This is a fascinating tale for me because my brother was killed by a drunk driver in '83. The investigation was botched and the guy walked, my other brother vowed to kill the man but my father stopped him. After my dad died in '92, my psychotic brother tried to track him down several times, but couldn't find him. My mother was a skip tracer and bounty hunter and at my behest she tracked him to Rhode Island. (This all happened in New Mexico) He was dead. He died after being hit by a 23 year old drunk driver. My brother had just turned 24 when he died. It was such a weird, surreal ending to the saga, and I'm very curious how the drunk driver that killed him will fare later in life. Will history repeat itself? Who knows. It's certainly interesting though.

There is redemption in this story, though not from where you'd expect it. Douglas Parkhurst's grandson, and namesake, Doug III, actually sought out Darlene and apologized on behalf of his grandfather and his uncle. His life hasn't been easy, and it took a lot of courage for him to overcome the generational pain that held both families hostage for 50 years. I applaud him.
Why is no one considering the possibility that Doug's death was suicide? He was terminally ill, he had already declared that he was ready to "go home," and now here was an opportunity to die in a manner strikingly similar to the way he had killed someone years prior. Maybe he thought that this rampaging car had come for him, and simply stepped up to his destiny.
Well he's home in hell now, I hope that's where he expected to go. He's having the worst most painful torture right now forever, you'll never believe it.

Another option on his motive might be he was trying to trap Carol to prevent her escaping the police and avoiding justice. Possibly to help her avoid a similar fate to his own, suffering from failure to accept responsibility all those years. Or maybe some twisted sense of vengeance?
New York doesn't have a 3rd degree murder charge. Doug would have been charged with 2nd degree vehicular manslaughter (as they can't prove any aggravating factors) and the statute of limitations is 5 years.
Oh I remember this one! It even made the news in Australia, I believe probably due to the bizarre nature of the incident (car being driven on ball field) and that in recent times we'd had a couple of similar "cars used as weapons" incidents (Bourke St, Melbourne massacre - perhaps another case for you to look at - just terrible 😢) and then one a few years later on Flinders Street. Plus other cities around the world were experiencing this new kind of terror - Nice, Berlin, London, Barcelona et al. The fact this turned out to be a mentally ill woman didn't necessarily alleviate concerns about cars being used as weapons. I had never heard the whole story though that you covered today. The entire situation does have an air of fate intervening where the justice system had failed. Tragic story all round for everyone involved really. Your analysis was as always thought-provoking and insightful.
I think I'm going to add a theory - theory number four: Doug was carrying around repressed guilt and just wanted to end his life. Being hit by a rampaging driver seemed like the perfect method, so when he saw the opportunity, he found a reason to put himself in front of that car.
Seems that Sharrow was the only person who had her head on straight despite being actually insane. Hitting Parkhurst with was nothing laudable, despite him being a selfish old man who belonged in prison; it was a poor woman losing her mind.

You could see it like he was still being selfish even to the end. And due to his cowardice, someone else has to live with the result of his actions. Ie the driver who hit him. And has to now live with the trauma of that.

Another option on his motive might be he was trying to trap Carol to prevent her escaping the police and avoiding justice. Possibly to help her avoid a similar fate to his own, suffering from failure to accept responsibility all those years. Or maybe some twisted sense of vengeance?
You are to good Dr.Grande. Love your case analyst. Txs
Manslaughter, from what I remember, is murder in the third degree. I thought there was no statute of limitations on murder.
New York doesn't have a 3rd degree murder charge. Doug would have been charged with 2nd degree vehicular manslaughter (as they can't prove any aggravating factors) and the statute of limitations is 5 years.
This story is crazy wow my first time hearing about this. It seems almost like something from a movie
Totally unrealated... I'd love to hear Dr. Grandes take on the congressional UAP hearing today.
Very salty review tonight!! I loved it!! Thank you so much Dr Grande. I look forward each day to your marvelous videos. 💜
Dr. Grande, you hit this one right outta the park! ⚾️
Very interesting case. Thank you Dr Grande for these videos and for your witty and dry humor.
You really killed it with this one❤
Great video😊
Doug was doing penance.
Carol needs her license removed forever.
There's no revenge here. The Special was able to live out his life, The child was not😢
Thanks!
Very peculiar story.
Thank You for telling us all about these events. :)
I hope Carol does well today and Carolin's family is finding some peace.
Thanks Dr.Grande for your analysis of this case. But was curious if you could analyze the Adrianne Reynolds Case.? Thanks Dr.Grande.
Best analogies yet!
Carol hit the karma ball, and it flew into the stands......homerun.
This one was indeed a home run, Dr. Grande! Not only did this one cover all the bases, your puns were intended!
So many wonderful puns... :) I love your wit, sir.
This is really tragic.
Dr. Grande, you are shining light on so many unknown (by me) stories. Although they are horrible, the dry humor and your insightful analysis, make them much easier to bear❤
🌵🏜️🌵🏜️🌵 Hey 👋 Doc always a pleasure to see your take. Much respect
You are awesome. Doc. I ❤️. Your. Take on things like this
Wonderful dialogue Dr Grande, very few videos make laugh out loud these days, but you managed it. What a great story of poetic justice.
Precious little baby! So sad! 💔🙏
good job combining tragedy and humor
I love Dr Grande's dry wit when explaining the situation! Great analysis as well 😂❤
Dr. Grande is the king of casual shirts!!! Love it!!!!
Dr. Grande - Your analysis and storytelling of these entangled tragedies is an absolute masterpiece (puns and all)! 👍💜🌵
Perfect example of what goes around comes around. Karma finally caught up to him.
You could see it like he was still being selfish even to the end. And due to his cowardice, someone else has to live with the result of his actions. Ie the driver who hit him. And has to now live with the trauma of that.
Wow unbelievable this needs to be told to everyone!
Those puns are brilliant
Dr Grande just keeps em coming in this one! Some of even str8 outta left field!!
Oh my god. Laughed my ass off with the ball park humor.
Isn't this little girl precious.🙏
We need a video on the Taylor Schabusiness trial please doctor!
Oh so clever with your words.
A very sad story
Always interesting
Thank you
Peace
Thank you Dr.
Could you please analyze the case of the young lady who was attacking people with a baseball bat around the Chicago area around 4 weeks ago.
