Why not drive an airbag ?
that is actually not a bad idea. An object with rubber like mechanical properties will sure act safer for a passenger than a metallic or organic based vehicle
Younes PhD Henni Yeah rubber is known for it's strength.
Honestly I think we should invest much more for increasing the safety of our transportation, planes, automobile, trains etc. We spend lot of efforts increasing speed, comfort, style, without matching these advances with the appropriate security systems.
I thought about spraying foam mixed with rubberized undercoating in the fenders of my car, i would imagine it would help in a crash. and i would coat the rest of my car with rubberized undercoating. wouldn't even have to worry about people slamming their door against your's anymore...
Advances have been made in all the areas you referenced:
Airliners may soon be equipped with dual Heads Up Displays, Low Light Television systems, and Infrared Vision systems. There are automatic unusual attitude recovery systems being tested.
Automobiles are getting warning and automatic systems to ensure somewhat faster braking and collision avoidance.
Trains are getting better speed zone and automatic braking systems.
Easy, implement the airbag in a replaceable sideskirt that can just plug in

Actually not a bad idea, easy to implement, won’t be nearly as expensive as other methods, and could be easily adaptable to many models.

This could potentially save the lives of motorcyclists in the future.
When NASA dropped the Mars rover, I believe it was completely surrounded in a cocoon of airbags. Some years ago, I wondered if cars could just have all of these external airbags to cushion them during a nasty rollover.
I think it would be cheaper just fitting a lighter version of a roll cage inside.
Or just buy a car that already does have.....SAAB.

In a way yes but imagine a very minor impact sets it off, you cant see anything after that...

I came here to see the actual impact not hear bs and all I get is half of a collision.
I think that most people who would be interested in an external airbag are less concerned with the cost of false alarms, and more concerned about their safety. It would be interesting to see a test where a car with an external airbag on the front collided with a car with an airbag on the side.

I'm buying a Tesla Model Y. I personally have had it up to here (forehead level) with special car components that only an OEM can repair and the cost is more than what the car is worth.

2015 I invented such technology in srilanka.still i have certificate given by the ruhunu campus . There i recommended external air bags for avoid sinking in water accidentally and for absorb kinetic energy of collision .
Plz give me a answer ........which type of senses are use into this....for a side of the car...for the area detector...

Saving someone’s life is more important than a fucking car appraisal.
Imagine a mechanic saying thank god the car didn’t have an external airbag I can repair it now and sell it for some good cash let me just remove the dead brain bits from the dashboard first.

brads3111 Repair after crash cost fortune, that is why many cars are totaled. No because of the damge size but because of the cost of needed repair
1: buy used cars
2: buy an ensurance
3: get a dashcam
4: if a single repair is too expensice sell you car and buy a new used one

Thank goodness for needing more proves before adopting external airbags!
I am beginning to just issue a big thick pillow to each of my passengers instead of getting my ear drums blown out, face filled with lead and bank account emptied just to pay for insurance because I have many airbags in my car.

Instead of airbags, cars should have an ejection button where you fly to space and come back landing on an airbag. Brilliant idea.

I would certainly pay the extra cost to decrease my chances of injury during tbone, that 30% force may make or break you.
Sensors that helps avoiding accidents in the first place is what you want ,not being surrounded by bags

Although good in theory, something like this really isn't practical. If you're in an accident like that, air bag or not, your doors are gonna be caved in and need to be replaced regardless
Airbags are not for reducing damage. If you notice modern interior airbags actually rip the dash and steering wheel open to deploy... airbags is to protect the passengers from impact and nothing more regardless how much damage it does to the car. In fact, it's more favorable for car manufacturer to inflict damage to the car because a new one will get purchased.
