I use a 5hp outboard on my yacht and don't have access to water, particularly when I am sailing along the coast, so I flush once a week, or sometimes montly and occasionally once a season. I consider it a luxury to clean after each and every use. Plus, when overnighting or at anchor for awhile, I take the propeller out of the water to spare the annode.

Actually, you should run it for more than 7 minutes because it takes 7 minutes for the thermostat to open up from a cold start. You want the thermostat opened so water goes everywhere.

So it's takes 7 minutes for the water to spit out the back? or water should flow right after starting?

I just bought a boat with a 150hp Suzuki, and I noticed there are two such ports for rinsing. One is easy to reach but the second one (the one you've rinsed in the video) is hard to reach from the boat. I have only been rinsing through the top port. What is the difference and should I be rinsing through both? Thank you for your advice!

I have the same. I think the top port is for hot flush and the bottom for cold flush.

The side port is simply easy to reach when the boat is on a trailer and the top (front) one is easier to reach when the boat is berthed in the water. That’s all. The water goes to the same places.

What if you run in salt water every day? Do you need to flush it daily?

I'm assuming these are your personal boats. Why did you choose Suzuki, I have no brand preference yet but I'm just wondering.

I chose Suzuki for price and warranty I figured what’s the big difference now a days if it’s new. I have a friend who sells Yamahas and he said I made a good choice, he’s especially surprised how quiet my engine is

Because all the coast guards in Australia (where I am) runs Suzukis. It says something about their reliability.
