner. She was rewarded with an "inner bull".
Its so good that you are falling for the Magical person our Queen is and why she is loves as a person and our Monarch. She is a great human being who is always there for us and has given us her whole life. God Bless The Queen. and her Subjects.
Self-irony means laugh at oneself. Basically she doesn’t take herself too seriously. Phillip kept her laughing their entire marriage. She actually has a wicked sense of humor.
She and Philip had each other's back in public. The queen's smile could light a room, but as she herself observed, her face at rest looked gloomy and unhappy. When Philip saw that look on her face in diplomatic soirees, other public gatherings, he'd circle around her, whisper in her ear, to her surprise, some line of nonsense to catch her off-guard, to cause her to laugh, and then they'd both look as if they were having a good time. One line he used was, "Why so glum, Cabbage ?" ]. Sometimes he'd quote or misquote a Bible verse that was funny in the context of the situation, such as "Why do I hear so many sheep baa-ing?" . . . .In turn, sometimes the Queen would hear Philip's voice rising, as he began to get on his "high horse", great old expression, with guests, and she'd rescue him from himself. She'd walk over to him, and interrupt him, saying, "oh, Philip, do come over here, and see this interesting . . .[ whatever ] .". One time a photographer at a diplomatic gathering on the second-storey outdoor deck of a palace in downtown capitol city in Africa surreptitiously looked over the balcony wall, and saw nothing-- the Queen had invented "the interesting man" just to lure philip out of embarrassing himself.
QE2 is the measuring stick for duty, majesty, and self-control. She's the "keep calm and carry on" poster child. Plus she's got a sharp side. I'm a huge history buff and watching you trip out on the Queen is delightful 😂
Corgis are tough and agile herders and protective. The gun she fired actually has the sight far down the barrel. During WW2, Joseph Kennedy was ambassador to the UK. He fled back to the US. Meanwhile, Buckingham Palace was bombed and her father and the family refused to leave the UK in spite of continuous NAZI bombing. NOBODY could be completely protected from the bombing regardless of their status except if they also fled like Dutch royalty who had to come to Canada. The day the war ended she partied with her sister Margaret in the London streets. Nobody would guess who she was. The future Queen partying with the folks? Who'd a thunk it! She has a great sense of humor. Arguably the three greatest monarchs of the UK were women...Elizabeth I, Victoria and Elizabeth II.
The queen can speak and have conversations with anyone, she remembers she is human and she is privileged She has been a strong head of our country and she cares and uses her position to bring focus on charities and organisations that do good work She is private and does a lot behind the scenes over the years she has been serving the country, she’s the last of a generation which knows themselves and understands responsibility
I'm a young, fairly liberal man who isn't even religious but God save the Queen. Just to clear up the passport/licence thing, in the UK those things are issued by the queen so it is essentially her saying (through her agents) that the law enforcement person needs to let her subject through (or let them drive) at the border. She doesn't need a passport for example since, she can just tell them herself. Having a card that says "I order you to let me through" is a bit redundant
i’d say the same really, i’m centre left also, and can see some of the issues with monarchy, yet she has this humility and humane character that makes her special and i think the type of constitutional monarchy that has developed and how she has been dignified and given some inspiring speeches - thinking during Covid how she seemed to be one of the few world leaders that gave a morale boosting and on point speech - that i feel a lot of affection and admiration for her. Scanning around for alternatives, i think we’ve been lucky to have someone like her as head of state.
Having the Queen, blessed be her reign, stops us from getting Trumps and Macrons as PM Yes of course our PMs are quite often lunatics, but they're rarely dangerous lunatics!!!
Same. It only takes a little while watching documentaries of her life to be impressed. Just the amount of discipline it took, and does take, to stay on her game at all times and maintain a stable and levelheaded respectability. She's a juggernaut. An absolute unit.
There is great story of one time when she was taking a salute on horseback. The officer sat on horseback next to her. His horse took an almighty noisy dump that went on for about two minutes. The embarressed officer turn to her and said "I'm sorry about that Ma'am". Quick as a flash she said "That's alright, I thought it was your horse"! Haha, badass or what!
There are indeed several other queens. Margarethe II of Denmark is even celebrating her golden jubilee this year - she's the only other Queen Regnant, but there are Queen Consorts of Spain, Jordan, Tonga, Lesthoto, Bhutan, Belgium, The Netherlands, Norway and Sweden and also Margaret of Romania, who is styled Her Majesty, Custodian of the Crown of Romania. There are also Grand-Duchesses of Luxembourg and Liechtenstein and The Princess of Monaco, who is the wife of the Sovereign Prince. Elizabeth II is currently 96 and has reigned for 70 years and 7 months. She is the longest-lived queen ever, of anywhere! In history, just one King of France has had a longer reign - and she has only about 18 months to go to overtake that record! She was about 93 when she was pictured with Prince Harry at 5.50. Since the death of her husband Prince Philip (who was less than 100 days short of 100 years old when he died), she has become increasingly frail and now works mainly online owing to increasing problems with her stamina and mobility. She was also the longest married - over 73 years. She is the only one of the remaining monarchs who served in the Second World War, albeit in a very minor role and only for the last few months of the war as she was too young before that. She tends to wear extremely bold colours and hats so that she stands out of the crowd and leaves no-one in any doubt that she is the queen!

Im not from the UK myself (Dutch over here with a different royal family), but I’ve always admired her!. She vowed at a young age that she will work hard for the people and countries and she definitely succeeded ❤️ Even though she was 96 I was still shocked and saddened by the news of her passing 🖤 part of it is because most of the people alive today have always known her as the Queen of England so her passing away takes a lot of getting used to (our former Queen retired voluntarily years ago that also took a lot getting used to even though her reign wasn’t nearly as long, Beatrix reigned from 1980 till 2013). Rest In Peace your majesty ❤️🇬🇧
Many years ago, while driving during a bad winter storm, she and her bodyguard got caught in a deep snow drift and couldn't get out. Seeing a pub nearby she jumped onto the back of the bodyguard, and they stumbled into the Inn during the storm. Very quietly she was shown the best room the inn had and spent the night there. Customers in the pub just saw two people talking to the landlord and didn't think anything of it.
The Queen was recently bereaved prior to her coronation day. Both her father and grandmother died within a very short space of time. She is always very stoic. The Queen pardoned the dead soldiers who had been shot for cowardice during the 1st world war. She also pardoned Alan Turing : world war 2 code-breaker for being gay. Look up all of the people the queen has pardoned over the years, it makes very interesting reading.
The SA80 gun sight is used at a distance like that rather than close up, it's a slight oddity. The gun she's firing is also mounted on a table for her to use so she isn't handling it per se. The Queen was indeed awesome, RIP.
I love her with her dogs. Love that the dog getting in the plane is a Dachshund and stops to bark. She mostly had Corgis, but also had Dachshunds and Dorgis.
she's just a normal woman who had this level of responsibility, and she did it, she never wanted it, she wasn't even in the line of succession. She's an amazing and accomplished woman. RIP
Sweet old woman? HM the Queen was the last monarch who was a veteran of World War 2, she worked in a motor transport unit where she learnt to maintain and drive motor lorries.
When the Queen served in the war she learnt how to strip an Engine down plus many other practical things. She definitely played her part in WW11 We are so proud for this 🇬🇧🇬🇧

When she made the comment (self-irony) about Justin Trudeau, Prime Minister of Canada, making her feel so old. She is referring to the fact that she knew him as a little boy when his father, Pierre Trudeau, was Prime Minister of Canada (1968-1979 & 1980-1984).
TH-cam usually recommends big channels and videos with loads of views. I watched one Tyler Rumple video thinking that was the case, scrolled down and saw 20k views and 3k subs. The Canadian passeport is technically a letter from the queen asking the custom officials to let the bearer pass, I suspect all commonwealth passports are similar in that fashion. It would be silly for the queen to present a letter from herself.
HM has been told by her physicians to stop drinking alcohol. So, the gin and Dubonnet cocktails are out now. Her mother enjoyed a tipple and died aged 101. What’s Dubb-on-ay? … it’s French. Pronounced Doo-bonn-ay. Although apparently some of it’s made in Kentucky.
You gave me such a laugh young man! I think it's wonderful that you're taking an interest in the Queen, I'm a Brit who grew up in Australia, yet the British heritage in me remains 🇬🇧 she's awesome 👍🇭🇲
I still can't quite believe she's dead. It's been rumoured for a while that she had blood cancer but I was shocked when it happened. 😭 I met her 3 times & I will never forget it.
Very elderly people can be very naughty and mischievous, I expect the Queen is behind the scenes when she's talking to family and friends. My Aunt was 93 when she died 2 years ago, I spent a lot of time on the phone to her as she lived on her own although she did have good neighbours who looked out for her, doing her shopping etc. I'd be having a conversation with her and she'd come out with something very naughty and I'd say "K....." you can't say that (she was usually having a go at politicians and similar people" and she'd say "why not, I've just said it" and we'd both end up laughing for about 10 minutes. She was a hoot to talk to and didn't care what she came out with.
The last bit around being born in a place where you don't need to serve is kinda the opposite in the UK the royals serve a lot Charles was in the navy and captained a mine sweeper , andrew flew helicopters in the Falklands , William served in Afghanistan as did Harry
William never served in Afghanistan, but he did fly rescue helicopters for th Royal Air Force Search and Rescue and as a pilot for the East Anglian Air Ambulance. He served with distinction in the military and as a civilian emergency responder He also donated his entire salary to charity - obviously as a Royal he didn't need it, but all the same that means he effectively turned up to work as a volunteer.
The whole family is awesome! Prince Williams (grandson) is a helicopter pilot and served in war zones, just like prince Harry who is in the military for more like 10 years now, doing his mission in Afghanistan, etc. I won't mess (or change) with them! :-) Btw.: I saw the Queen once ... she is really small, but her presenation is absolutly huge! Amazing woman! Hardly to belive that she once was a truck mechanic at war!
The Queen was a good driver and a "creack!" mechanic. She loves to get under her vehicles and to repair them herself, like a real greasemonkey. She was an hospital ambulance driver and mechanic during W.W. 2, y'know. And as for horses -- well, she, and the whole clan of the WIndsors, loved horses and riding them.
The Queen became a truck mechanic and drove military and ambulance vehicles towards the end of WWII at the age of 18. Also not known widely is that members of the Royal Family have regular training with elite military people who teach them skills for any kidnap attempts, assaults or kidnappings etc.
Also, there have been several attempts on her life, or at least scary shooting incidents. One was at the 1981 Trooping of the Colours parade. Someone shot a pistol near her to scare her. He didn't. She soothed her beloved beautiful horse Burnese, and carried on like nothing had happened. Meanwhile the crowd nearby nearly tore the guy in pieces, so he was glad to see the guards who came to arrest him. Oh, and members of the Royal Family who served in the military were treated like everyone else, probably going back to the beginning. For sure the Princess Elizabeth went home to Buckingham Palace, but that was still in the dangerous zone, and the family ate the same as everyone else in Britain at the time, even during banquets with guests. They also used coupons for buying restricted things, like many foods. Elizabeth saved up coupons to buy her wedding dress, because even for several years after the war, the country still had restrictions. I think they may even kept up the blackouts for a time, just to be safe. People were worried about her having enough, and so many sent her their coupons that she had to issue a statement reassuring them and begging people to send no more.
Her family has amazing longevity. Her mother died at 101. I miss the Queen, as we all do so much right now, and it's so fresh. But I will always respect her for her amazing life and all she did for the world.
I don't think she does much of it any longer, but she used to hunt deer, especially when staying in Scotland. She also ate, everything she killed as she does not like waste.
Hi Tyler. I am british and love our Queen!! I just watched your video and it was fantastic you were highly entertaining and just made me smile that someone so young could be inquisitive about our very gracious queen. You too are quite amazing and have a very lovely smile and a very nice personality 🤗
You seemed to have missed the story of her driving the Saudi prince around the Scottish estate - full out terrifying the prince until he asked the translator to get her to slow down - HMQ DID NOT SLOW DOWN ❤🇨🇦
There's a famous story of a humanitarian and war surgeon, David Knott, who was invited to lunch with the Queen after returning from Syria.
With this newly acquired protocolary knowledge, the Mayor was about to proceed when the Queen continued - "but I shouldn't worry about it, you've been calling me 'luv' right through lunch...."
As you said....Legend!!
She has also been shot at during a Queens birthday parade while riding a horse side saddle.
Bless her ❤

I love what she said when she met Putin.
That´s badass and witty and sharp.
Putin made her wait for about 15 min and when he finally arrived a dog that was present (someone else´s) started barking. So the owner of the dog started apologizing to her and she remarked something like "dogs have some interesting instincts, don´t they?".
It was the then Home Secretary David Blunkett’s guide dog
Dogs know, somehow they're aware. I had a dog that became alert before a car stopped by the sidewalk, he cut loose with full hackles up, growling and lunging. Another of our dogs went into full attack mode at 4 guys.

Apparently he asked her to slow down several times and each time she sped up. Woman is a legend.
@Iris Collins it wasn't the king of Saudi Arabia it was one of the crown princes that she had drove around the Balmoral estate. Within the last 10 years women have been allowed to now start driving in Saudi Arabia.

She couldn't have known at the time how long that life would be or just what she was promising, but she kept that promise in spades.

She was wearing a plain coat and headscarf so the couple didn't recognise her. They stopped and during the conversation one American turned and said 'have you ever met the Queen, i believe she has a house near here. Quick as a flash she pointed to her police guard and said 'No I haven't but he has'.

Think the Queen Mum lived to 104, didn't she?
As someone already said here, she wasn't only "helping out", driving an ambulance and doing what she did wasn't at all without danger. That part of England was constantly bombed, and even though it was encouraged that the Royal Family should move out from harm's way, they decided to stay amongst their people. The blitz was tough, you should really watch a reaction video about it.
She has also done so much badass things more that I would hope would have been on this list. Fun fact. Years ago the Queen visited the set of Game of Thrones. The crew asked if they could get a photo of her sitting on the Iron Throne but she refused. There is a law, saying that the British Monarch can't sit on any other Throne besides the Brittish one, real or fictional.

Since you did this video the Queen has passed away at 96. Her last public appearance was 2 days before her death. She had a wicked sense of humour and loved to pull pranks on people she knew.
Corgis are herding dogs who nip at ankles and are protective of their family
The Queen would also fix cars for people stranded on the side of the road near Balmoral.

it was one of my grandfathers favorite story from after the war, being a turkish cypriot imagrant who had just moved to england and decided to take my italian imagrant grandmother around the uk durring the summer, they ended up blowing a gasket or something in the engine, then just as they pulled over and where about to check, who would appear but the queen pulling up in her rangrover, he said it only took afew minutes as she realy knew her stuff, although i believe she was still a princess at that time
The Queen is also Head of the UKs Armed Forces and is very knowledgeable about its history traditions.
In the U.S. it might be the State versus John Doe”; in the England it is Regina (Latin for Queen) versus…
So, if the Queen were to be prosecuted for anything, it would be “The Queen versus The Queen”.
And she didn’t pay road tax to herself either 😆
My favourite story was when someone fired several shots while Her Majesty was riding (sidesaddle) in a parade on her way to Trooping the Colour. Her horse spooked a little, but she calmly controlled the situation. Now THAT is badass
The Queen learned to drive when she was in the army during WW2. She learned to strip down engines and drive an ambulance then.
That much is evident from the video - or didn't you watch it through that far?
We love irony, sarcasm and just generally taking the piss
Self deprecation might translate better for you.
Lol we say self depreciation or self mockery. I think I'll add self irony to the list now
@@catherinelynnfraser2001 Self irony is NOT the same as self deprecation.
Self irony: When someone can laugh at themselves and their own flaws as a human being.
Self deprecation: When someone regards themselves as a lesser human being, than others.
As an american, we SHOULD XD
Also, her uncle, Prince Henry, Duke of Gloucester, served in the Army in WWII.
Prince Harry flew in helicopters during the Afghan war but he never passed his pilots license
Of her 2 grandsons, she said that since they have taken her shilling, they should serve. A great Queen who was dutiful to the very end
Driving around in an ambulance during WWll was dangerous for anyone, especially during the blitz.
My mum told me about the doodlebugs/V1 Rockets dropping and the panic when the noise stopped...
She is Cool most of UK Citizen dont even Imangine Great BRITAIN without the Queen
Her mum was also called the most dangerous woman in Britain because she carried a pistol in her purse and knew how to use it
May she R.I.P. She was clearly one of the strongest and most brave human being.

So many stories to choose from a monarch who has devoted her whole life to public service! One of my favourites is US tourists asking her in Scotland whilst she was walking if she had ever met the queen…. She’s says no, points at her security guard and says he has though 😂🤣
She even took a photograph of the pair with her guard, and also had her picture taken with them! 😂
Omg🤣
The Queen’s had conversations with thousands of people, Kings, Queens, presidents, ambassadors, dictators and the military. Talking to a strange slightly deranged man after he walked into her bedroom was a piece of cake.
Strange slightly deranged man in her bedroom. Prince Phillip?
It's in
The crown
Yeah she's had lots of practice talking to deranged people. For instance a few years back she had to deal with some weird orange chap called Donald Trump. I suspect the intruder in her bedroom was a piece of cake in comparison.😄
@@speleokeir That's a rather an unfair comparison don't you think? I mean if I were M. Fagen I'd feel deeply insulted.

@@speleokeir Let's not forget she was Queen of Australia, so was the head of state for an entire nation of croc wrestling lunatics!
Buckingham palace got bombed in the war, the king wanted to get his family away, but the queen's mum said no we stay. The queen's sister princess Margaret ( may she rest in peace, 🙏) went in the army too. You've got a lot more to learn about the royal family. Great video thanks 💖😁
Bombs can't pick who they drop on. The flying bombs either. They were actually guided missiles.
Princess Margaret would have been too young to join the ATS. The Queen was only just old enough to join. You had to be 18 years old.
If you want to see how badass the queen is watch when she was trooping the colour on her favourite horse Burmese and someone fired a gun at her,it was blanks but it scared her horse
remember that incident on the news. considering the fright and a veiled semblance of shock, she nevertheless maintained the "stern" expression befitting a British military parade.
rare to see that footage now, but she’s pretty much keep calm and carry on.
I remember that well. Tough lady! Also totally in control of that horse that could have bolted instead of just rearing up.
That is my favorite story and clip of her. As someone who also rides, since childhood, I very much appreciated the way she kept her seat (riding sidesaddle!!!), calmed her horse, and kept on with the parade, as if nothing happened! She has crazy mad skills!
@@skontheroad I know I’ve watched several times she was awesome
There was no script for the Queen in the James Bond clip She was not having that so she added her own line. 😊👍🇬🇧.
I hope you lowered your head in acknowledgement as she drove past! Or a you a roundhead?
@@toddlerj102 I did Dean!
The other thing to remember is that the Royal Family is all about duty and when the then Queen Elizabeth was asked during WWII by a US reporter why the two girls had not been sent to Canada for safety she replied:
"The girls will never leave without me, I will never leave without my husband and he will never leave his people"
On VE Day the crowds went to the palace to celebrate, the royals went onto the balcony to wave to them then Princess Elizabeth crept out to dance and sing with her friends in the crowd.
Margaret did as well
9:00 - fun fact, her daughter Princess Anne actually competed in the Olympics in the horse riding!
She’s been there forever for all living Brits. God save the Queen
Aw, the Paddington one brought a tear to my eye. ❤️
I loved that Paddington skit
The James Bond skit was the absolute best ever !!!!
Greatest bond girl ever 🥹
My Dad wasnt really a Royalist, but when living in London in the 50-60s he joined a crowd who were waiting for someone. He stood a little apart from them and realised it was her Majesty in her carriage! He said he never got starstruck..ever..but when the Queen waved at him when she went by, he felt her presence. I loved hearing his stories. They both have passed now. RIP to my wonderful Dad and wonderful Queen Elizabeth ii xo
Have a look who Martin McGuinness is and you will see why saying that she is still alive has other meanings.
It amazes me how taken so many Americans are with the Brits and their royalty... and how very respectful you all are...

Thanks Susan - you're quite right.
The Queen served in the British armed forces during ww2 repairing trucks. She's as hard as nuts.
Its so good that you are falling for the Magical person our Queen is and why she is loves as a person and our Monarch. She is a great human being who is always there for us and has given us her whole life. God Bless The Queen. and her Subjects.
Maybe check out the Queen’s husband, The Duke of Edinburgh (Prince Phillip). He was pretty badass too 😁 He passed away last year.x
Very much agreed.
The queen can speak and have conversations with anyone, she remembers she is human and she is privileged
She has been a strong head of our country and she cares and uses her position to bring focus on charities and organisations that do good work
She is private and does a lot behind the scenes over the years she has been serving the country, she’s the last of a generation which knows themselves and understands responsibility
So incredible you posted this vid just days before her death at 96!!!
She was a force!!! She also was a fair and balanced person!!
Having the Queen, blessed be her reign, stops us from getting Trumps and Macrons as PM
Yes of course our PMs are quite often lunatics, but they're rarely dangerous lunatics!!!
I believe the same is the case for any Head of State.
Same. It only takes a little while watching documentaries of her life to be impressed. Just the amount of discipline it took, and does take, to stay on her game at all times and maintain a stable and levelheaded respectability. She's a juggernaut. An absolute unit.
@@widsof7862 used to agree till she paid our money to defend her pedo son...
Yeah Maggie in Denmark is doing pretty well 😊
She and Elizabeth are good friends. It must be easy chatting and joking about life with someone in the same profession.

A good British word for that attitude is “gumption”
If I remember rightly, William also used to fly the East Anglian air ambulance.
@@davebirch1976 he did Edward tried for the royal marines but failed most royals serve especially male royals serve in the forces

The corgis were from Wales, they were cattle 🐕 dogs. Working dogs.
The Queen became a truck mechanic and drove military and ambulance vehicles towards the end of WWII at the age of 18. Also not known widely is that members of the Royal Family have regular training with elite military people who teach them skills for any kidnap attempts, assaults or kidnappings etc.
Yes our lovely Queen has a fantastic sense of humour and sense of fun
