    Oh wow, it amazes me why so many people feel the need to leave ugly comments. The interesting thing about it though, 99% of those who leave unkind or vulgar comments, have never uploaded a TH-cam video. I guess standing on the sidelines and criticizing others helps them feel better about about the fact that they never had the courage to create a TH-cam video.

      Sir, the world is just getting so cold💨 I purchased an instant pot today and had no clue what I was doing and decided to come to TH-cam. This video was very informative and saved me so much time from having to read through the instruction booklet. She took the time to explain it and there is no reason under the sun to be nasty. Human beings are cruel to one another and I have the hardest time understanding why. I purchased a bird feeder this past summer to attract some humming birds and had a few questions and this guy made a video explaining things and people were so rude and nasty until he deleted the video. I’m so grateful that I have a loving heart but I’m losing faith in humanity one person at a time and that’s really sad 😢

      People are much ruder to Asians, especially if they don't look glamorous, like celebrities. I've noticed this again and again on TH-cam and elsewhere. If she were white or something else, and had the same video or WORSE, she'd have nicer comments and fewer upvotes. If she were white and looked worse, and was dressed more poorly, and spoke more poorly, she'd still get nicer comments and fewer downvotes. I know from daily experience.

    I received my Instant Pot about ten days ago. I ran the water test and it worked perfectly. Next day I followed some TH-cam videos and cooked a pot roast that came out wonderful. A few days later I prepared everything, seared and started a beef stew but the pot wouldn't pressurize. I tried everything including making sure the pressure valve was clean and the seal was properly seated but nothing worked. I ended up finishing the stew in the oven.
    I should mention that when I received the Instant Pot I noticed that the cover over the pressure valve I'd seen in the TH-cam videos before I ordered mine was missing. So I eMailed the manufacturer who responded promptly and told me the design was changed and that cover was no longer needed. So it seems that problems with this pressure valve is not something new.
    Bottom line is the Instant Pot concept is very seductive and I'd really like to have one but it seems there is a lurking failure in the design that I'd rather not have to worry about. So I eMailed Amazon and they had UPS pick mine up today for a refund.
    I wonder how many others have had failures after initial success(es). Should I consider myself lucky that mine quit working early-on rather than after the warranty period expired.

    Love these tips! Tonight was my second time using Instant Pot and at the end it released loads of water and grease onto my kitchen cupboards. The recipe video I followed didn't seem to have any problems after cooking so I came onto TH-cam to look for tips on how to use this thing. Didn't occur to me to put a kitchen towel over it, but great tip that I wish I had known about beforehand so I wouldn't have spent 10 minutes cleaning the cupboards.

    Do not put a towel over the vent....! If lots of steam gushes out, turn it back to 'Sealing' and use something flat either a flat wooden spoon type and just gently lift a little on (this way you can regulate the amount of steam coming out the end of the vent, Not moving the vent (just lift it I that place) back toward you until most of the steam comes out, then turning the vent back to release steam position.

    I'm considering buying an instant pot after watching your video. How long does it take to cook bean soups/stews using dried lentils, chickpeas, black bean etc. Also is there only one size instant pot as i'm only cooking for 2 people. Thanks!

    • @LivingRichlyonaBudget
      @LivingRichlyonaBudget  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For chicken soups, I cook for 20 minutes. I haven’t made soups with dried lentils or beans yet. There are 3 different sizes. 3 quart is good for 1 - 2 people. 6 quart is good for 2-4 people but also for 2 people if you want to have leftovers. Then there is the 8 quart. I recommend the 6 quart for you so you have options, for leftovers or if you are cooking for a party. And the 6 quart (with the current Amazon coupon) is only a little bit more than the 3 quart. So the 6 quart is more worth it and this is the one I use! Here is my affiliate link: amzn.to/31svcMs

      It's better to leave the keep warm feature on so that you can see how long it has been since the pot stopped cooking. The timer will count up.

    Thanks for this video, was gifted one recently and was a little timid about it using it(not the biggest chef myself). I'm now about to chow down on some chicken tacos. Subscribing now.

      Melissa Adair Thanks for watching! How did it turn out?

      I didn't realize how long it took to get to "high pressure" as required by the recipe. Think I'll stick to the stovetop for soups. But my husband - who eats a hard boiled egg almost every day - loves how the IP does those. He's going to try yogurt next. I'm sure I'll find plenty of terrific recipes in the cookbook we just received. But I needed your video for a quick overview of what everything was for so thanks again.

    The cord is short due to the high current draw of the appliance. If you put this on an extension cord or power strip then you could potentially overheat the cord and cause a fire.
