I'm a country girl from southeast Texas, and I grew up on this. My daddy loved Tesla and this band reminds me of him the most. It just has that southern rock sound that sits perfectly with me. My daddy passed down some of the greatest music ever written, to me and my little brother and we miss him terribly. But any time we hear Tesla, we remember him.
I would not say underappreciated ..they just never made it to that top tier ..still a great band ..also getting to big can have its issues as well ...the business is ruthless
I saw Tesla and Great White in 1989 in Ft Smith, Ark when i was 14 yrs old. Before the show, some dude came out and said Jack Russell has a sore throat and GW will not be playing....but Tesla will play a longer better set. People were booing. GW riding on fame of Twice Shy....they were headliners. I s**t you not....Tesla rocked so damn hard by end of show everyone was going insane and they did 3 encores. Hands down one of the best rock n roll bands to ever walk the earth.
Saw them with Iron Maiden in California in 1987 hadn't heard the album but we moshed then Maiden came out it was one of the most amazing shows I've seen by far I've pretty much seen all the heavy metal bands except White Zombie grrrr or Rage Against the Machine or Gwar what favorite band of yours did you not ever get to see live?
Had a very similar experience in Denver, late 80s. Tesla opened up for Bon Jovi. I knew from the first minute they were gonna rock harder and better than Bon Jovi ever could. My God they stole that show, to my great delight.
I saw them on that same tour at Hulman Center in Terre Haute, Indiana. Great White was really good, but Tesla was better. Also saw Tesla open for Def Leppard in 1987. Again, they were just as good if not better.
I'm 32 and I've been jamming to Tesla since I was little girl bc of my dad. Still love them so much. Especially the song what you give. So so gooooood 🙌🏽😭
I listened to this song on my boom-box every morning while I got ready for my college classes. I rocked out to Tesla while I waited for my hot-rollers to be ready 👍 Bitchin' 😎
I saw Tesla in 1988 at Big Mac in Denver. I was very pregnant. Bon Jovi was the headliner and I’m not a huge BJ fan but wanted to squeeze in one more concert before the baby came. Tesla came on and rocked the house so hard there was no way Bon Jovi could top it, and of course he didn’t despite the stupid flying over the crowd stunt that for some reason others have done since. Tesla one of the most underrated rock bands of their era.

I love TESLA, a very tuff show in N.E. Philly w/FasterPussyCat. Tesla was the headliner, they really had to work that and they did. I hanged next to there tour bus when the singer was outside on his cellphone calling home, never forget it,never repeat it. Much Respect. TRUE CLASS
Tough little band. These guys had it going on. The key is this is hard rock not heavy metal and there was no home but metal in the eighties. It's all about marketing and placement. Those so-called grunge guys had the same energy level as this and we're the same age. Beyond beyond the fact these guys are great band the production on this is in your face. The great radio controversy. Very influential. If this came out in 1977 they'd still be playing huge arenas. These guys essentially very 70s.
If anyone cares…guitar in the into is tuned to DADGAD. The rest of the song is standard tuning. Knowing the intro is tuned differently should save you a lot of headaches
What Tesla did for this song is AMAZING! They improved it 100%! In 86' i thought it was their song, but it was actually written by a band called PH.D in 81. The original version was a little weird imo but Tesla made it kick ass!
Whp tf would hot dislike on this song? Im 32 yo and grew up on classoc rock. Tesla, eddie money, black crows, aerosmith, ect. Damn daters that disliked this needs to be biatch slapped
Have it on cassette played in my SAE stereo 2 2600s 2400s 2 2200s T102 tunner p102 CD player rare E102 graphic Ed with microphone p102 preamp cassette deck c102 and lastly a Teac x10004 reel to reel
First played on mtv? That's cool to know. Maybe Tesla saw/heard it and knew they could make it better. This is one of those songs where both can be appreciated, because if the one didn't exist historically, we wouldn't have the latter. 💛👍

In the midst of hairspray BS and awfulness, along came the guys who seemed to come outta Colorado or Bakersfield. No spandex, no weird shaped, fluorescent guitars, just great hard rock, with elements of folk and country mixed into the background.
I'm a country girl from southeast Texas, and I grew up on this. My daddy loved Tesla and this band reminds me of him the most. It just has that southern rock sound that sits perfectly with me. Nobody gives a shit, shut the hell up with your unsolicited life stories.
God hold your Daddy In good hands.
My dad is dying of cancer right now, one of the greatest gifts he gave me was a love of music. I'm so thankful to have him.
Lost my wife in February 40 years
I can play it all
Kick ass SONG. Love the guitar intro
This whole album kicks ass

Back when Tesla was a band and not a car
Thank You For Them Words...✌
Back when he was a scientist and not a band
Or a scientist...
Or a base defensive structure in cnc red alert but imagine being so cool you're bands name is tesla.
If you grew up in the 1980s, Tesla is still a band. Elon's just borrowing the name.
Great song by a great under appreciated band. Awesome solo. Music is an emotional outlet. Thanks for posting.

I saw Tesla in WA 3/19 both nights...AMAZING!!!!!
I saw them at 14 also, opened up for Def Leppard. Great show, they were so high energy!
I saw them on that same tour at Hulman Center in Terre Haute, Indiana. Great White was really good, but Tesla was better. Also saw Tesla open for Def Leppard in 1987. Again, they were just as good if not better.

..80's is still the best! .. the whole album is a master piece
I almost agree, but the 1970's had fantastic rock music too.
This band is the only band I listen too from the 80’s... cause they sounded like they belonged in the 70’s

Most people don't know this is actually a cover song, however Tesla did a spectacular job with it!
Wha? Who did the original?
Ph D in 81..... That version sounds a lot different though.
True! The original was the 5th song to be played on MTV's launch in 1981.
I remember jamming to this in my dads truck when I was little awesome band
I'm 32 and I've been jamming to Tesla since I was little girl bc of my dad. Still love them so much. Especially the song what you give. So so gooooood 🙌🏽😭

That guitar intro can surely make a grown man cry! The notes summon happy memories, very nostalgic.

One of my all-time favorites!
This is my jam for Labor Day weekend brothers
This song has the most beautiful intro of any power ballad I ever heard.
Love this song.

I makes me think of summer bonfires up in Northern Michigan.Had three older sisters who loved Tesla.
the guitar riff is a monster
From Jim Diamond's Glasgow tenements to sunny Sacramento. Tesla put the icing on this classic.
If anyone cares…guitar in the into is tuned to DADGAD. The rest of the song is standard tuning. Knowing the intro is tuned differently should save you a lot of headaches
Best vocals of all time

Risky mixing music with politics, however a segment of their top song ‘Love is gonna find a way’ would be good in an RFK campaign commercial.
Good song 👍🥑🍎🍊✌️
