Quick tip on the clip if it feels front heavy, unscrew the grip part and flip 180 and tighten. Your phone will then be more over the centre of the pad.
On my PC it shows as dinput when connected via bluetooth - it works OK when using the Steam API wrapper. With the separate 8bitdo USB v2 adapter, the black one, it shows up as a native xinput controller - everything works including the guide button - just no rumble. Agree with Lon that the regular SN30 pro is much MUCH better in terms of compatibility and HAS rumble. 👍👍
Great review, as always! Did you check if the controller works with Windows 10 , also? Either natively with games that support Bluetooth controllers or streaming games from the home console, via the Xbox app?

I thought this was an April fools joke when I first heard about it being released. I didn't think 8bitdo were really that stupid.... I also didn't expect Microsoft to let them put the Xbox logo on it and have it not work for their device. Youd think they'd be like "woah woah woah, you can't make an Xbox controller that doesn't work on Xbox, you'll make us look bad." I'd have bought it in a heartbeat if it actually worked for Xbox. I'm sure they lost 70%+ of their sales because of that....

I was very interested in this controller as a multi-purpose investment that I could use for gaming on my phone or when I visit friends with a Switch or multi-player PC game, but most importantly as a fourth xbox controller for my home console. It is beyond me why xbox would license a controller that can play their games and has equitable hardware to their controllers, but exclude making the controller compatible with the console. I can't justify the cost myself. It cannot possibly be that difficult for Microsoft or 8bitdo to make it compatible with the console.
I would have been fine with the limited functionality if they had priced it accordingly at, say, $30. But $45 is too much for a small Android-only controller, even with a clip. This is a rare miss from 8BitDo. All they had to do was give it Xbox/PC functionality as well and they would have knocked this one out of the park. Do you know how many people would love to have that d-pad for their side-scrolling platformers on Xbox?
I am trying to find a list of games that work with this controller, specially since CoD Mobile does not support it and Minecraft doest not register the triggers (even when changing to digital triggers)
a pity they don't sell these phone clips as standalone for the other sn30 pro, their regular clip is not very usable unless you have a very small phone

I use both. I use an original 8bitdo sn30 pro when I'm in VR, since it uses up a lot less space in front of me. I use a controller for certain parts of games, like the srv in Elite Dangerous. I use an Xbox controller for almost everything else
I know it says it works with android but I got it I as a gift and I got a IOS iPad and iPhone so would it work wireless with IOS devices or can I plug it in to my IOS device or does it just not work with IOS all together. Please someone answer
@@alexcrowder1673 bud it clearly states in the name for Xbox on android, xcloud doesn't support rumble hence why it has no rumble motors. Why would you add rumble motors to a controller that can't use them, you then increase the cost to the consumer for no reason.

FYI, mainly use the SN30 Pro on the original SNES. Only looking for another edition to play on consoles that belong to friends and family. And the Switch USB thing has worked well on my nephews Switch. And it's been a blast for the brother to use a retro style controller.

Odd. I love the dpad on mine. The only dpad I ever had an issue with from 8bitdo is the SN30 pro wired version. The Bluetooth version is great. I have a lot of. 8bitdo controllers now.

I got me one of these and I am using it for Android games and everything functions in the game except the right stick it does nothing and in a tester it clearly works only in game it does not
Hey Lon, I tried updating my sn30 pro's firmware using the 8bitdo updating tool, selected SN30 Pro, then it updated and now instead of a green LED to indicate it's turned on, the LED flashes blue once, and then nothing, the controller won't turn on. I figured cuz I used the sn30 pro firmware it'd work.. I can still go into update mode by holding RB+LB+Xbox button but I have no way of flashing the original firmware back cuz it's not in their update tool, . Any ideas on how to fix it? I've sent an email to 8bitdo about it hoping they could help me out but maybe someone here has the same problem or a solution?
@@S1LENCEDX got it fixed, they updated their firmware program, just download it from their website, run the program, put your controller in update mode by holding RB+LB+Xbox button, then connect it to your pc through usb. It should take you to where you can select your controller, just select the SN30 Pro for Android and click update, happy gaming :)
Man, all i just wanted was leveled sticks with xbox buttons, they finally make it and it will only work for one thing and not like steam games? Gosh ill never find the perfect controller will i? (Xbox controllers cause physical pain to me due to the stick placement, so ive been hunting a Xbox controller that has the leveled sticks sorta like the Playstation controllers do which dont cause pain to my hands)

That's extremely misleading for them to brand it with all the XBox branding - yet NOT include X-input support. That is a deal breaker for me.

8bitdo add rumble to this and make firmware compatible with Xbox and I'll definitely get one. I like those triggers.
Careful mine just won't register my right trigger fully on ac4 or ac rogue it only registers at half pull when being pressed fully

It does support xinput, native controls in android gaming is through xinput not dinput.

Odd. I love the dpad on mine. The only dpad I ever had an issue with from 8bitdo is the SN30 pro wired version. The Bluetooth version is great. I have a lot of. 8bitdo controllers now.
