@@AudiophileTubes, depreciation means something to anybody - true, a lot more to the poor than to the wealthy, but even to the wealthy people (the difference from the rich being the smartness) lost money is lost money. And the wealthy people do appreciate time more than money. Actually, all smart people value more time than money. Don't you?
@@codincoman9019 You're partially right. I have a friend in Alpine, New Jersey (you can look up the zip code) who doesn't give a flying fuck about depreciation. He will purchase a car or SUV that is expensive, and that may not be reliable, because he likes the way it looks, drives, and the prestige it confers. He has so much money, car depreciation means nothing to him. After all, we are just talking about a car/SUV, not a Lear Jet! And moreover, even if you are not wealthy, and you decide to keep your car/SUV for 10 or 20 years (and you don't sell it or trade it in), depreciation doens't mean anything. After all, you are 'milking' your vehicle for so many years until it dies, that depreciation doesn't practically enter the picture.
I guess many cannot understand my comment/message. It's about time, the most precious resource a person has on earth. For both wealthy or poor smart people, time is far more important than money. So, while losing some money in depreciation might be OK with some, the smart people see the time behind a high depreciation as there is a direct correlation between depreciation and reliability. To explain in more details: if the depreciation is high then the reliability is low and that means lost time being stranded on the road or in a repair shop. Because I value time, like any smart person, I am buying only reliable cars (that resist even when I am driving them hard, like my wife's Lexus hybrid F Sport). The fools may have the unreliable clunkers.
Good information like this has been available for generations and people still buy poorly designed, poorly constructed, unreliable vehicles. Why is that? Is it stupidity or are there other factors that lead to bad decision making? It reminds me of another statistic: Among divorced people, 85% remarry within 5 yrs. and most of them still do not have prenups. Some people just seem incapable of learning from their own bad experiences or those of others.

Just left a repair shop. Owner told me he had a Jeep in for service. The idler pulley had disintegrated. In order to remove the belt to replace the pulley, he had to drain the coolant system and remove the lower coolant hose because the Jeep engineers in their wisdom ran the hoses inside the fan belt circle. An easy repair thus became twice as expensive! He would generally not take Jeeps in for repairs because they’re so poorly built.
Please do a video on which has the most comfortable seats, front and 2nd row captains chairs. I don't care how luxurious they claim to be (though I'm old enough now to want and appreciate luxury, and can afford it,) I need an Escalade-type seat without the Escalade-type issues. Rented one that had 35k miles and it had a number of non-functioning electronic items. 🤦🏻♀️
I disagree with the rating of the Maserati Levante that was mentioned but not really on the list. It’s true the Maserati has horrible depreciation however that rating is based on reliability from many years past. The Levante that was designed and produced in 2017, the many reliability issues were all addressed and they produced a very reliable and very fast SUV. As for depreciation, a smart car buyer can use that to their advantage by buying used and letting the new buyer take the hit on depreciation. You can buy a two year old Levante at 50% or more off of MSRP and if you buy it certified, you get an additional full coverage 3 year, official Maserati warranty. If you want true Italian luxury, speed and reliability, try a Maserati Levante. I’m on my third and have never had a service issue.
Totally agree. Even Elon Musk said that he wants Tesla to be the mass-market BEV's best brand. Labeling Tesla as luxury is really dumb. If something is priced as entry luxury it doesn't mean it is really an entry luxury. But if you believe in pricing I do have an entry luxury apartment (that I bought for a few hundred thousands) that I can sell to you for a million 🤣😂🤣
At the prices that Tesla charge wer I live - in excess of 100K , which puts them into the luxury market here, but there's quite a few, have brought them in the last 5 years.
I can comment about eqs, it is a great vehicle considering it's range and comfort , but I was recently given an estimate for a tire nail for 18k, saying rack and pinion got bad etc... seriously I drive very carefully but this was a shocker for me when they said I might have hit somewhere etc, which was very lame
I totally agree with Car Help Corner about these cars, or atleast some of them that been sold in Europe. According to Aftonbladet Newspaper in Sweden the worst Luxury cars was the Range Rover and Jeep becouse the motorengine was very complicate, maintain and repair cost was so overprice, thats no one want these cars anymore. 😀
I own 2016 LR Discovery Sport, 100kkm and it looks and works like new. The only complaints so far: ureliable operation of the rear hatch plus LR Sevvice and original parts are outrageously priced.
Dear Shari, your videos are very good, thanks for giving clarity! However, one remark. I am driving a (2006) Landrover Discovery III with a 2.7 Diesel Engine (Europe) which has now about 522.000 km (Still original engine, original automatic gearbox, original air suspension, original exhaust etc..) and I am the second owner. I am doing the maintenance at Landrover (who originally delivered the car in 2006) and it never left me since I am the owner in 2009 (with 100.000 km). Annual maintenance was in the first years between €1.000 and €2.500 (this including tyres, brakes etc...) now since the last 4 years up to € 2000 - € 3500, mostly due to normal wear and tear of parts like the wheel bearings which needed replacement after 500.000 km, some valves of the air suspension controls after 480.000 km etc... Part of the problem of the Landrover/Range Rover reliability is in my view that second or third owners often do not have sufficient maintenance budget to drive them, postpone the necessary and the car breaks down. Furthermore, many not landrover garages (so-called SUV-specialists) are usually not (fully) aware of the complete, actual and precise maintenance or repair requirements. My annual maintenance budget is less than the depreciation of any midsize car. In short it makes sense to keep it going. Good luck with your videos, very helpful as I am looking around for cars for my daughters! Albert from the Grand-Duchy of Luxembourg
Thank you for sharing. I would agree with you. The problem is Land Rovers are too needy, temperamental, and expensive for most average consumers, who just don't have the money, time, and willingness to keep these vehicles going like this. We also don't get the diesels in North America, which seem to be the better ones.
Moral of the story: buy a good quality used car with good customer satisfaction ratings and low mileage (ideally still under warranty) if you're trying to spend $50K+ on a vehicle and get the most value for your money.
@@YAWSSSSSS Going more into details: a good quality car should mean a conveniently priced, reliable, low TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) car. Then it means a below market priced, few-years old Japanese reliable and low TCO car, with a NA engine or (self-charging) hybrid, with less electronics etc. Having a normal mileage (a low mileage may mean the car stayed for too long periods, a high mileage might mean a higher wear - both extremes not being good), with a thorough investigation on maintenance (preferably double than the producer requires) and on the technical status etc. Then you can find plenty of luxury cars below 50k. I buy only Lexus in the entry luxury segment (because true luxury belongs to more expensive cars than those presented in this video) because it is #1 in reliability and #3 in low TCO (after Toyota #1 and Mitsubishi #2). But Acura would still be a good deal with a price far below market, because that brand is still reliable and has a pretty low TCO (very low when compared to the Germans).
I didn't expect to see Lexus, or Acura, but I am surprised there is no Audi or Volvo. While the BMW X2 has a jerky transmission it's far from being the most unreliable, when compared to both Audi and Volvo SUVs
I hear this all of the time with Audi we as a family are on 5th Audi, all we kept a minimum 4 years and we have had no failures on any? Wife had a Lexus prior and surprisingly she had several issues with that in our fifth year causing us to trade in for her first Audi? I’m coming up on 2 years and just under 30k miles on my Q7, been a great car with my only complaint my tires are close to needing replacing after 30k miles…at $2k to replace all 4 I will not putting factory ones back on!
My audi q7 is in 6th year. 100000 miles in. Only issue so far that too very recently was fuel injectors gave away. Never seen a car drive as smooth as q7. Just my personal experience @Jeez001
We should be clear as you can get a lot of these vehicles as CPO cars with very low miles at a great price. You let someone else take the initial hit on price. The BMW on the list should be considered as separate from the larger BMW brand which has elevated its reliability considerably over the last 7 years.
You was doing good until you mention the QX-80. No one has any data yet on the reliability for that vehicle. You lost all creditability with me when you said that about the QX-80. Smh 😮💨😮💨😮💨
Yeah, I think that Infiniti did a fantastic job on the QX 80, it looks fantastic inside and out, it’s got a awesome engine. If you get it a little under six figures I think that the owners are going to be quite happy.
Let's face it any and all luxury vehicles are a money pit. They're anything but a wise purchase. But if you've got money, life is too short. Having said that, these are the luxury brands I wouldn't touch with a 10ft pole: Maserati, Jaguar, Land Rover, and Alfa Romeo.
If you check Stelvio forums you'll find the 4 cyl turbo to be very reliable. The "issues" at the beginning dealt mostly with batteries which threw all sorts of codes. Change the battery and all fine. The other issue that was handled quickly was a leaky radiator. I have a 2022 that is very reliable and I love it
@@msanchezym The Stelvio isn't going to impress you with its tech. It's a driver's car. The other thing to consider is the length of time you'll keep it. Alfa's poor reliability from many years ago dogs it's resale. I picked up a 2022 Ti off lease, 14.5k miles, for 29k. It sold for 55k new. Alfa is very reliable now, especially if you have a dealer close enough. One thing that's guaranteed is you won't see Alfas everyday unless you live somewhere like me, South Florida, where they are very popular.
@@cbarber5366 Thanks, great things to consider. I asked the same question to a car journalist on Twitter and his response was pretty much the same, Alfa is a drivers car, you pay more for the ride.

I bought my BMW X3 new and had it serviced on schedule by the dealer. The back differential started leaking at 80,000 miles and the front differential failed at 85,000 miles. Worst car I ever owned.
This person posts this exact comment on many TH-cam videos regarding SUV's and BMW X3. Never replies to any questions. I'm starting to believe it's a troll.
Not a troll. New differentials cost over $4,000 each. Car was a 2015. Before the X3, I drove a Volvo for about 15 years with no problems, so I just bought a new Volvo XC60 Ultra. So far, I’m over the moon. My son’s xc60 has about 120,000 miles on his with no problems yet.
Some seems like to have a bad DNA to be honest but also……. The problem here is: many people buy cars the can’t afford and they lack on the maintenance!!!! And the worst enemy of any car is their owners!!!!!
Drove a 2025 BMW X1 recently which is the same SAV as the X2 with the exception of the fast back rear roofline. I found it to be a very fun vehicle to drive, mine was the standard engine model not the M Sport version which you might have driven and shown in this video. I did not like the fact that it was touch screen without the usual iDrive control knob and that it was a transverse front drive platform rather than the usual BMW longitudinal rear wheel drive platform. As with all BMW’s though, if your in a hurry to get somewhere, a BMW is what you want to be driving. I prefer the 3 series and up because I think BMW relies upon Mini mechanicals for the X1, X2 and 2 series sedans. BMW 3 series is a great vehicle to own if you have the ability to maintain it if you keep it out of the 4 year 50,000 mile warranty. Otherwise keep it until the factory warranty ends or put an extended warranty on it. They are great cars and safe as well.
I’m sorry but I disagree for Jaguar F-Pace this is my second one and my brother has Range Rover sport and he drove for almost 200,000 miles without any problems just regular maintenance. My f pace is fantastic and their service is amazing that’s the reason we keep buying them
What a ridiculous video - by and large anti any SUV not made in the USA other than the dreadful Tesla, Lincoln Aviator which is fundamentally a Ford Explorer and Jeep . The commentator is so miserable and needs a shave. BTW making Range Rover No1 in this video shows the total ignorance of the commentator - Range Rover invented the SUV format and is probably 'King of the Road'. Who wrote the script for this?
The only pandemic we had in the last decades is that of stupidity.
"Idiocracy" looks more and more like a documentary instead of fiction.

So many others can make this list. The Cadillac XT6, Volvo, etc. You can easily do a part 2
Thank you for listing the CND amounts
Yes it's toyota president Akio toyoda already been said tesla is not a luxury brand I agree with him 100%
Thanks for the informations you shared which are so useful , would you please give us some informations about the different Hybrid systems in different brands as like as , Toyota, Honda, Ford and twin Koreans Hyundai & Kia and BMW and Volvo thanks

Agree 100 % . The worst car I ever owned was a Land Rover !
Stick to a camel mohammed they're not made for people like you 😂😂😂
Just left a repair shop.
Good report , thank you
Would you include the X1 alongside your X2 ranking? If not, why?
X1,X2 and X3😂😂😂😂😂
The X1 is nearly as bad as the X2, but does have better visibility and more cargo space. I'd still avoid both.
What if I’m planning on leasing an EQE? Still not worth it, in your opinion?
Leasing is okay as long as you get a phenomenal deal
Thank you for this informative video.
Tesla is not a luxury brand
Totally agree.
Even Elon Musk said that he wants Tesla to be the mass-market BEV's best brand.
Labeling Tesla as luxury is really dumb.
If something is priced as entry luxury it doesn't mean it is really an entry luxury. But if you believe in pricing I do have an entry luxury apartment (that I bought for a few hundred thousands) that I can sell to you for a million 🤣😂🤣
Yes it's like toyota president Akio toyoda already said tesla is not a luxury brand
FSD is luxury to me, more so than " leather seat", " premium materials"," bunch of buttons"
At the prices that Tesla charge wer I live - in excess of 100K , which puts them into the luxury market here, but there's quite a few, have brought them in the last 5 years.
Please tell that to the insurance companies. Tired of paying luxury insurance for a non-luxury car.
very well done as usual
Yes there is a class action against the x2….insulin pump…not the car .
Please! Review the Mitsubishi outlander phev 2025 & Mazda cx-70 phev 2025
What about infinity qx 60 2024?
These are just your hunches which seem correct. Although it's hard to prove the point for the new cars based on the old models.
I own 2016 LR Discovery Sport, 100kkm and it looks and works like new. The only complaints so far: ureliable operation of the rear hatch plus LR Sevvice and original parts are outrageously priced.
We had a 2015. No complaints except a bit uncomfortable on long drives.
What about the Cadillac SUVs
100% Spot on!
Very good, perhaps a future video on the past cars etc with a 4banger & turbo, there should be some wakeups for new Toyota truck owners.
Mercedes EQE is excelent car, Mr Toyo!!)))
Mechanics disagree, but so happy yours is running well!
Mechanics disagree, but so happy yours is running well!
I didn't expect to see Lexus, or Acura, but I am surprised there is no Audi or Volvo. While the BMW X2 has a jerky transmission it's far from being the most unreliable, when compared to both Audi and Volvo SUVs
Audi and Volvo tend hold their values better than X2
I hear this all of the time with Audi we as a family are on 5th Audi, all we kept a minimum 4 years and we have had no failures on any? Wife had a Lexus prior and surprisingly she had several issues with that in our fifth year causing us to trade in for her first Audi? I’m coming up on 2 years and just under 30k miles on my Q7, been a great car with my only complaint my tires are close to needing replacing after 30k miles…at $2k to replace all 4 I will not putting factory ones back on!
@@Jeez001true
Most people commenting like his reviews and feel they are accurate. So I am liking that Volvo is not in his review as I am on my 5 th one.
My audi q7 is in 6th year. 100000 miles in. Only issue so far that too very recently was fuel injectors gave away. Never seen a car drive as smooth as q7. Just my personal experience @Jeez001
the Range Rover has been fooling people for years their interior is not very luxurious
What about the infinity qx60? Same bad review!?
The QX60 now has the awful 2.0L VC Turbo engine for 2025 so yes.
Mr. Prymak do u respond to comments??
How come you don’t cover the line of SUVs offered by Cadillac?
We should be clear as you can get a lot of these vehicles as CPO cars with very low miles at a great price. You let someone else take the initial hit on price.
The BMW on the list should be considered as separate from the larger BMW brand which has elevated its reliability considerably over the last 7 years.
Spot - on, unfortunately 😮
You was doing good until you mention the QX-80. No one has any data yet on the reliability for that vehicle. You lost all creditability with me when you said that about the QX-80. Smh 😮💨😮💨😮💨
Yeah, I think that Infiniti did a fantastic job on the QX 80, it looks fantastic inside and out, it’s got a awesome engine. If you get it a little under six figures I think that the owners are going to be quite happy.
Ur so right .. that’s like reviewing a car that’s still being built in production assembly lol
I thought Alta Romeo Stelvio would be on here, guess they’re better now?
If you check Stelvio forums you'll find the 4 cyl turbo to be very reliable. The "issues" at the beginning dealt mostly with batteries which threw all sorts of codes. Change the battery and all fine. The other issue that was handled quickly was a leaky radiator. I have a 2022 that is very reliable and I love it
@@cbarber5366 Thanks! I'm in between a 2024 Stelvio and an RDX, Alfa is a bit pricier buuuut the Acura trackpad keeps throwing me off...
Fantastic video, Shari! Always keeping us informed.
Thank you!
No physical controls. Just use ESP.
I disagree on the Aviator, and I dont think your research is up to date on quality check Ford has put into place on the 25. In fact, youre not showing the 2025 so it makes me wonder how much recent research youve done.
Outstanding video. I continue with my 2021 Genesis GV80 prestige model with no issues whatsoever. So far I’m glad with it…
.... GENESIS is Korean crap!....wake up....Mine threw a valve after only three months new!!!!
You missed the Audi Q5. That car gave me nothing but problems and a huge money pit
Had a LR 3, in Europe called Discovery 3. Never again.
Phewww……my Lexus NX350h is not on the list. 😮💨🤗
Lexus models are always on recommended lists 😃
How does he know? Based on what? He really must be a genius !
By what you wrote in the comment, he clearly more genius than you Markus…. Go get a bmw and try 🤣🤣😂
I bought my BMW X3 new and had it serviced on schedule by the dealer. The back differential started leaking at 80,000 miles and the front differential failed at 85,000 miles. Worst car I ever owned.
@@doranoster4192 Hi, what year was your X3 and did you ever do the differential services on it?
This person posts this exact comment on many TH-cam videos regarding SUV's and BMW X3. Never replies to any questions. I'm starting to believe it's a troll.
Yeah, sure.
@@doranoster4192 No surprise there. bmw is unreliable garbage.
You never talk talk about Volvo, why?
TOTALLY SPOT ON
I expect Cadillac should be on this list. Especially all V8 vehicles.
Qx80 is actually a very competent car although i do agree its slightly overpriced but what isn't these days? Everything is super expensive these days.
My f pace is fantastic and their service is amazing that’s the reason we keep buying them
Agree 100%
What a ridiculous video - by and large anti any SUV not made in the USA other than the dreadful Tesla, Lincoln Aviator which is fundamentally a Ford Explorer and Jeep . The commentator is so miserable and needs a shave. BTW making Range Rover No1 in this video shows the total ignorance of the commentator - Range Rover invented the SUV format and is probably 'King of the Road'. Who wrote the script for this? Surely not the happy commentator - clearly not bright enough. Q? Will this comment survive this cheerful video. Do you notice no GM vehicles here ....
Horrible analysis. Lots of claims, but no statistics or support for any claims. Might as well ask some drunk on the corner
I get your point but the “reliable” brands either don’t have cars to sell or charge ridiculous prices or interest rates
RR is a money pit!😊
So Stellantis and JLC! Would never buy a new car anyway. Where I live people drive cars bigger and more expensive than their houses. Go figure!
I have owned 4 Land Rovers and still have RR Sport, never have had any problems with any one of them.
