    Best video I found on this. After ordering an exhaust system for $450 they sent me the wrong parts so now I have to return the exhaust. I went to home Depot, bought the drill bits for $30 and did it exactly how you did here and voila, it sounds just how I wanted it to. Now I can use the money from the other exhaust system for custom chrome. Thanks for the vid!

    It took me forever to do this. The plate was easy to remove but on the newer models there's a thicker weld on the inside baffle. I just rode around without the plate for a while. I would wiggle the baffle occasionally. One time when I was riding the lower baffle came out while on the road. I didn't see where it went. The top pipe was still baffled, a few months ago I saw that it was very loose but the flange was still hung up on the inside. After wiggling it and using pliers I managed to get it pulled out. The bike sounds a lot better. I still would like to get new pipes put on at some point.

    Funny how so many people hate on this guy modding his bike. Since you are too childish in the mind let me give you some valuable advise. Things do not last forever, you do not last forever, stock exhaust is cheap as hell due to most people trashing them and buying aftermarket. Why do you give a shit about what someone else does to their own property? It is simple if it floats his boat then good to go even if it has negative ramifications.

    I took a drill bit and board four holes on each pipe and if I didn't not like that sound I would do two more on each pipe until I get the sound that I liked. Now the problem was I did that with an 03 Volusia with the carburetor and they had to readjust the carb. I just thought I'd bring that up if anybody who tries this if they take off and there's a lot of hesitation you need to get that carburetor adjusted

    damn. And here I was about to order a whole new set of aftermarket pipes (which probably would have costed hundreds). Now is also the perfect time for me to do it since I gotta change my rear tire anyway, not that I need the bike jacked up in order to do that, but still, 2 birds with 1 stone. Home Depot here I come!!
    **UPDATE** I actually went to harbor freight instead of HD. They had a better deal on a cordless drill kit, as well as a 1500 pound Motorcycle lift jack, which will definitely come in handy for removing my rear tire since it went flat the other day (Shinko is a garbage tire brand BTW, probably gonna get Pirelli or something else next)

    After watching another video on a person who changed his stock pipes and air filter doesn't mean your bike is going to run faster or give you more horse power, all your bike is going to do is make more noise. In fact you could be losing horse power because your bike's computer isn't programmed to the modifications you did to your bike. The other video the bike was put on a dyno and it's computer was reprogrammed to run with the new modifications.

    • @SchofieldRacing
      @SchofieldRacing  8 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Well, it's kind of like putting Flowmaster exhaust on a car which will then have less back pressure. You won't gain much horsepower in the car unless you also change out the intake. The more air in = the more air out. I haven't changed the intake or anything on my bike. The only thing I've really gained is a deeper tone and MAYBE a little more power. I can say that I still don't regret doing this and still don't have problems with my bike. :)

      I just finished doing this mod to my 07 C50 earlier today. It sounds great and honestly does not sound too loud going at higher speeds on the freeway. The stock pipes are insanely quiet to begin with, and from what I understand, these baffles at the very end aren't the only baffles in the stock pipes. I love the way my bike sounds now. It's not quite as loud as your typical Harley, but its damn close and definitely has a deeper pitch to it now. Before, these pipes were so quiet, it didn't even sound like a real bike. Now it sounds like a true bike and I feel like I can get an approving vibe of any other bike enthusiasts I pass by. And besides, even if it is too loud for some people, #LoudPipesSaveLives

    On the 05 mine is fuel injection.. what did you have to do with the fuel system before you can cut the baffles out? Mine runs rich as hell most of the since I bought the bike with 2500 miles on it back in 07.. now I got 95k on it and it still runs rich... I have not touched the exhaust yet...

    • @SchofieldRacing
      @SchofieldRacing  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I didn't change anything with my fuel system before or after removing the baffles. If your system is working as it should, it will automatically calibrate with the change of the Air/Fuel mixture. You may have a bad Air/Fuel ratio sensor causing it to run rich.

      @@SchofieldRacing hey Danny, I tried to look up o2 sensors on my bike.. it doesn't have one. Instead it has a pair valve that allows fresh air in to the exhaust after it leaves the cylinder. They main complaint is they get stopped up and the bike popped back through the exhaust. Mine was just out right running rich. So I followed the guys advice, and for the first time since '08 my bike will idle on it's own and smooth as silk without having to rev up the engine to keep the bike running. I'm extremely happy at the moment. Thanks for encouraging me to do a Google search that has cured a problem the Honda shops couldn't.

It's kind of childish to want a loud bike at my age, I'm 50+.. Do what you want, but you have to live with the consequences and may need earplugs when you ride with a half helmet.

And according to the Pennsylvania Motorcycle Course you should where ear plugs cause the wind can destroy your ears over time. Be safe out there man, keep your head on a swivel.
