Found your channel and I am hooked on your videos. The best part of this strategy is even with you putting it out there, most people don't hae the balls to put it in play with real money. Even if they are aware of what you're doing, they don't have what it takes to make the big boy call on the river with a weak hand. The beauty of playing live against humans. Can't wait to put some of these concepts in action.
I’m a reg at my local TCH and after actually listening to these videos and not just the entertainment fun ones my win rate has def gone up. I have been 2x pot betting for bluffs when villain has a weak range and it has been working amazingly. Especially since nobody here in Texas slow plays there hand at 1/2
Me too man. I'm still learning a ton, but I have become one of the better regs at my casino relatively quickly learning from Marc's videos. He's the man
I greatly appreciate your continued videos on this topic. It takes a while to get new concepts into my brain to replace old OMC habits. It is fun to be pegged as an OMC/Nit and then blast them with much deeper thought and concepts.

Absolutely outstanding content, as always. I really appreciate how consistent your series is. Sound logic that translates from your instructional videos to your live play videos. Hope you continue to make content for a long time and hope no one at my local card rooms see it. 😂
This is great stuff. I have flagged it already for rewatch, even though I'm not sure I agree with all of it. I think that the pattern flop check, bet half, call; turn check, bet third, call; river check, bet big will fold out most of their overpairs. That check call on the turn tells me that they are praying for a cheap showdown, and they won't call enough on the river. Of course, my experience is totally skewed by playing almost exclusively 1/2 and 2/5 here in Texas, where players are not nearly as rational as what you're used to. But I still like how you've broken it down. I'm going to watch this again just before the next time I play, and try to think about opponents in this way.
Hi Marc, the first example is from a hand I played against you at The Hustler. I did have JJ. I wanted to share my thought process w you. First, I probably should have isolated to 30-35 instead of 25. I think my call of your 3 bet preflop was pretty standard. I checked in flow to you and I called on the flop bet of 1/3 pot. I checked again on the turn and again the small size led me to believe you weren’t that strong and also led me to think you may try and blast me off the hand on the river. So when the 4h hit the river and I checked again my plan was to call an overbet jam thinking you’d be using a size to try and get me off an A10 type of holding. I honestly almost said look at that sweet baby there when the 4h hit the river for some table talk…it was fun getting to play a hand against you. I’ve learned quite a bit from all of your content.
Love your strategy video's and i love it even more when i see you play in the video's. Especially the $ 100 an hour challenge at 5/5 video's are pure gold. 👍👍👍👍👍👍❤❤❤❤❤❤
9:22 I don't understand a lot of these solver metrics. Why would ATo call more than ATs? It's the same hand unless the suit is diamonds. Why would A8s call 85% with second pair but K8s folds 100%? Why is A8o K8o J8o not even considered when a bad low stakes player could definitely limp call with it. Why would pocket 66 be calling 38% but pocket 99 always folding? Why would 86s be calling 38% but 87s be folding?
Probably because the ATo contains the Ad which blocks a lot of the opponents big value and raises the question "Since opponent can't have the nut flush why does he overbet All-in, could this be a bluff?" To clarify: Since the Td is on the board, ATs does not contain any Ad.
You are clearly the best poker player on TH-cam and you explain so well and so thoroughly that it is scary. Based on your little table talk tidbits you seem like a know-it-all but also.. you totally deserve to be. Subbed and liked
When you do these videos where you show the imbalanced rec range, do you think you can contrast with a theoretically balanced range please? It would be helpful if you point out the specific parts of their range that is deviating. Thanks king
@hungryHorsePoker: What solver are you using on this video, want to grab this one for my hand study... Great video, going to employ this more in my cash game sessions, when I am barreling with draws and bluffs.
Don't listen to him, guys, he doesn't know anything. Keep playing your nit poker, folding to all my big bets, and pre-emptively shoving when you hit the nuts.
I so need this, my last 4 all-ins were losers, thanks Marc & Gethen Also any thoughts on why ATs is folded 100% and KTs calls pure in the first example hand?
You are assuming they are checking and raising with all of their value. Which may be true. This is something to do against predictable opponents. The more balanced they are the more balanced you have to be.
All the regs I play with will do this, example, with pocket AA,s , they only bet minimum preflop, check call all the way to the river , I go all in on river, they call with a set when I have 2 pair k q . How do I dodge these players
Raise KQ preflop. If they call assume Ax. If the call flop and turn with ace on the board know they have likely have two pair or better and check the river or small blocker bet if it’s a large pot.
On the specific example of KQ on T832A (you say bet/bluff medium), why not check back? As you note, you already beat his missed draws (J9, QJ), so you're not gaining EV by "bluffing" there. For sure X-back lets him win with a few hands that would otherwise fold at high frequency (99, 87, JT), but you save all your money when you run into his many good hands (AK, AT) and marginal hands that get sticky (AdXs). Curious why you didn't consider X-back in that spot with the nut no-pair (or did you consider?).
if we x: we win against some missed draws, lose to tx/axdd/at if we bet medium: we win against missed draws, get tx to fold, lose to axdd/at if we bet big: same as above betting medium should be higher ev than x, since he will have a lot of suited single pair tx that will snap fold river
Great explanation! Love your video all the time. For weak stuff + missed draws, can we use small value + medium bluff to achieve same goal but save some money when facing occasional strong stuff? Is medium bluff enough to make them fold weak range?
if they don’t have any strong stuff we don’t need to be efficient and can just empty clip to guarantee folds. when they have strong stuff we need to find that middle ground that folds weak stuff but loses min vs top of range.
@@hungryhorsepoker Big mistake in the last example imo. A. You want our opponent to fold KK, QQ, JJ. We are blocking 50% of KK and QQ. B. You want our opponent to fold the draws. With KQ we have the nut no pair and therefore we can beat all the draws.
@@hungryhorsepoker Good point! Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts. I wish I could find back the passion for poker. I can feel it on you and it inspired me.
👋😄 Great content as usual Marc, you are a boss! big ty from France 🙏!! In the last hand with kq, since we win against bluff, why we don t just check behind on the river ? Want to make 99/77/66/55/44 fold ?
thanks! because of the ace we can make single pair tx fold nearly 100% of the time with just a medium size bet, which is going to be higher EV than just x and winning sometimes.
Yeah…..Well this will give you a good belly laugh. I play the Mega Hit Poker app and love the visuals. I buy chips and win at 28% rated a balanced player. This is the hilarious part. I need to learn that if players in my game get to the river they are calling. I have seen crazy calls. I would get called with q10 on this board. They literally just call me down after the flop.
Gotta read your opponents, don’t shove on rich maniacs, they’ll call with Ace high. Shove on the capped nit who only brought one buy-in If you don’t know who that is 15 minutes into your game, gotta work on reading players
@@hungryhorsepoker can’t wait, and can’t thank you enough. I’ve been seriously crushing since I found your channel 3 months ago after years of being ever so slightly profitable.
In addition: I guess I wonder why a pot sized even a 3/4 or 2/3 pot bet wouldn't accomplish the same thing. You fold out you opponents trash that is beating you, while induce calls from say KJ at best that calls with a king of diamond. Which is crazy but yeah. Anyways, I think boards like this you might win a hand or two by bluffing, but you lose more if you are going all in on these boards with king high. Because in most scenarios, getting called by AT or even KT is very possible. As well as all of your opponents flushes. If they are capable of laying down lower flushes to this bluff, then you are printing money, but if they are stations you are losing it.

I’ve been utilizing Marc’s strat for a while and noticed a lot of players (especially at home games, sticky players and online) will get to the river with over pairs and top pair good kicker.
