Feels like a mix of Dice Throne and Escape the Dark Castle. My gripe on it is the cards are way too big. Might've saved some space with smaller cards, plus your suggestion, it would've fitted in your kalax. Also, the boss cards needs some art on its flip side instead of just text. It would've been way more interesting to watch while you read the text. But thanks for the discovery, I completely missed this one on KS. Happy Holidays ! 🎄🎉😊
Oh great comparison! Really appreciate you watching, and yes I personally feel I don't need the huge cards with tiny font. But the gameplay is really enjoyable! Happy holidays to you!!
Some of the monster deck cards have a lot of flavor and are completely full. Also, we didn't want people to have pick up their player deck cards constantly to read what the effects are. As for the artwork, each piece took over 20 hours. We really put a lot of effort into the core pieces, but yeah we could totally add some quick sketch color artwork to future boss deck cards.
Just played this today and played the choose your own adventure story. It was a ton of fun! Although the mechanics are Dice Throne, there are so many powers, so many abilities that make this a very unique game. I played the Cursed Paladin who used his flip ability to win the game! Really enjoyed it.
This looks really great; we tend to play a lot of co-op at our house, so this is definitely going on The List. I wish they'd gone with standard-sized cards (there's no need for the oversized ones), from both a cost and storage perspective. And, yeah, just card dividers between decks would be a better way to go than molded slots with so much empty space. Eh, I've never yet skipped a game because I objected to how it stores, and I don't expect this to be any different. Thanks for the play through! I'm going to show it to the fam, and see if they agree that we should go order it.
Thanks Colin. Enjoyed the playthrough. Looks like it is a fun game. Wondering if the extra space in the big box is to allow for expansions? Hope you, Monica and the family had a great Christmas.
for cards that say that make clones of monster, if you defeat a clone can you still refresh 2 cards or is only when the monster card is defeated that you can refresh?
The big question is: If you already have Dice Throne Adventures, season 1, and season 2, do you *really* need Catharsis? Is it unique enough to justify purchasing when compared to Dice Throne? I'm going to say no, since the yahtzee-style mechanics are already there and have been done before. The only reason I can think of for picking up Catharsis is if you're looking for something cheaper than Dice Throne. Any thoughts?
Really good question! I would say if you want fully co-op this one beats out Dice Throne as a lot of the actions can help fellow players and Dice Throne was not setup to be co-op initially. But overall if you have Dice Throne I don't think you need this one. I of c ourse have both right now, we will see how long that lasts!
@@OneStopCoopShop thanks! I mainly play solo, so perhaps Dice Throne Adv. is all I need. On a side note, you did a video about the deckbuilding game, Tournament Fishing, but it's not on your channel anymore. Do you know why it was removed?
I think a campaign game is coming and that will finish dice throne 😅 IMO... this game have more depth and choice impact and with a full campaign it will be impressive 😊
@@OneStopCoopShopbut from my understanding, the options were basically, lose 2 morale or lose 1 morale (take damage but then use morale to recover it)? Edit: my bad, I get it now, when you reach the stage of morale that you lose 2 to heal, if you were to get the card then, it would make a difference, my apologies. Are all the boss cards in every game? Or are there more cards but you only use a certain number, like escape the dark castle system? I only ask as if they’re all used I worry about replayability.
Just saw this on FB. Came to TH-cam to find some more info on it. It looks pretty cool. But not sure it justifies $100 price tag. I just picked up Champions Of Midgard for $40. And I feel like that has way more stuff with it. I think when not on sale Champions is $60. I guess I'll go check out their website and see if I can find more info on the other characters and monster sets for varied play throughs. Thanks for taking the time to make this video Edit: I didn't realize how much more came with this lol. Wow.. I guess there's the $100 price point.
@@cyberwizardgames5889 it would be nice if you could offer that box to backers in some way. That giant box is a pain. And also detremential to the components. The components fly inside all over the place. While nothing happened to the card, one of my dice holder on the box was already smashed during shipping.
@@joachim4889 as soon as we have a smaller box we would offer the empty box as well. I understand the box is big, but backers wanted sleeves and we added 8 decks from the 16 planned when we launched. We will let people know when we do a 2nd edition. Hope you have been enjoying the game!
Game looks interesting. Graphic design lazy on an epic level. Cost of the game is way too high for low quality the graphic design is. Card stock and paper cut feels questionable. I’m interested but game should be much cheaper.
Another great playthrough, Colin. You guys have finished the year strong! Thanks for all the hard work and fun times, my family appreciates it.
Thanks so much!!! Happy New Year to you!!
Great to see your play-throughs Colin, by far my favourites. More!
Thanks so much for watching!!

I can see that!

Interesting game. Seems to be well reviewed.

Thanks so much for the video. May I ask if you think this game is better true solo, solo 2 handed or 4 player coop?
You know I think with simultaneous it works pretty well at any count. Some of the bosses are not scaled per player and maybe should have been

Happy you like it!
@@cyberwizardgames5889 Yes, the game play, variety, and art draw me in on this one, especially with how easy this looks like it is to table.
Why include that first event card at all? Perhaps would have made sense to include that you cannot use morale to heal after that card?
Remember those are random so if you drew that later you might not want to spend the morale and just soak the damage!
Some decks are randomly shuffled and some choose your own adventure style. So he just got unlucky getting that card first.

Think the box was made that big because they plan on releasing multiple expansions
Sure but then you need more slots right? I just feel like this game should be able to fit on a kallax shelf! Hehe!! Regardless still enjoying it!
Sleeving. But you can store more characters and bosses per slot if you don't sleeve.
@@OneStopCoopShop we will make a smaller box some day in the future when we do a reprint 😊 (12in x 7in) so nearly 3x smaller
