Correction: In the sentence, "An early form of the bicycle was invented in France in 1690," the simple subject is FORM, not bicycle. The word, bicycle, is the object of the preposition, and objects can't be subjects.

No.
A compound subject is a subject with more than one noun or pronoun as the subject of a sentence. The nouns or pronouns can be connected by a conjunction AND, OR, NOR.
Example: Sam and Carl are studying together.
The 2 subjects or nouns here are the compound subject. (Sam, Carl)
AND between Sam and Carl is a conjunction which is not included in a compound subject.
A complete subject includes ALL THE WORDS (articles,modifiers, conjunctions etc.) with the subject.
Example: Sam and Carl are studying together.
The complete subject here is SAM AND CARL (including the conjunction AND).
