Awesome update man! It was cool to see all the footage you got riding those passenger trains. I’m glad you got the wiring done and trains running! No better feeling then getting that done 😎
I’m modeling sort of the polar opposite end of the spectrum on the CNW from your layout (a Minnesota branch line in the 70’s), but love what you’re doing. N scale is great for just watching long trains go by.
I grew up in Fox River Grove. Im so excited i found this. Im too old now but i always wanted to model the CNW from Barrington to Crystal Lake in 1977ish.
Dear N Scale Chicago & North Western Harvard Sub, great vid on the progress you made on your layout. Very interesting footage you captured on your trip to Philly, as are the inspirational shots you interspersed for the different scenic sections. Love the way you explained the different aspects of the layout config. Great to see those trains run! Awesome shot of the lift down. Nifty construction, very much like that kind of approach. Looks very smooth and not at all to my surprise, because the hinge action is underneath the construction. Might be cool to lock the ‘bridge’ in place with an actual size turnout lock, just as a suggestion. Curious how you will design and construct the approach to the second deck. Think that bridge scene will be a great addition. Might be cool to make the swing bridge operational, even though it is a road bridge. Definitely looking forward to seeing your next episodes. Cheerio
16:08 Originally that was a team track, now maintenance of way storage. Good place to show off any custom MOW equipment. Fun fact the MOW tracks at Arlington Park were built to store race day trains.
Seeing that Metra train, reminded me of getting on it in Downers Grove to the Metro station downtown. Love the bridge! I kinda of hoped you would of done a video on the construction of that.
Awesome update! One constructive criticism is the cab coach has both red trailing lights and white headlights on at the same time instead of one or the other. On the three Kato metra cab cars we own, we set up one for trailing, one for leading, and one for mid train service, just by chopping short the light routing optic inside the car. However you decide to do it…That is gonna make your awesome length train that much better!
Yeah for some reason the decoder in that cab car isn't playing nicely with the new digitrax system that I installed. It was one of my first purchases years ago, I need to get it fixed so the lights are running properly!
I have this idea sometime in the future to model N scale with a triple track main. Is it really time consuming basically having triple the track laying work? Are concrete tie flex track easy to find?
Hello Sir, Love your video especially when you incorporate both the flying and the train ride mixed in with the construction of your layout. If you don't mind me asking since you received the wrong track order and the company replaced it what are you going to do with the code 80 track? Can you incorporate the tracks on your layout? Thank you for your time Sincerely Allan
It's definitely something to think about. The racetrack is on the room side, not the wall side, but no reason I can't flip it for layout purposes and do a wall flat to represent it!

Very nice work. Love seeing the Metra run. Having ridden the Metra for years and then seeing Kato's model, my layout began.

That is amazing.Thank you for sharing it🚂👍

Great update. Watching your channel has helped me decide on how I wanted to build my main layout. Planning on going with the Boone subdivision.
Nice to see you considered the proposed new Bears stadium.
I have a long family history with CNW. Love watching your build,

Thanks for the insight, I really appreciate it!
Congratulations on a huge milestone!!
Well done. Great work.

They provided a return shipping label and I sent it back in the packaging they delivered the correct code 55 in!
Are you going to the do the Route 53 overpass just beyond Arlington Heights?
Yes, since that is just to the west of the signal bridge!
Too bad you don’t have room to model a football field for the bears stadium
Maybe something in 2D like this: th-cam.com/video/HkEX99frRhU/w-d-xo.html ? Bear Down !!

@@cnwnscale yeah that would look cool!
