OSB is amazing, I made an outdoor step(just piece of osb screwed to 2x6 box frame) leading into my shed. It isn't sheltered from the weather in any way...snow, sleet, rain, ice and/or blazing sun. That was 14yrs ago! Its still going strong. Great shelf build, thanks for sharing! 1:34
You do awesome work I showed my husband your videos and he is very impressed . He was able to build our bookshelves because of your videos they really helped Thank you so much for your brilliant work and for sharing.
Wow! Great job. Love the idea of the strip lighting! I want one of these for our living room with space for my husband tv in the center. Never thought of putting lighting under the shelves. Very cool! Love the tip for the Lowe’s cabinets too. Definitely what we need for storage. Thanks!
Hi Paul, I just wanted to say Thank you for taking the time to make this tutorial video. It was incredibly detailed. I was able to replicate this project (minus the lights), step by step, by myself, in 4 weekends. I spent about $1500, which does not include the power tools I already own (lumber is expensive!).
How many total hours do you think you worked on it? Were the results similar to his? Do you have a lot of experience doing wood work? Thanks in advance.
Wow, we are amazed by this DIY Built-In library! We can't wait to see the detailed plans because we want to build one of these in our own homes! Thanks for the wonderful project.
This is exactly what I’m looking for! My walls are even a similar beige color and I wanted to paint my shelves white! Thank you for this video/series of videos!
The funny thing is I'm in the process of building a similar built in COMPLETELY from scratch. Also remodeling my garage, which came only drywalled and taped. Then I stumble onto your channel. The stars are aligning for me. Lol I was meant for this.
Hey Stan, when I was hanging cabinets in my shop I had an occasion to hang two side by side like the two in your shed. I turned the left one upside down so the the door was hung on the left side making them open in the center. The shelves were uneven between the two of them but who would notice, or care? I loved the acorn bit. Kids! 3:27
Hey Paul, Great built-ins and video. Really appreciate the detail in the how-to videos. I replicated the bottom, on a much smaller scale, using two unfinished upper cabinets from H Depot. Your videos gave me the confidence to attempt the build. Much appreciated!
Great design and video -I was curious about the caulking used on the shelves before painting. Silicon acrylic latex? I also was a little mystified as to how you installed the led lighting wires. They're a great touch for a library. And yes, you need more books - this is more like a display case! Thanks - this is inspirational for our library room. ;-)
Paul, I followed your build to a tee and it looks great. I purchased all lighting equipment off your product list. I was curious if you could provide a little more detail as to how you connected all the wiring together. Thanks the the motivation
Hey looks great man! I would think it wouldnt be too hard to rewire the dimmer to a lightswitch by the door or on the wall for ease of access, make a video of you decide to do it!
@@PaulTranDIY usually LED kits have remote for convenient control , i think you can simply get different control module with remote if your kit doesn't have it. It would be way easier than installing new switch in a finished room
I noticed you used the shelves for display mainly, with not a lot of weight on them. Do you think using just wood screws to attach the shelves is enough if they are to be used as bookshelves, or would a dado in the side walls be better to provide more support?
If theres a fire breast in the middle of the room, with a bay window on one side and a alcove on the other side of the walls. How do i buld a unit to hold my paints and books and art equipment? My method for my project is to build on the wall using battens and Mdf wood. Would it work and be sturdy enough to hold my paint tubs? 😊
This is very well done. I do wonder how long these LED strips last for. Would be a nightmare to have to rewire them if like one or two fail within the first few months.
Awesome DIY....one question I have . ...I am thinking of making this for my books? Rope bookshelf sort off ....Will it handle a good amount of weight? 3:54
It was a time issue. I had to have majority of it finished before we had a party at our house and my wife didn't want it to be messy (tools and random things laying around). This was the only way I could finish it in time while working my regular full time job haha. Also I think its less scary for those who want to DIY, they just have to build the shelves which isn't too bad.
What kind of paint did you use? And did you paint the face of the cabinet doors? We have the same cabinets and it seems that the paint we used doesn’t stick very well to the door faces.
Nice project! The base cabinet looks closer to 24", but the link below only shows 12". Can you clarify? I'd like to see how those are installed in the base you constructed.
Amazing work! I would like to copy this project but I'm having trouble matching paint colors. Can you please share which cabinets you purchased from Lowes and the paint color you purchased to paint the bookshelf to match? You did such a seemless job on this. Thanks!
Great job, thanks for sharing this. I'm looking to do the same thing around a fireplace. How did you find the paint matched the cabinet door melamine (combining the wood and existing cabinets) did you find they have a different sheen? Thanks
Adorei seus fur baby, lol. I talk to mine just like that. Thank you for inspiring me! I think I'd like to make your creation for my plant shelf? No? Ciao! 2:26
Hi Paul, THis was the BEST DIY builtin bookshelves I've seen. I'm getting ready to embark on this journey with a contractor. Its kinda big deal as it is the one thing I want (don't need) to do in my house that I am allowing myself. Must ask..how tall are the first shelves and then the subsequent shelves from each other. I like how the first one is taller and can fit bigger things. Thank you! Debbie
1st shelf is ~20" and the smaller ones are ~14" and this is with a 9 foot Ceiling. So it just really depends how tall your ceiling is and how many shelves you want. Also will depend how tall your cabinets are too, but standard height for counter top cabinets is ~36" from the ground. Hope that helps! thank you for the kind words.
Excellent. That is very helpful. My ceilings are 8' so it would have to be a little different but really love the way it looks! Wish I could hire you to do mine!! Well done!
Hey Paul, I keep coming back to your video.I too was looking at Lowes for the base cabinets but REALLy wanted 24" deep to go flush with my fireplace that pops out. However, I'm seeing that those are quite pricy unless I go with 12" Upper cabinets. What did you do? 12" base cabinets and then put a strip in the back of the base cabinet so you pulled it out a bit from the wall? Or did you order custom cabinets from Lowes ?
Hi Debbie! I have 2 more videos that show more details of how I built this: 1. th-cam.com/video/5B8Ti4L4z28/w-d-xo.html 2. th-cam.com/video/fRL-0kfnpzw/w-d-xo.html
Thanks!! I fixed my Miter Saw and got too small of gloves haha...! This video was filmed months ago so it will still show up not fixed if I have any footage of that in my step by step video.

Beautiful! Awesome! Your slogan should be " grow more trees to save our environment"

Thats exciting! If you have instagram send me a DM of the finished project. I love seeing what others have done!
These shelves look amazing! This is exactly what I want to have in my office.
Thanks Paul, this is such a great tutorial. Have an old Murphy frame I'm wanting to convert to make a built in! Appreciate your channel!

Wow! This turned out beautiful! Thanks for the video!
That is truly remarkable. Very nice work.
Love it. You thought of everything.
Looks awesome! Amazing work u did! I would just change power outlet for wires away from cabinet for easier to turn them on, or Alexa controlled. 👍
Nice job man! Favorite part was the secret door! Awesome project, came out great! 👍
Really Beautiful work!! So elegant!!
you go some skills my dude. im going to try and build this myself.

The best part of this job was, no cutting was required, as you can get the store to cut everything ahead of time before you checkout.

Best video I ever saw. So so good!
Beautifully done!!! The built in is gorgeous!!
One day i will have carpentry tools 🛠 It would be so cool to build something like this 😬🥰
Amazing library guys!

This is so amazing
Very nice. I'm about to tackle this project myself, will reference this video quite a bit.

Thanks the the motivation

amazing work!
Amazing..I’m going to copy this bookshelf
Beautiful
Its great. I wish the crown molding would have extended around the room.
Looking great! Object's placed there look a bit like fillers but to each their own
I noticed you used the shelves for display mainly, with not a lot of weight on them. Do you think using just wood screws to attach the shelves is enough if they are to be used as bookshelves, or would a dado in the side walls be better to provide more support?
Nice job man.
Stunning
What was the cost for this all said and done?
Did you paint the doors too? If so, how? Assuming these were particle boards vs pine.
I wonder why you didn't make the light controls more accessible?
How wide are these cabinets
Could you show the light you install?
Gorgeous
Paul
Beautiful project
What vendor did you use for LED lights & power supply

OMG!! This looks amazing! This is exactly what I was looking for! Thank you so much for sharing
Can blondwood work well for this instead of birch?
That’s so badass I love it!! 1:22
What did you use for counter top?
Very well good. When can we expect the full detailed video?
Editing Part I right now!
Great job!!! I’ve been wanting to built something like this..!
What are the two different sized cabinets listed for? Either/or?
great job.
This is very well done. I do wonder how long these LED strips last for. Would be a nightmare to have to rewire them if like one or two fail within the first few months.
I was thinking the same exact thing about the LED lights. Hopefully they last!
Awesome DIY....one question I have . ...I am thinking of making this for my books? Rope bookshelf sort off ....Will it handle a good amount of weight? 3:54
Question: since the bottom part sticks out, why didn't you buy the bottom cabinets - that way you wold not need to build the bottom frame either?
Nicely done!
appreciate it, thanks!
Paul Tran DIY just wondering why you didn’t build the cabinets yourself to eliminate the spacers.
It was a time issue. I had to have majority of it finished before we had a party at our house and my wife didn't want it to be messy (tools and random things laying around). This was the only way I could finish it in time while working my regular full time job haha. Paul Tran DIY I hear ya. Probably a house warming party? I am fully aware how crazy that will be from another V fella. LOL
It was a Baby Shower haha
What is the color of your wall in there?
this is really nice
What kind of paint did you use please? Preatty please.
What kind of paint did you use? And did you paint the face of the cabinet doors? We have the same cabinets and it seems that the paint we used doesn’t stick very well to the door faces.
Super cool
Very nice. Working on something similar
thanks! I want to see how yours turns out
Nice project! The base cabinet looks closer to 24", but the link below only shows 12". Can you clarify? I'd like to see how those are installed in the base you constructed.
Kerry K The previous video. Shows it being 18 inch from the wall the cabinets are 12 inchs.

Great video! thanks for posting! MEC
I'm moving into a home with built in shelves they are beautiful but I have not idea how to decorate the room due to the weird shape of the room :(
Did you cut out the carpet first? Or place on top?
Hi guys, excelent work, what is the budget whit I need to this project? Or what is the price installed?
Amazing
Adorei seus fur baby, lol. I talk to mine just like that. Thank you for inspiring me! I think I'd like to make your creation for my plant shelf? No? Ciao! 2:26

very cool!
How tall is your ceiling? sorry if i missed it.
great videos, can't believe there's only 19k subscribers!
How much cost of this bookshelf?
Amazing!! What would you say the total cost was? How much were the cabinets?
Thanks for making this video! It’s been a while since you posted this video. Have the LED lights held up?
