    Enjoy your videos. Good to see you tackle the B9. I did it several years ago using the Tena Control setup. It was a lot of fun. Still have it in my office.

    The lighting effects are wonderful, I think we need more 'Plug n Play' lighiting (etc) stuff for our model kits. If like me you can't sloder for toffee, then these are a lifesaver! Trust me I just can't get the basics of soldering!

    Happy new year from another made in 1962 Irwin Allen nut! It's always fun to watch your builds Phil,I'm looking forward to enjoy the build along with you and everyone!

    Just purchased the same lighting kit. They also offer a wall plug instead of using the batteries and there is also background sounds that Robot always makes.

    Hi Phil, Happy New Year to you, great to see your tackling the B9 kit, I have had it in my stash for about 10yrs, together with the Paragrafix etch kit and the glass bubble head, I also have a Voodoo FX light and sound board for it, I will have to get round to building soon.

    Happy New Year. I build a full size B9. That was enough but this looks like a nice kit.

    Phil, you mention you loved the Irwin Allen vibe when you were working on SeaQuest. You just reminded me that I was thinking the same thing watching it on NBC!
    You're also inspiring me to build my robot. I knew about Tena Controls' light kit, but not Starling Technology's. I like to design my own lighting, but off-the-shelf frees me to get creative with some other aspect of the model.

    Happy New Year Phil, hope you are well! I for one did not know this robot was (called) B-9. But then again I have not seen Lost in Space for a very long time! looking forward to see how it turns out.

    Glad to see you build this kit, Phil.
    I've come close to ordering the Deluxe kit with the improved seamless clear dome but always thought that if I wanted a B9 it would have to be 1/1 scale.
    The Moebius 1/35 Jupiter 2 was the kit that got me back into the hobby in 2018 after forty years. Built in flight with lighting. I believe you have seen the video of it. It is a great model and have a second kit for legs deployed.
    I have the Jupiter, four feet away as I write with the fusion core running and imagine how completely full blown ape my eight year old self in 1969 would be seeing this model.

    Great job ., Nice solution on those seams in the tread section. I just built 3 of these and that part is always a pain in the neck.

    Hey Phil has anyone tried to mod the robot fee and make treds move by cutting them off tracing them with tank wheels and drive cogs and tracks and motorize them?

      I don’t know but if it can be done there are some amazing modeling folk in Japan who have already created louvered bay door that open and close on the big Seaview Sub - so who knows!

    I grew up loving Irwin Allen. I us to build Jupiter 2s using paper plates as a kid, cutting out landing legs on the bottom. At 60 now I have bought the B9, The two sizes of the Chariot the flying sub, also made with small plates as a kid, the Seaview. All sitting on the shelf stash.
    I enjoy your 'blo-vating', lol. Look to get back to regular model building, caught in 3d printing. I make about a 36" Star Trek Phoenix.

    Looking good so far. I'm hoping to build one of these soon as well and just got the tenacontrols kit. And as for the vinyl there was a guy in the Cultvman FB group who just did a light dusting of krylon steel which looked great, and he had no issue with flaking.

    The main lights do not flash green and red. They are white.

    Oh man I had a problem trying to get the paint to stay on, I used adhesion promoter and then car interior gray fabric paint and the color I chose was perfect and the paint finally stayed put lol. Are you going to use the glass dome kit? Just putting it out there,...I used a thick stock styrene sheet and cut it to fit inside the B-9 to where the sheet sat on the first inner rib ledge this way I was able to sit my circiut board on it in case I need to get to it later if you don't glue down the neck down on the B-9.

      The paint sticks a lot better if you use fine steel wool on the vinyl parts to take off the glossy finish. I paint them with a combination of Stynelrez black and silver primer with a clear satin coat on top.

      @reluctantme5183 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@geminibuildups1966 I agree with pre/steel wooling the glossy finish with vinyl parts. The Masudaya B9 Robot I did back in the day had vinyl issues like this Moebius part. Creating a little bit of a toothy texture can't hurt. 🖖

    • @geminibuildups1966
      @geminibuildups1966 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@reluctantme5183 I haven't had the flaking problem on the Moebius parts when I used the steel wool. Ive built a few of the Masudaya B9s and Robby's over the years . Those were easier to paint. I didnt like the accordian arms on the B9 much. The Moebius kit is much better .

    I want one!
    Question. You mention “Adhesion Promotor” for the vinyl. What product are you using? I have a Sofubi thing I want to paint (which I believe is “soft pvc vinyl”?). Would love to find a way to use my Vallejo, rather than having to buy a bunch of specialty paints for one small project.
    Thanks in advance. I’ve been watching for a couple years now, and dig your stuff.
