First race in years coming up this weekend. I broke my back in 2010 on a bike and haven't really ridden dirty bikes since. I have any 6 hours on my new bike and I'm taking the plunge Saturday. Your videos give me confidence
Love it. Used the feet on the pegs drill yesterday and already notice a difference. Saved myself with throttle instead of dabbing ended up being much faster
Lol I my second season at the ripe age of 40 as well. Seat time is everything, I have progressed a good amount in the last few months. Keep at it and don’t ride over your head. Personally I think the best way to corner faster is to coast faster into the turn and almost try to low side the bike. Use the front brake to slightly to adjust your lean angle if necessary and feather the clutch to modulate the acceleration so you don’t stand the bike up to much exiting the turn. Stay safe
Here's another secret tip on my part: keep the throttle a little open the whole curve so that the chain is always a little bit taut. The earlier the gas is opened a little, the better. But not much!
I like to keep a steady and a little bit open throttle on corners. That makes me steer the bike sliding the rear wheel and being safe on the front wheel.
Hey Tyler, first of all, thank you so much for the best quality tips on MX techniques on TH-cam, they really helped me as a beginner rider. My question concerns the separation of braking and turning that you suggest (and which is generally suggested), it'a being said that you have to finish your braking before you lean (turn) the bike into the corner, but we also know that upon releasing the brakes, the suspension rebounds and thus puts the weight off of the front wheel decreasing the contact patch, so it's recommended to stay on the brakes a little longer, namely past the tip in (or lean) which is called "trail braking" in street/track riding. What's your opinion on that? Is it irrelevant to MX riding or is it simply a more advanced cornering technique?
Keep up the hard work, your videos have helped me progress so much. I am asking for some help. Ive watched the Shifting Mistakes video you made 2 yrs ago, but could you do a how/when to shift. Like shifting in the air to setup for the next section or clutching or not clutching to shift....shifter setup. im thinking on adding 2 inches to my shifter. i wear size 13 boots and i hit false neutral or drop a gear by mistake sometimes
This is the first time I've heard to keep the feet on the pegs while cornering. Usually they say keep the inside foot up to balance the outside momentum of the bike.
my.02 worth, try to find a place you can set up a small track with 3 or 4 corners all going the same way and pound laps for 20 minutes one way then go do normal riding and next time go the other way around. pounding corner after corner after corner builds muscle memory and experience. try to keep the speed down like 1st gear corner with a short burst of 2nd between then hard on the brakes into the next. you want that shift up and down, also for memory.
Hi MX factory,,, got a question for you guys all the way from new Zealand. I'm just learning to ride and watch ur vids ,,, there awesome btw. I know what the right thing to do is when riding now with body position throttle etc but I'm having trouble being fast enough moving around the bike. Like I can't seem to keep up with moving forward then moving my foot to the rear brake , changing down... All that sorta stuff. Can you make a vid on drills to do so my brain will do all the things fast enough... Will this just become second nature with experience. I keep doing things like going over a jump into a corner then by time the corner hits I haven't had time to brake or move forward on the bike or change down etc... Any help would be awesome
Thanks for all the tips! New to motocross and only getting my bike Jan next year! I however would love to see body position(camera on handlebar facing to rider) side to side with a helmet view to see what you do where. I don’t understand front wheel braking and how much pressure can be used with what body position! Thanks in advance!
Keep them coming! Hey I used to dirt ride alot 40 years ago. Hahaha and want to see if I can do it again some... Not as crazy I'm 60 now and 5 foot 4.. What bikes are out there for not a beginner but middle ground rider what motor size.. I like the Suzuki 400 /450? Dual sport what do you think?
I learned another thing about riding that goes hand in hand with this video... DON'T GET TOO COCKY!!! If you get too cocky and take turns as a overly confident beginner, you'll eat $h!t faster than you can say supercalifridguliciousexpialidosious! If you know how to say that... (trust me... I learned that the hard way...)(and this normally happens on wet mud and on loose soil).
😐😐 i get whats being said but is that clutch getting pulled in at all during the turn???? I cant understand the concept of only pulling the clutch in halfway sometimes.. I get so freaked out while im starting to break in 3rd gear..have to pull in the clutch and shift down once... then i just let the clutch out and by then im craping my pants already at the turn not remembering how to lean. I know you COULD just keep the clutch in until youre leaving the turn but im guessing you do all of the shifting before hand so idk why I'd be pulling it in a tiny bit other than it slows the bike down a bit.💀 all of the videos i see dont explain the clutch while turning at all.
@@xxdarkcarl could be that if your getting some chain slap while rear breaking but that’s a good thing because you are using the rear brake effectively but you would still need to apply some clutch if so. Otherwise downshift right before you start breaking. Good luck

I need all the help I can get for a 40 year old beginner
I'm in the same boat! I'm not new to riding just new to riding on a track. These videos are a great reference for me. I'm also 40...lol!
42, right there with you bro!...lol

We were all beginner at one point, glad we could assist!
Yup just getting back to riging at 42. Keep those knees healthy. Knees sideline me every time if i havent worked them out for a while
Getting my first bike this week, been watching all your videos for tips

Great pro tips!! Keep teaching, were allll ears. 🔥💪
Can you guys make a video on how to jump for total beginners? (Like first time ever jumping)
Yes we can!
@@TheMxFactory thanks!

Great stuff Coach!!!
Thanks
Newish to mx. Nice explanation.
Techs for road cornering v different from dirt.
Safest place for foot/ankle is on the pegs.
We will definitely shoot that!
Tip #2 !!!!
Depending on the corner and what side your shifting on depending on the bike
Boys can you please try wheelie a 2002 125 two stroke ktm, I've tried using the powerband and everything but i just cant
Who smashed the pipe on that Honda?! ;P
״keep feet on the pegs" - I see that Aj got you on that one haha

American
What about Canada bro
The problem I have is I ride a 4 stroke and when I go to the corner and apply the break my bike wants to turn off
Watch the video again. It has your answer to your problem
Feather the clutch to keep the bike from stalling. Are you applying rear brake into the corner?
I am occasionally because I'm riding in sand so that way my front end doesn't fall into deep
