- The FIRST episode of the NEW Chicago North Western Harvard Subdivision in N Scale. The Harvard Subdivision imagines a world where the CNW is still operating today, and features modern operations in N scale. This episode starts a new series because the old layout is done (see the Wisconsin Division playlist) now that we are preparing to move into a house where I can build a permanent layout. I go over what I'll do differently, and show you the initial track plan for the first level.
Layout basics:
2 level, with a helix
Point to point - staging yards on both levels
Triple tracked mainline

IT WILL BE A AWESOME LAYOUT 👍👍👍
New layouts are always fun. I look forward to your updates.
Loved this idea of the CNW in modern day, or 10 years in the past, since I first saw your layout and its still a great idea every time I see a video. Congratulations on the new house and hope to see the new layout soon!
Great video. I live around there so it’s interesting to see you modeling the area I know. Looking forward to seeing your progress! Thanks for posting!!
Looking forward to your new adventure... Gary
I'm looking forward to following this. I grew up living to next to the tracks on the west branch in Winfield Il. I'm starting my 7th and final layout.
AWESOME VIDEO THX FOR THE SHARE.😊😊👍👍
I think and when think All Is Said And Done That Layout Is Gonna Be Sweet Looking Passion And Pride and Patience will make that Layout👍👍👍👍.
I grew up in Chicago but now live in TN. My MRR is Chicago SouthEastern, I’ve conceptually loosely designed use historical Illinois Central Railroad tracks to Nashville. I belong to the Tennessee Valley Model Railroaders in Bell Buckle TN ( O gauge, HO and N scale layouts)
I appreciate your information on Crystal Lake being a terminus for some trains that don’t go to Harvard.
Very cool, looking forward to see how this develops. Although I'm in Sacramento, I grew up riding the RI between Beverly and LaSalle Street for many years, as well as the MR between Chicago and Minnesota.
Great video can’t wait for the new layout to be built. One question the atlas dual-mode locomotives can’t wait to see them in CNW colors. The question is what you gonna have between them is it gonna be the kato superliners or double-deckers from Atlas I would figure will be the superliner since you said that the CNW took over the Milwaukee Road and it’s electrified line in Montana so it will be a long distance train coming back to Chicago I also can’t wait to see what the colors They will look like when you repaint them.
Binging this...
very good my husband models Conrail and Penn Central
