    I’ve used the Coleman oven a lot on a camp stove, as well as on the fire. On the stove, it tends to be a bit too much heat directly to the bottom of the baking pan. A great modification, if weight isn’t an issue, is to get a 10x10 square pizza stone and lay it in the bottom of the stove below the rack. It creates more even heating and no hot spot.

      Another option I used to do was to put small acorn sized stones on the bottom of the oven and then put the pan with the batter on top of the stones so the hot air moves around it. Thanks for sharing and watching.

    My goodness. I love your channel. Watching and learning from every video.👍👍
    Gil Gilpatrick had a book by Firefly Press called, "Building Outdoor Gear" that had patterns for making a reflector oven. His didn't fold down but with a little creative engineering one could make pins to collapse it.

      Douglas, here is a good tip that will take you far in the cleanup process. Parchment paper works in a reflector and Dutch oven over the fire, the exact same way it does in a regular kitchen. What!! I know. Just line the bottom of the pan by folding the paper. I cut the parchment paper to size before the trip so it’s much faster. This does 2 things, it makes cleanup a breeze it also makes it so you can accelerate the cooling of what you just baked, by lifting the paper out of the hot pan. On the reflector oven, because it’s tight on the short sides of the rectangle to slide the pan in the oven, you have to trim those right to the edge of the pan. Good luck, remember even mistakes are edible.

    Luv your camp cooking episodes! I learned to bake double layer cakes via Dutch Oven in scouts. Made one last summer at camp (35 yrs later), came out perfect!

    I recently purchased the cook all because of you. Why do you have to get the cook all hot first?

    • @3_Minutes_With_a_Maine_Guide

      Get it nice and hot empty over the fire for just a couple of minutes. Spray with Pam and then put whatever you have in it. It vastly reduces the bake time. It’s like preheating an oven at home.

    I just love these videos! Have you considered putting links to the products directly in the descriptions?

    • @Mainepolingguide
      @Mainepolingguide 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have, but sadly lack the knowledge of how. Also when it comes to canoe gear, I can literally name the person making the product. This would probably only happen with canoe gear manufacturers, but they say Lisa, look if you feature this on 3 Minutes I can’t fill 100 orders the next day. So I’m walking a fine line of featuring some of the finest outdoor gear, made by people who take enormous pride that you will buy their product once, and no matter what you do to it, it will be the last one you own, and not flooding them orders they know they can’t fill. So far, so good. Let me know what you are interested in and I’ll hook you up. All the best. Lisa
