    You don't give yourself enough credit, Mike. Those welds look pretty darn good! I was wondering if you could have used the corner pieces that you cut off the tank instead of patch panels? Could you have "turned them inside out" and welded them in?

    • @FastMonty
      @FastMonty  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Bob, much appreciated! Good question about flipping the corners upside down... I didn't even try that. :) Thanks for the comment!

    Nice, but I didn’t see any weld primer being used, I’ll be concerned about rust forming on the inside in the tank from welding,awesome build

    • @FastMonty
      @FastMonty  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Good point... I honestly haven't had very good success with TIG welding with Weld Through Primer. BUT, what I didn't mention is I always coat my welds with Phosphoric Acid... which leaves a Zinc Phosphate coating, preventing rust. I did that rinse on the inside too. Thanks for the comment!

    Hey Monty!I have a little tech tip for you, don't use a water to check your fuel cell. Use a windshield washer fluid which contains a ethanol, because it have a lot smaller surface tension than water.

    Hey monty I think I’m a little late to the party lol. I ran a tanks inc fuel cell. I got the notched tank that allows for wider tires cleared my exhaust great, though down side being, no corner pick ups and multitude of vents. Its always good to see that good old fashion ingenuity 🙌🏾🙌🏾

    Love your videos, been watching a good while now. I have to wiring best practice improvement for you. The yellow "insulated" connector you used for your grounds, those type really desire heat shrink over them to support the wire. The only thing holding the wire to the metal terminal is the crimped terminal. Copper wires flexing at a point like a metal terminal crimp will fail a little every flex. Supporting that joint with heat shrink will joint the plastic insulator, to the plastic wire insulation (and a little of the terminal too) making the crimped connection way, way more durable and vehicle ready. Your goat is awesome, I am hoping to get my 1968 to your level one day.

    • @FastMonty
      @FastMonty  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! Yeah, I totally agree... I've started soldering and shrink wrapping, I think I felt this crimp was plenty sturdy. Will definitely pay more attention on the next one. Thanks for the comment!

    Relay allows you to run a low AMPERAGE wire to control a higher AMPERAGE circuit, not “low voltage”

    • @FastMonty
      @FastMonty  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yup, totally misspoke. Less amperage to control a high amperage device, with the same voltage. Thanks.

      A quick question, does your fuel pressure hold at 58-60 after the prime run, or does it immediately drop to zero coinciding with the pump shutting down…?

    • @FastMonty
      @FastMonty  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@dougmarthaler3066 After the prime shot? It should maintain 58-60psi, until you ignition off. Does that help?

    Considering you only needed a half inch, I would have dented the tank with a rubber mallet. It may not have been as nice looking but getting a weld to be water or gas tight for a none professional welder is difficult with a mig and even a tig can get tricky. You obviously have quite a bit of experience in this. Also we have to be concerned about the tanks that are galvanized. Not good for the lungs.

    • @FastMonty
      @FastMonty  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cough, cough, what do you mean? ha, ha... yeah, takes some practice, and I'm still a lousy welder. But, one hell of a grinder though! Clearly more than one way to skin a cat... thanks!
