  • I use a new tool to help identify and replace a faulty wheel bearing. Then, I use another one to beat it into submission.

    Just bought a used 2019 impala. It’s it great condition but I’m watching DIY videos like yours to familiarize myself with it. Great content.

    Got a 2015 Impala LTZ with the V6. Haven't had to replace anything other than front struts and rear shocks but with Ohio roads known for beating the hell out of vehicles, hubs will be next I'm sure! Great video!

    Thanks for this post. Very helpful. Now to decide on that $600 quote from the dealership:)

      Glad it was helpful! Crazy how much they want to charge for labor. It can be difficult to change, but if you have some patience, you can do it yourself.

      Pull one of the mechanics to the side ask how much he’ll do the work for. They all day side work if you pay em cash.

    Just had the power steering go on my 2014 Impala. Looking to replace fuse as a first step but its number is unclear in manual.Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

    • @JustLearningbyDoing
      @JustLearningbyDoing  ปีที่แล้ว

      As near as I can tell, there is not specific fuse for the power steering motor. The motors are controlled from the Power Steering Control Module. There are two different RPO codes and styles (NJ1 and NJ2).

    so i put in a new speed sensor and wheel bearing and rested the right abs speed sensor and it popped up the abs light again. am i missing something

    • @JustLearningbyDoing
      @JustLearningbyDoing  ปีที่แล้ว

      The sensor should clear on the impacted wheel. It is possible that you have another wheel that is missing the magnet too. I replaced two within a few weeks of each other. When one goes bad the others are not far behind.

    Im amazed how little rust there is with u being in Michigan. Im in Massachusetts and my impala has some ridiculous rust lol.

    • @JustLearningbyDoing
      @JustLearningbyDoing  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I've only had it a few years. I bought it with 33000 miles on it. It was obviously only lightly driven. That definitely helped it out. Rust definitely eats them here, too .

      Niice. I bought mine used with 58k on it. Now it has 138k lol. Ive only had to do a couple repairs so its been a great car overall. But i may have to change a hub now lol. Im guna go try and clean up the sensor and see if it does anything. Enjoy the car man.

      The power steering corrects itself after this detailed repair?

    • @JustLearningbyDoing
      @JustLearningbyDoing  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes. As soon as you drive the care and the sensor sends proper wheel speed information, the power steering immediately starts working again.

    What fuses do I need for my heated seats, fog lights and the back 12v plug 😂

    • @JustLearningbyDoing
      @JustLearningbyDoing  ปีที่แล้ว

      I may be able to help with that, assuming you have a 2015 Impala. The heated seats are controlled by the Seat Heating Control Module and there are two fuses in the under-hood X50 fuse block, F31 and F33. The console 12v plug is in the instrument panel fuse block, F7. The "fog lights" I assume are DRL(Daytime Running Lights). If you have HID lights(RPO T4F) the DRLs are controlled by the BCM that has multiple fuses, if you have the Halogen lights(RPO T4A) the DRLs use the low beam headlamps.

    I have a 2017 FWD and a noise is coming from what sounds like behind the front right tire and it only kicks in once i get to about 16mph. It gets very quiet like it isn’t there when i turn right but when i turn left you can hear it. Its like a boat engine in a way.

    It's sad that you can't buy that part or they need to make that thing out of very strong fridge door magnet 🧲

    • @JustLearningbyDoing
      @JustLearningbyDoing  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I just replaced my right rear hub last night. They definitely have a problem with the magnets. I hate throwing away perfectly good bearings.
