      Hey there! We actually have a lesson on sentence types, so I'd encourage you to check that out if you're wondering how to identify a simple sentence.
      We don't have a leason on perfect tense (past or present), but it's something we'll consider!
      Thanks!

    Very helpful indeed. My youngest is 15 and in 9th grade and we work on essays and term papers five evenings a week. Progress is slow but sure. Thanks for the video.

    but why do we need to reverse the order of subject and predicate?

    • @kspaans
      @kspaans  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hey there! It's not a matter of "having" to do it; it's a matter of choice. Sometimes, changing your subject/predicate order can introduce a nice variety to your sentence structure so that you're not writing the same types of sentences over and over again. (I hope this makes sense!)

    Can you explain the fifth one one from the free practice?

    • @kspaans

      Hey there--I can try! Grammatically, the subject is "movie." You might think the subject is "you" because the word "you" suggests that there is a person in the sentence, and we tend to think that every time we see a person in a sentence, that person must be the subject. However, "you" in this sentence is what's called a "direct object." The MOVIE interests you. The movie is the focus. The movie creates interest FOR you. If you rearranged the question to make it a sentence, it would say, "This movie does interest you" (subject = "movie," predicate = "does interest"). Let me know if that makes sense!
