Oh my goodness I loved the way you explained re-twisting. Now I know on one side of my face re- twist to the back going clockwise and the other side which is my right side twist toward my face. Love it thank you so much.
Restarted my loc journey after 6 years of having my first set. I made a lot of mistakes with my first set so I cut them down to 3-4 inches and combed the rest out so I didnt have to regrow my hair from scratch or comb out very long locs. The mistake I made were, having my locs too skinny for my hair. A lot of locs were thinning out or falling out and I let different people retwist my starter locs at the beginning which messed up my sections. I had to do a lot of repairs on my locs and it was becoming too over bearing so I decided to start over. I liked the journey and witnessing the different stages of metamorphosis my locs were going through so I dont mind repeating the process, especially now i have so much more knowledge on locs. For my second set, my sections are much larger and I opted for two strand twist since my hair unravels very easily in coils. I already see a tremendous differnce doing this method and can tell that this journey will go a whole lot smoother.
Dope! I’m glad you’re loving your second set. This is my second set also. There’s nothing wrong with starting over to really be able to enjoy your journey!!
Doing alot of research for my daughter. She wants locs. Her hair is kind of curly. I've done two strand twist but only as a protective style. Glad I came across your channel!
Well done👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 short sweet and to the point. Nicely explained and very helpful. Love how you explained how to retwist when on what side of the head, not bringing too much tension and how that can be done, laying the hair the right way! I’m going to be doing my third retwist on myself and girl I don’t think I need to watch anyone else’s video. I’m a DIY girlie so you got me convinced😂
I just started my locs today as a birthday gift, so it was great to see this as I look forward in my journey. Thank you for posting! (Sidenote: come on Penn State!)
Another great video as usual. I am 5 months into my loc journey, I have read on forums you should wait a year before trying styles like 2strand. I did 2 strand my last retwist and it def lasts much longer
Thank you! That depends on your texture. For 4c like mine, I did two strands on my very first retwist. Looser textures will have the tendency to merge together. Just don’t keep the twists in too long and don’t use rubber bands if you don’t need them.
@@CourtneyGrayton thanks for the insight I think I also have 4 c hair, my loctitian used rubber bands. Oh mind my manners your hair is looking fire already!!!
Are there any videos where you show how to clean up parts on your own head? I recently started doing my own retwists and I find cleaning parts most difficult.
I have had locs for 6 months. I want to style my hair with two strand twists. How long should I keep them in? And do the twists ever start locing together? I wonder if they would be hard to pull apart.
It all depends on how your hair behaves. I think I have 3 type hair but its very soft and fragile. My type of hair will not work well in coils, I find 4 type hair responds very well to coils. Two strand twist is mainly used to combat frizziness and to keep the locs secure from unraveling. Its also a chosen method if people want locs on the thicker side. And yes, the twist pattern of the two strand eventually disappears as the loc matures. Once you two strand, you keep them in as two strand until your hair locs up.
Hi. What is the importance of retwisting 1 way, but 2 strand twisting the other way? I thought doing both steps the same way would keep them from unraveling. Please explain for me why doin each step in opposite directions may be a better option.

You are so welcome! That was the easiest way I could think to break it down. Glad it helped!!

I don’t retwist my own hair anymore but if I ever do, I’ll record it and share
Do you condition starter locs after shampooing?
Yes
I see you didn’t put any elastic bands. Do your twists stay in?
They did back then, but they don’t now
Yasssss❤

They can definitely lock together if kept in too long, 4 weeks is the longest I’d keep them in since you’re at 6 months.
What butter do I use?
I had no idea it was a certain direction to twist the lock. I'm glad I'm watching. Thanks ❤
How long did you leave your two strand in?
3 weeks ish

You’ll notice if you try it the same way, it will be loose!
👍🏽 got it. Thanks 😊
Can you do a video on how to slide the clips in for retwist
Definitely can! That’s a good idea
I wish you would've showed how to place the clip
Def check out my other retwist videos for tips!
