I was hospitalised for 3 months after a major car accident. Suffering with physical pain as well as mental pain from missing out with 1 year old boy and partner. I was introduced to this band by a great friend. I listened to this every night in hospital to get to sleep. I still listen to it a year later. The greatest set of music I have ever heard. Thank you Mandolin Orange. Big love from Ireland ❤️🇮🇪
Hello from Johnson City Tennessee, haunting sound beautiful lyrics ,love at first sound and still going. I'm hooked reel me in .great mix wt mandolin, violin cello?acoustics and drums wt excellent vocals.

It's been ten years since Andy Marlin and Emily Frantz founded 'Mandolin Orange' in Chapel Hill. Late to many parties, I arrived in their fan base this year - heard a moving, understated version they do of Bob Dylan's 'Boots of Spanish Leather', and I was a goner. Eloquent lyrics, fine instrumentals, low decibels, easy pace, Carolina resonance, warm chemistry - I really like these people!
I've been listening to their music since I also heard Boots of Spanish Leather about 2years ago. There's hardly a day that goes by that I don't reach out for their sound and the feeling and place it(they) take me to. Harmony and comfort!!!
How do they make such beautiful noise? Harmony to make you cry. So many of these acts go unnoticed, Sarah Jarosz, John Leventhal , The Punch Brothers .. every one of them brilliant musicians and wonderfully modest. They don't get out to Vancouver much, so I have to be happy watching them on youtube. What I like about their act is that they ENJOY themselves and pass that on to the audience. If only we had a old fashioned radio stations that could play this stuff to the wider public.
As an Englishman too, as a fellow commented said, I feel a special affinity with this music, living in east anglia, in the countryside, I love nothing more than walking round the fields and through the woods with my dog, listening to the entire back catalogue of Watchhouse and feeling at one with the world and grateful for the life I lead. Big love guys

These kids, I say kids, because I'm 66, are easily my favorite people. Not only a great band, but they're a great couple. Andrew is a tremendous musician and songwriter. They're harmonies and there soulful melodies bring me to tears or give me joy or bring the pleasentness of the past back into my life. When I listen to them I feel something! Something at least something...
Straight up tears of joy and beauty. You dont just come across bands like this. God sends em to you. Im so blessed to hear these voices. Theyre heavenly.
Was only going to sample a little here and there. But once the boat launched I had to ride the undulating waves all the way to the other shore. So many elements, vocals, instrumental arranging, and great songwriting, woven together into a beautiful musical experience! Real depth here.

This concert in particular is amazing. We've probably listened to it over 1000 times ourselves. Remember.. "even oaks must bend..."
They sure do have the gift of healing through their music. It's really nice to see that others are touched so profoundly by their music like I have been.
That is gonna be one talented baby. Pops out of the womb with a fiddle in one hand and an acoustic in the other, all while humming "America the Beautiful"
When Emily started singing on Into the Sun, my entire body went goosebumps mode. Also, I've listened to Wildfire about 84 times at this point, and I don't think I'll ever get tired of the song or the message. It really looks like they feel what they're playing.
I also clicked on the boots video ,then 20 more that night and could not get enough since then I have seen them 4 times even flying to the Nashville shows at the rymann auditorium, being a deadhead I'm sure I'll be seeing them many more times. Love them.
I have been a Hard Rock drummer for many years and I have a studio at home but before and after I play a session I find myself sitting by the fireplace just completely captivated by the musicianship at hand.Outstanding!!
I've watched/listened to this 20-30 times and just noticed that Emily is very pregnant in this video. Had to look it up, but they have a baby girl. Congrats!!
Wildfire is such a powerful song. So relevant to today's climate here in the US. These two's voices blend perfectly together. Can't wait for Bluegrass festivals to be a thing again.
Yes. As wonderful as the music is, as eloquent and deep the lyrics, she shows that there's more passion, more depth than one voice can sing out--making love, giving birth, grieving loss, she embodies the truth right there at the mike. Andy has the same honesty; his fire burns a bit deeper in, and he meets the song where it is and let's the song have first billing. It's enough!
Indeed ,from where I'm sitting , Emily embodies the epitome of the ideal partner any man could only hope to have the chance to share even a moment with . I remember a time when I felt like I had found my partner. This music brings me back to that far away place. It lets me remember just how nice it really was. Thank you.

Since yesterday their musicianship and singership stay in my mind. It fills me up. I am happy. Her fiddle - there is something there, I cannot explain well. Beautifully sounding, never miss a moment. I want to note that I have been listening various music, mainly music from U.S. for large part of my life, but I have never felt this satisfied. I cut short and would conclude that their attitude towards music is very free, even though they seem to be on seemingly traditional track of music. That mindset produces this very lovely music. His way of playing mandolin represents that freedom. So fresh. And magical.

Hi from cold, wet locked-down England. I don't know why Mandolin Orange appeared on my TH-cam just a week ago but I'm so glad they did. The voices are perfect together and the songs are glorious. Now I've got some listening to do of all their songs, old and new.
I was scrolling through TH-cam looking for something of interest. I saw a clip of Mandolin Orange doing Dylan's Spanish Boots Of Spanish Leather. I clicked on the clip and BING! BANG! BOOOOMBO!! I was in heaven!
Just caught Andrew's little "what key is that?" in Golden Embers. He strikes me as the type that is VERY hard on themselves. Andrew: if you ever read this, your performance was flawless to me. I greatly prefer the non-sterile live performances over perfect studio work. Outstanding stuff.
This, Milk Carton Kids, Della Mae - the whole genre of melodic US folk is simply beautiful, and to see it so vibrant in a sea of Kanye West and Taylor Swift is heartening. Thank you.
Wow what lovely music. As a Scot I am interested in how the Ulster Scots shaped the culture and music of the early days East of the Appalachian and how this morphed from fiddle and pipe into blue grass. Mandolin Orange are now on my playlist.
I've been a Mandolin Orange fan for a couple of years now, all the way Down Under. No matter how many times I watch their videos, I can't but be blown away by their talent. The musicianship, showmanship and song writing is just incredible. The harmonies and how the band works together, Andrew and Emily have an incredible gift. I'm an amateur musician, I've been playing for over 30yrs, so I can appreciate their talent perhaps more than others, but, these guys are just phenomenally good. They should have a world wide audience and recording contracts falling at their feet. In this video, kudos to the camera team and audio guys, it looks and sounds fantastic, one of the best recordings I've seen/heard.
Two things make me want to cry...the sound of a really good old Martin guitar, and Into The Sun. The lyrics remind me of my Father who passed into Heaven last year. Thank you, Emily for sharing that piece of your heart. What a wonderful band.
The lady's life has changed. She will remain an artist. Just not as much time to devote. Being a mom is the the most difficult job in the world. I love these people.
Wonderful music and great audience. I can't count how many shows have I been to that have been ruined by people in the audience wanting to be part of the act. Wonderful that there is no applause after solos, no whooping shouts during solos, just honest appreciation after the final note has been played. Thanks!!!!
2023 i can onky firmly agree more with your well written comment. During a gig this weekend an artist was honest and shown hwr own weakness and a fool had to do a woahh... To be in the spotlight is calles an Artist. I agree with your comment a 100%

just a soulful joy in troubled times..
Hi from cold, wet locked-down England. I don't know why Mandolin Orange appeared on my TH-cam just a week ago but I'm so glad they did. The voices are perfect together and the songs are glorious. Now I've got some listening to do of all their songs, old and new.
I can't even recall how i got into Mandolin Orange but I'm so glad I did. Fortunate to have seen them live in an intimate setting. Pure talent.
I was scrolling through TH-cam looking for something of interest. I saw a clip of Mandolin Orange doing Dylan's Spanish Boots Of Spanish Leather. I clicked on the clip and BING! BANG! BOOOOMBO!! I was in heaven!
HEAVENLY!!!!
I love this band, their voices are like smooth butterscotch to my ears
This is lovely beyond belief but I'm so ready for the real thing again.
This is my first time watching mandolin orange, andnin the first 2 minutes I already love them
I discovered these guys yesterday. Since then I've watched about 3 hrs of videos. Crazy talented people.
yes, they are!
I just found out about you through my son. As I watch this concert I am so moved by your amazingly beautiful music! You are absolutely wonderful!!!
Yes, brilliant videography and sound. Thank you all for a wonderful evening of watching and listening.
Wonderful music and great audience. I can't count how many shows have I been to that have been ruined by people in the audience wanting to be part of the act. Wonderful that there is no applause after solos, no whooping shouts during solos, just honest appreciation after the final note has been played. Thanks!!!!
Those issues are less likely in a tiny venue with a 'select' audience. Would loved to have been at this one.
2023 i can onky firmly agree more with your well written comment.
During a gig this weekend an artist was honest and shown hwr own weakness and a fool had to do a woahh...
To be in the spotlight is calles an Artist.
I agree with your comment a 100%
My dad just got me hip to this band. Absolutely amazing all the way around & now I'm hooked, line & sinker ❤
... takes my breath away watching her smile as she plays
How have I been missing this ?
Not anymore- -now my favorite!
Each song with a more soulful sound than the next. Wonderful.
