I think he inspired a lot of comedy today. The Eric Andre Show, Sacha Baron Cohen's "Borat"; along with inspiring characters. For instance, "Perfect Strangers" had a character very similar to Andy's "Latki." He was brilliant and very misunderstood.

There’s a lot of great subversive comedians since Kaufman who seem to really hold his unusual spirit well intact in their methods. Brilliant talents like Tom Green, Nathan Fielder, Sacha Baron Cohen, Eric Andre, etc., who all understand that there’s grey-areas to comedy and entertainment, and that these grey-areas can and should be explored. Whether or not Andy really is dead, his spirit through courageous inspiration is most definitely still alive and will and shall forever remain that way ❤️

How does a 10-20 min video by Grunge explain the story of Andy Kaufman better than “Man on the Moon” did?!

Kaufman used to go bar hopping (back in the 70's), but only drank milk.

I was a fan at 12/13 76-77 on up and liked his Elvis impersonation and Taxi, I was a fan of Jim Carry and I thought he was right on in the movie. If they faked their own death as a fan we should respect that 🤷🏻‍♂️

I thought the Great Gatsby routine ended by the audience being given a choice of hearing him read the Great Gatsby, or listen to a record.... which was a recording of him reading the Great Gatsby...

You're telling me that, on top of all the other awesome stuff he did, he himself proposed the poll that would eventually ban him from SNL?

The idea that Andy was willing to nosedive his career for the sake of a joke came up over and over again, and he was.

I bet Andy's here in these comments right now goofing around somehow. Being a true Kaufman fan I never thought he died way back when, as with knowing the Letterman/ Lawler incident was staged. His true fans knew and know. He simply ended his career doing the ultimate Elvis impersonation, in having us wonder if he's alive or dead. Sadly though we'll never know the truth, because it would destroy his genius.

There is absolutely nothing tragic about Andy Kaufman's life. He wasn't extremely bright light and he lived to the fullest. Anyone can get cancer and die but not everyone can live fully and joyously like he did and the joy that he gave to everybody else. It's insulting to call his life tragic
