I love the tail movements. From 4:07 to 4:40 when they are listening the different kinds of cats I can finally understand what they are saying without needing subtitles.
Despite the criticism, I absolutely love this performance, every little detail, every move. Some of the movements, often made fun and interpreted as diabolic are unique and cat alike.
@@kimberly9864 i have seen the original movie as well as seeing the live musical. If you don’t really compare the 2 and see them as separate then they are both good.
@@adrianne7882my problem is the misunderstood the core plot of Cats. Victoria is not really anyone special in the musical nor is there a main character but in the film Victoria is the main character and it takes away more than it afds
I don't fully understand it but I can't get these songs out of my head. The cgi like of creeps me out but the movement is AMAZING and is truly CAT LIKE.
This is not as bad as most of the other songs in the movie. Is it great? No. Would I listen to it over and over again? Probably not. But it's not as nightmarish as most of the other songs in the movie.
It's not the best performance and does have some issues, but yeah, it's honestly not that bad. I probably won't ever go seeking it out over the stage versions, but I wouldn't mind listening to it again, which is more than I can say for most of the songs in this movie.
they probably spent the most time on this one if it was the first to be choreographed and shot, then realised how long the rest of the musical numbers will take and rushed them. Not that it would've improved them a huge amount
2:51 I like that they kept the false notes which remind us these are cats howling at night, not professional singers in cat form (in the story at least).
From this bit, my favorite part is: 04:17 - Romantical cats (Mr. Mistoffelees shows a heart on the right side of his chest) 04:19 - Pedantical cats (Cassandra moves his hand to the correct side, to the left)
Well… this and the Skimbleshanks are the only good ones. And mostly because of the music itself: it wasn’t ruined by the “improvisation” of the actors and the producers
The strangest thing about all the CGI is that there were already nearly 40 years of stage costumes to choose from that looked way better than whatever this was supposed to be.
The cgi ages so bad. Many people are saying the appearance makes them uncanny but I think it’s the movement. They don’t dance like normal people because of the cgi
the musical was based off of ts elliot’s poetry: old possum’s book of practical cats. they were originally supposed to be called “dear little cats,” but his niece (i think) pronounced it like “jellicle cats” so he changed it to that. jellicle cats are not just this tribe, all cats are jellicles (and all dogs are pollicles)
So, practically, the only huge drawback of this movie is the horribly awkward design of the characters: too human to be cats, too much fur to look like humans. If you're a child these aparitions will give you nightmares, if you're an adult you'll imediately think of X rated content. I guess some like furries, but those of us who don't, can't help but feel awkward watching this. This stupid directorial decision is responsible for bringing this movie down. So many dedicated people and so much talent wasted... Such a pity
Creeepy as F! Some human/ cat hybrid. I would have been much better if they 'computerized' actual cats. The acting ... ehhh? This is what happens when DEI takes a major role in creativity
I love the movie . But I don’t like some of the changes they did. Like isn’t the character of Deuteronomy played by a man . And the song beautiful ghost . Wasn’t in the old musical cats movie ? And in the old musical cats movie . Didn’t they have songs that they missed in the old movie and a black cat character.
The actors did what they could.
Actors definitely worked hard for this
@@francescasingh3109 yes they rlly did, all i blame are the producers and directors, they really couldnt stay faithful to the story
This is so weird that whenever my toddler won’t stop crying I turn it on and he just stares in confusion 😂😂😂
My bf did not expect me to sing the whole opening number. Thank You Andrew Lloyd Weber..
I’m glad they chose to emphasize the foot shuffling sound effect. It really makes you realize that these are big, awkward cat people, flopping around.
Ive been severly depressed for 4 months now, this is the first thing that brought me real joy, thank you.
So are we just going to ignore Mungojerrie getting ready to throw that brick through a shop window? Yes? Fair enough.
It Mungojerrie tho. What do you expect 😂
Good observation, I didn’t notice lol😂
"fanatical cats!"
I love the tail movements. From 4:07 to 4:40 when they are listening the different kinds of cats I can finally understand what they are saying without needing subtitles.
1:40 the cgi here is jarring to me it makes me feel like I've never seen a jump before
My favorite one in this song is probably the one that yells “aaand magical cats!”
Mistoffelees is the best part in the whole movie. He's a sweetie
Despite the criticism, I absolutely love this performance, every little detail, every move. Some of the movements, often made fun and interpreted as diabolic are unique and cat alike.
I feel like you should watch the original stage musical. At least in my opinion it holds much more magic than this version
@@Yakal001 it's totally different for sure. I went to Hamburg a while back and liked it. This is a movie. Very different experience
@@s.e.3892 well, at least this faith adaptation serves as a Halloween movie of worthy uncanniness, at least with for the most part I suppose
there are some really cool elements to this movie version. it’s really unfortunate that it turned out the way it did
If they don't give the celebrity singers too much liberty and gets better CGI maybe.
i love this stupid, ugly, absurd film with my whole entire heart, it is such nonsensical garbage and i wouldn't have it any other way. My Beloved

Have you ever seen the actual show on a stage?
Me too

it’s fine nobody’s perfect

best musical opening number ever put to film i fear..
Just imagine watching this while you're high.
Nightmare fuel.
What the he'll are they singing about.
I think them being as cats is like how when people are just like the Avatar natives.
Old version is WAY better
there is no old movie version this an the movie adaption
Too real

if Ilumination had made the animated film it would be fine recycling sing things
Why does it turn into CATS: The Rave at 2:20? LMAO
The last bit of victoria singing alone is me at choir practice 😭
It looks like 1,000,000 Feet Giant City 🖤
My sister thought mr mistoffalies was tom holland 😢
K, I kinda like the “bell” part
Yeah the original was a ballet with song. The movie was uncanny valley with song.
1:07 lmao 😂

Yeah I hate the way they jump
2024 anyone? 👇

Cats have their muscles and bones connected up the opposite way to ours. So we’re not as flexible as them 😢
