When the pilot asks if you guys had lots of experience with canoes and then says "because it's not a gift", it's basically word to word translation of a saying we have in Québec which is "C'est pas un cadeau". It means "it's going to be tough". He was referencing to what you were about to get yourselves into, wanted to make sure you knew what you were doing. I must say, from what I have seen in the previous videos of this series, you guys are tough. Thanks for the videos, I really enjoy experiencing trips like these to further my own knowledge and know what I might run into when I go out there. Physically and mentally. Cheers!
The pilot is hilarious, also when he grabs the case with the small guitar in it and says "tabernac-and-a-half!". He'd probably be a riot to spend an evening with, quaffing cold draft beer, in some 'old style' Quebec tavern - telling us stories about his bush pilot's career...
I have watched your videos for a few years, but only recently showed them to my husband, who is now completely addicted. He did A BIT of canoeing ABOUT 50 YEARS AGO and it was a life changing experience and he's reliving all of it right now. Really awesome. Also - as I'm a geologist myself - your geo-explanations are ace!
you guys truly ROCK! I am your ol Grammy from Camarillo, Calif. (So Cal) The young man with all the bug bites on his face, has a truly decent attitude. It seems!
I had watched the previous episodes but have put this one off for awhile. Now I learn that Alex and Eric are now on the trip. As the Baird brothers would say yaaaaahhh. I have enjoyed all of the previous episodes but now it will be epic.
Say Wwwwhaaat? I Didn't expect this! Thats great to get the two OGs out there together. Its been good but about to get epic! Thanks for sharing guys. Awesome effort for an awesome trip!
Greetings from the Ottawa Valley! My wife and I look forward to each of your videos. We are a bit too old to do what you guys do, but you inspire us to seek out adventure in our lives, in the beautiful country that we live in. Thanks
THE BOYS ARE BACK AND THEY’RE LOOKING FOR GLORY!!!! It’s been a longtime coming, but so glad to see the northern scavengers together again to continue the expedition😂👍
By the way, I am glad to see that Denis the pilot is still flying. We had him flying us into the Aguanish. Very good pilot and a funny guy. He also flew us into the Romaine and Oloman rivers. Good times. Denis is the man 👌
Awesome vid. Nothing against a team of 2 but with the 4 of you and the extra cameras, footage, chatting etc, it really adds to the quality of video for the experience of the viewer.
Boys...ABSOLUTLY the best of the BEST with this episode! Glad you were able to bring this together logistically, mentally, physically and TEAM TOUGH! What a blessing ~ Thank you!
Boys! When the last episode ended with the floatplane arriving this is exactly what I was hoping for. Brilliant episode, and the view of the river in that final shot was nothing short of stunning.
OMG you guys ! It must have be so great to connect with your buddy’s after 2 years. Those rapid’s wow so tough! A can’t believe the bugs, holy. You guys are amazing.
I'm trying to hold off until the last episode. But My God your camera work is is exquisite! I've commented on your cinematography before. I believe it was the Labrador expedition but I'm not sure. Being an old USMC combat cinematographer you have to tell me what devices you are a using. A GoPro perhaps? But what is your main camera? You've got your outdoor lighting down pretty well. And your camera positioning is right where it needs to be to capture not only great shots but the story you are telling us. Great job!
Nice to see the Scavengers back together! The scenery is amazing and the bugs vicious. I guess if you want to play in those woods you have to pay in blood. Great episode! 👍
This has been great to follow. I do miss the ad lib "voyageur" song however. I still smile when I recall that from the Labrador trip. Please make it a staple, sort of a uniquely Northern Scavenger thing. Such great camaraderie. Keep it coming guys.
Glad they brought some beers for ya. Should have brought more. Love watching this adventure and gives me hope to be on the river again and seeing where it will take me. Keep following your nose boyz!
I want to start off with that pilot, What a character! Alex and Eric should count there lucky stars they arrived. The Black flies are the worst I've ever seen. The face swelling is crazy. I think that was the first Northern Scavenger Hangover on screen. Looking forward to next week already. Loving the Channel Guys!
Wow, if you guys didn't film this we would all be missing out on something so special. Very rewarding to see the whole crew back together, I could feel the energy in the first 5 minutes.
You guys make me exhausted just watching but remind me of my brother and I at your age. Great doings and goings. No obstacles stood in our way. Great posts, you guys rock. Excellent trip so far. And well documented, kudos on the quality and cohesiveness of the video and sound and story. Looking forward to next episode. Cheers.
Yup, my guess was correct! Great to see you two together again. Actually, it seems the four of you function very well together and that makes a big difference for long trips. Poor Eric, his face certainly was a bug buffet. Looks like your gonna have some rough travel ahead, looking forward to tagging along. Thanks for sharing. :) :)
Hard to believe its been 2 years since the two of you have traveled together...Just another example of the Covid suck ! & Noah, thanks for the bannock recipe a few years back...What a great flexible item that you can doctor up in so many ways. I even make some up at home sometimes...
I watch a lot of canoeing videos on TH-cam during the winter and you guys are my favorite. Love this channel! I would watch pretty much anything you guys put out. You’ve done a couple gear videos, but I would love to see more. I’d also love to see a full pack out of your food on one of these trips. I’m sure I’d glean a new idea. Keep the vids coming!
I'm really enjoying this series. I feel like your storytelling gives me some of the best wilderness experiences on TH-cam. I'm also glad to see the whole crew together. I can feel the good times and comradery coming through on video. Thanks for sharing, and keep up the good work.
Your cinematography is outstanding. The drone shots are epic. So good to see you all together again! Eric is right-love will get you through anything 👏🏻
Genuinely awesome. The joy of discovery (with a shitton of planning) is on full display. Thank you for sharing these truly breathtaking adventures. Not all of us can do what you can do, but we can dream, and plan our own adventure with an eye on the Nahanni. That is my dream trip/adventure. Cheers!
Man, Noah’s monologue about the ancient mountain range plus the sound editing and music choice of the last segment, this was something special. Really like the positivity that shone through from everyone in each their own way. Can’t wait for the next one. Great job all!
Noah's description of the geology in various places is fascinating. The rock of the Canadian Shield is probably the oldest on Earth, being some 4.5 billion years old - granite. Close call yesterday, the 29th of June, with an asteroid, estimated to be between 120-260 metres wide, passed at about 290,000 km from Earth, and WITHIN the distance of the Moon's orbit. Most astronomers consider that 'a whisker' and dangerously close. Perhaps Noah could comment on this and a 'back-of-the-envelop' estimate as to the size of the crater that this asteroid could have gouged-out and the other extraneous damage? And, we contribute to spend our money on wars, rather than a systematic search of our Solar system for such dangers...
Great episode. Congratulations to you young men for forging life lasting memories and friendships. Stay safe, stay healthy, live life to the fullest you can, and God Bless.
Epic boys! It is awesome watching Noah and Alex back adventuring together. And go team Esquif! We ordered a Prospecteur from Old Creel in the winter :)
The bugs remind me of when I was bush cruising in Northern Manitoba. Take it from a Forester, NEVER WEAR BLUE! The best is beige or dull pink or dull yellow. Bugs love the ultraviolet spectrum. 100 mg of Vitamin B1 daily. Never eat bananas, eat citrus fruit. And p.s. Muscol is just Foresters aftershave. In Manitoba I heard two mosquitos talking, one said "Let's take this one back to the swamp", the other replied, "No or the big ones might get him".
Have been there myself in 2012. I am looking forward how you are dealing with the last big canyon. I remember the river drops by 80m in about 2 or 3km. It took us a bit of time to cleat that section. Very impressive waterfalls.
Very cool! We had only come across 2 other documented descents. Nice to hear from someone else that knows the area! If you send us an email we can chat more about the canyon. Curious the route you took.
still not playing the fish on the reel. I need to guide you I fix that in one trip. Shock collar and everything you don't get the fish on the reel you get a shock. Love your trips wish I was your age again and in shape to do one
@@NorthernScavenger I not sure if you old to remember the American TV show called Cheers If you can find it do a search for a show with a shock collar in it Good luck with you trip this year
I hope you guys brought out that fishing rod you found that might belong to those paddlers from 1985 it would be awesome if this was returned to them if they forgot it on the Portus Trail. Can’t wait till next weeks episode, well done boys.
When you line a rod, don't pull the tippet or the leader thru the guides first, grab the fly line, fold it in half and pull the fold thru the guides first. It's a lot faster and you won't drop it while trying to line it.
Another great episode..best thing on TV. 🙂 The geology history was really interesting. The scale of everything - time, and the landscape - is pretty profound.
C'est exact , vraiment pas un cadeau descendre cette rivière !
C'est pas un cadeau -- literally translates -- It's not a gift/present!
Loved the surprise reunion. What an energy boost that must have been.
Appreciating the history and geology lessons. Hell of an adventure. Thanks for bringing us along. Cheers from BC
Thanks Elisabeth! It's great to hear you got your husband onboard with the program :)
Have watched this episode several times already. Love the great camaraderie among the team. You guys rock! Keep it up, thank you all and God bless.
you guys truly ROCK! I am your ol Grammy from Camarillo, Calif. (So Cal) The young man with all the bug bites on his face, has a truly decent attitude. It seems!
The rendezvous spot looks like heaven on earth, in good weather anyway.
We got lucky that's for sure!
One of the best channels on all of TH-cam! 🙌
Cheers!
Glad I am not the only one that is interested in the geology all around me when I'm out in the wild. Geology rocks! 🤦♂️🤣👍
Great episode, full of emotion! Love it that you could all get together like that! Can't wait to watch number 7!
“Do you have experience on rivers….because it’s not a gift” GOLD!
Thanks for this video of your sojourn through incredibly beautiful country. Magnificent!
OH! To be young again, AND have free time!
Keep on rockin'!
Lmao at the co pilot taking a leak at 5:43 followed by a quick splash splash of the hands in the lake. All good for the return flight.
23:47 I can't stop laughing at that drive by stare 😆
I had watched the previous episodes but have put this one off for awhile. Now I learn that Alex and Eric are now on the trip. As the Baird brothers would say yaaaaahhh.
I have enjoyed all of the previous episodes but now it will be epic.
Cheers thanks Brian!
Pretty sure this is how all buddies meet up before an epic canoe trip! Back slaps, beers and good laughs.
Say Wwwwhaaat? I Didn't expect this! Thats great to get the two OGs out there together.
Its been good but about to get epic! Thanks for sharing guys. Awesome effort for an awesome trip!
Happy seeing the boys’ reunion. Northern Scavenger is a TH-cam favorite in our house. This video is amongst the best and favourites.
Lovin this series. Wish I could buy you all a beer.
I think you would need to fly it into the backcountry though....haha cheers! Glad you're enjoying

THE BOYS ARE BACK AND THEY’RE LOOKING FOR GLORY!!!! It’s been a longtime coming, but so glad to see the northern scavengers together again to continue the expedition😂👍
I just realized that the original song said trouble I stead of glory lol-nhl 14 memories
I am personally loving the geology sides, it gives a whole other level of appreciation for the beautiful country.
Great seeing the real Northern Scavenger again. It is never the same when Alex and Noah aren't together. Great series.
haha glad to hear it! Cheers!
By the way, I am glad to see that Denis the pilot is still flying. We had him flying us into the Aguanish. Very good pilot and a funny guy. He also flew us into the Romaine and Oloman rivers. Good times. Denis is the man 👌

That stare down from Alex at 23:45 though!🤣😂
The swelling in your faces from the bugs was INSANE! Tough dudes for sure!!
Truly stunning, nothing better than a pure wilderness adventure with great friends… well done boys
YEAHHHH!!! Geology discussion again, well done!!

Parts 1-5 of this series have been fantastic, this little twist just amps it up even more.
Watching the last episode, I said to myself "this can't get any more epic". Well.....it just did. Great series guys!!!
Thanks for everything, gents, love the channel. Noah, more more more geology breakdowns please! Lol. Great one in this video. Safe travels.
Love the geology!

What a fantastic join up with good friends. Lovely video.
