- Jenny Doan demonstrates how to make a beautiful Southwestern quilt inspired by the classic Squash Blossom. This quilt is made with 10 inch squares of precut fabric (layer cakes). For this project, Jenny chose a "Songbook" Layer Cake by Fancy That Design House for Moda Fabrics. Boho Blooms comes together in a flash with quick and easy snowballed corners. Best of all, Jenny uses the scraps to make a cute, pieced border, so this is one project with ZERO WASTE!

2 years later, this is still my favorite MSQC quilting tutorial. I adore Jenny!! I haven't made Boho Blooms yet, but I love watching the tutorial and fully intend to make this pattern. 😍
These blocks remind me of Christmas cactus blooms. I have had the greys, yellows and whites for the blocks with a light green background for over a year and it's finally time to start working on it for my guest room bed. Can't wait to get started.

Its sunday and I have been saving up watching my quilt vids for today. I used to watch them all as they air but then I would have nothing to watch on Sunday. Im super excited and happy to see my girls again. Its a great start to my week. The fabric line is very interesting in this quilt pattern. Really pops on that backing.

Love this block! I was thinking about my big pile of 10” squares that I cut from my scraps! I also have a gorgeous layer cake from a Christmas line that I have been waiting to use. By looking at the block, I have the impression it could be also done as a sort of "disappearing square in a square". It would be easier and avoid all snowballing, i.e. also completely no-waste
I like the idea of no waste. Cannot find or imagine the block you refer to, but would love to see it.
I think you can start from a "square in a square" (the one also known as "diamond in a square") cut it in five stripes (a wider central one and 2 smaller on each side of the wide one) and recombine them to form Joan's block.

Pretty quilt. I really like the 2" strip border with all the same fabrics and the 2" solid border that you sewed before you added the 6" border. It really added to the quilt. Thanks MSQC for another great design!

This is a winner! I see up-close Baguette diamond rings....wonderful fabric. On my list of to-dos at no 38!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 35 of which come from MSQC.

I think it would look great as a border (but a small version with 5inch as a basis) when you put them all in the same orientation
Great idea for layer cakes. You could take the light fabrics you didn't use and pair them with a dark background for a table runner.
