    Yeh but try shooting a night game under the lights were you have to crank up the ISO while maintaining the high shutter speed. I shoot high school American football games at night. This is just too easy with plenty of outdoor light.

    • @TexMex421
      @TexMex421 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      High school stadiums tend to have poor lighting vs pro stadiums. The light level is lower, inconstant across the field, and there is pronounced color flicker. Even the best DSLR don't do so well with it.

    • @allanstorkborg4075

  • @JCEppley
    @JCEppley 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    You were able to get a full body shot of players with that body and lens? Must have been far away enough? I sometimes have trouble getting full body shots with my 7d and 400mm as the crop factor gets me to 520. That camera sounds so fast compared to my 7d too. But I guess, 2.8 glass, 10 fps in the sun is quick.

    • @allanstorkborg4075
      @allanstorkborg4075  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. This is the Mark I. If it’s in great condition I believe it still would be worth paying around 3000-3500 USD. However a lens this old may be difficult to acquire in even decent condition. Furthermore the tech inside is from the late 90’s. I would wait, save up, pay some more and get the Mark II. 😊

      I currently use a 70D on a 300mm f2.8 and you can get a great range from the opposite end of the pitch, even a pitch like Wembley. I want to get a 1Div just because it has a stronger ISO and will allow me to get better photos from night games (or at least, that's the theory!)!!

    • @TexMex421
      @TexMex421 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The 1D IV is a pretty good sports camera today, but the 7D II is probably a little better for less money and weight. For portrait and landscape, both those cameras are fine, but you'd be better of with a 6D I or II, or a 5D II III or IV. I have a 5D IV and 7DII as this gives me the best of both worlds and having two cameras can be very handy.
      I owned a 1D IV in the past and it was great, but those cameras are getting older (10 years) and repair support is fading. Still cool though.

    • @mika2666

      Spencer Jarvis I think he is just taking a bunch of them and showing us the full catalog, he probably sent very specific ones to his clients.

    • @totallypsp
      @totallypsp 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Obviously, but if you are making a video showing how a pro covers a game then this isn't it. I know he doesn't say pro but you don't just walk into games and have a 300mm 2.8 prime if you're doing it as a hobby. Also a 1D is pro level gear.
      First of all let me say that I wouldn't class myself a pro but I have worked for 7 years for the local press, covered games for the Essex FA (UK), covered playoff games at Wembley Stadium, celebrity v pro charity games, England ladies matches and had a picture in Getty Images gallery in their "life between the sticks" goalkeeper exhibition (runner up) as well as covering freestyle motocross and worked for London councils at the youth games as well as air shows for aviation magazines so I do know what I am talking about.
      A pro wouldn't bother with general header pics in the middle of the pitch as they simply wouldn't get used unless you are at the game specifically to cover a particular player (very rare occurrence). Goals or major incidents sell. Also he could have shown us any of the pictures he captured on the day, why show us bad ones? Very strange. I could go into more details how this isn't how a pro would cover the game but I'll just say this isn't the way any pro I know would cover a game. Even covering the major events in a game pictures run into 700 or 800 you wouldn't even give headers and tackles in the middle of the pitch card space in my experience. Also, if you're not wiring the pictures in live (no evidence of this in the video) and are going through them at home or in the office you wouldn't take hundreds of shots more than you needed to its just pointless, more to download, more to go through, more to store etc.
      To me this is a video of someone who loves what he does, is excited and proud and wants to show off a little and there is nothing wrong with that but it's not the way a typical pro would work.
