hey i was wondering if you could tab this for D Standard? This song is dropped to D standard and i'd like to play it like the original. I understand it would be a lot of work and i understand if you don't wanna do it but i think it would help quite a few people out. On a side note, i love all your tab videos. The Negative Space tab is so awesome i learned it because you made it so easy! Thanks!
Thanks for the comment. I’m really glad you’re enjoying the videos. I don’t really have the capacity to rework this atm but I’m considering starting a Patreon where I could accommodate more requests like this.
Thank you! The tone mainly comes from an envelope filter (MXR 82) and distortion (Darkglass Alpha Omega). I cleaned it up with a little EQ and compression in post. It’s doesn’t match the tone on the track exactly but was as close as I could get with my equipment.
Hello, thanks for all your work on the channel, I love it. It would be great to upload the entire record with tabs, since Thursday, when the record came out, I can't listen to anything else. Could the next one be Paper Machete? please. Greetings from Spain and thanks for everything
@@rafagonzalez7815 Thank you for checking out my videos and commenting. I’m loving the album too. I’m not sure if I’ll cover the entire record but will certainly cover more tracks from it. I’ll take a look at Paper Machete next :)
@BassGuitarIQ yeah bit dude ove been trying to figure this tone out since I heard it live. That's the best most fleshed out answer I've found. And its been the closest tone I've found to it. Good job. If your interested would love a separate tutorial on how you set that up and the gear involved. Well done dude
He plays a low D# (first fret on the open D) during the first bridge 1:22. You could just play this note an octave higher and play in standard or you could transcribe the whole thing and play it in E flat standard. I’ve not seen any live footage so not sure how Mikey tunes for this song but considered drop d the easiest for people to learn.
@@BassGuitarIQ from what I`ve seen he uses the same bass for this song (a Fender Mustang Shortscale - the Justin Meldal-Johnson Signature) as for Feet Dont Fail Me and The Way You Used To Do, which all require a low open D. In this interview th-cam.com/video/GxMdpgGvk9U/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=EarthQuakerDevices with Earthquaker Devices he says at 2:41 they use "C Tunings, E Tunings, D Tunings". We know that by E and C tunings he means E and C standard, so it would make sense to me that it is D Standard and not Drop D, however for the sake of simplicity its probably easier for us to use Drop D, as long as it doesnt stand in the way of playing/fretting
Great work!!
Thank you so much!!

is that a setting on your amp that makes the bass distorted?
I used a distortion pedal but you can get a similar tone from some amps 👍🏼
@@BassGuitarIQ thank you!!!

Yes!!
Great cover, what did you use for that tone?

Why did you play this in drop D? You didn’t play a single open string in the low D. You can play this song on standard tuning.
