Freya deserves a lot of credit for allowing herself to be filmed during such a nerve wracking experience! She is clearing going to be a very good and safe driver when she passes her test
You'd be a really good teacher for people with autism or other neurodivergent conditions. The way you describe things and speak is very easy on the ears and brain.
I also just really appreciate the little things he points out, like “what would you normally be doing today.” and then explains why some of the video is cut out. Very nice to make us feel familiar with every little possibility, helps me feel prepared!
Finally passed last week with 0 minors after 12 years of on and off learning! I wanted to give a little something to say thank you! As many people on this channel will agree, your videos were invaluable at supporting my learning- it’s clear how passionate you are and how much effort goes into your content and making it as accessible as possible to different levels of experience By using your tips I was even able to impress my instructor at times (I recommend people to check out your roundabout/mini roundabout lessons in particular) Weirdly, on my first test attempt in the morning, I was 5 mins from returning to the test centre when the dashboard warning lights lit up like a Christmas tree! Of all the things to prepare for, a fault with the car wasn’t one I had considered! Even the examiner was stumped. The test had to be terminated (I was on track for a strong pass) but luckily the car was repaired and I was able to do a second test in the afternoon! 😅 not sure if anyone has had this before? Anyway, good luck to anyone on this channel still on their learner journey, thanks again! 🎉
Thank you so much for your generosity! Having a car fail during the driving test is very unfortunate, it's good to hear you could do it in the afternoon. I've not heard of someone else being able to have a test in the afternoon after a problem with a car. Congratulations on passing! Hi, in my opinion Freya started at 10:00 in the middle lane which (according to the marking) allowed only to go straight ahead, 2nd exit. When entering the roundabout, she didn't go into the correct lane, but drove into the lane right next to this lane which physically also led to the 3rd exit. She should've initially taken the rightmost lane up to the 2nd exit, then signalled left and spiraled out. A bit complicated, but I love roundabouts...@@giovanniiiiillx

The type of Sat Nav they use on test does tell you which way to turn at roundabouts and the exit number. The second exit on a roundabout could be left, straight on or right depending on road layout. However on test Sat Nav says Go left, Cross the roundabout or Go right followed by 1st, 2nd, 3rd etc. exit. This helps sort out lane choice significantly. If the Sat Nav wanted you to do a U turn it would say Go around the roundabout 3rd, 4th, 5th exit etc.. The actual route as on your unit and the unit on test is displayed as a graphic map with diagram of the layout.
About a week prior to my driving test I started watching all your tips which helped me pass my test first time without a problem you truly did help me conquer driving, Cheers Richard Big love from Australia.
Hi, I'm back again. Just passed my theory today and did my first mock test with my instructor. 10 driver faults and 1 serious ain't too bad, especially as pretty much every fault was observation related. Easily fixed. I'd like to thank this channel again for being such a positive learning resource. I don't think I'd be this confident without your help from halfway across the country ❤

Good attempt Freya. Amazing car control for stretching to reach the clutch. A few missed mirror checks; merging lanes, parked cars, change of speed limit; but getting there.
She doesn't look that short! She was really stretching for those pedals. Reminds me of short (mostly women) riders of motorcycles. It's hard for me as a tall person to understand just how much more skill it takes.
Like you said 1500 examiners and allthough they have guidelines they all have there own slant on a test .Well done to your pupil for taking that pressure .. A good safe driver in the making..
Thanks so much for all your driving tips. I learnt how to drive a Mannual car from watching your video, being used to driving automatic cars over the past 10 years, but faced with the fact that I have to learn how to drive a mannual and workout the routes in the UK, your videos were of so much value to my passing my test with just 2 minor fault yesterday. Meanwhile, I drove in Gateshead without the Sat Nav. Thank you so much...❤❤❤❤
The road markings on and before the roundabout at 9.10 are definately altered from the original design. Left lanes have been hatched out at times on the circle, then re-open and the middle lane as driven seem to feed to that righthand exit correctly. Definately not clear. This is tricky for anyone unfamilier with the layout and the same types of changes unfortunately reoccurs throughout the UK. Signage and road markings not reinforcing each other. If you are lucky enough for either to be present.
The fact that windy, hilly, narrow country roads have a 60MPH limit, and it's considered safe, is wild. Most highways here in the US are 55. 50 on backroads is pushing it in most places
I learned parking reference point from your video and it is very useful! I have passed my practice test in April. Thank you so much. Even though I passed, I would continue to see your videos.😊
Thank you! Your videos really help me to understand many skills and get the reference point easily. I recommend the videos to all my friends who are learning driving. Support and bless you!

Hi Rich, I passed today, first time with 7 minor faults. I gotta thank you for making these videos as I didn't always have a car in this journey but was still itching to learn. 😆
Your videos helped me pass, especially over taking/changing lanes and enough space. I'd watch videos before every lesson and before my test a few weeks ago
Been waiting for you to post a new video so I can say thanks for all the amazing and informative content! I passed last week (16th may) on my first attempt with 4 minors! Watching your videos has been so helpful on top of my lessons! Keep up thr good work 👏 😁
9:49 how is she in the wrong lane at the roundabout when the dotted lane she stayed in went all the way round to the exit without going off into another exit? Also all the large arrows pointed forward (none indicated a right turn) and the sign for the roundabout showed equally thick lines for each exit. Thanks Edit: I see how the 12 o’clock rule might explain this but surely each roundabout’s signs can be used to correctly use it
The driver is in the middle lane which is marked to follow the road ahead and turned right. The lane to her right is also marked as able to follow the road ahead. This can easily cause a crash with someone who might have used the right-hand lane to follow the road ahead. In my experience, faults like this have been marked as both a serious for markings and a serious for mirrors change direction, so even if she did notice and check the mirrors on the roundabout, I don't think it's passable.
@@user-mv5zt8qd9l in your example though, wouldn’t that mean the person in the right hand lane who’s trying to exit at the road ahead is not following the 12 o’clock rule so could be at fault? On second review, maybe she should have taken up the left hand lane once she entered the roundabout if she was starting in the middle lane? Maybe that’s what Richard meant
Think abit of work needed on not coasting when slowing down, seems to be keeping the foot on the clutch and on the break. Worth practicing slowing down and changing down to a lower gear and then clutch and break when coming to a stop but otherwise pretty good, good luck with your test 🙌
Besides the entertainment value, I think the examiner RP can really help pupils understand what it feels like on a real test. Even though you have broken character a couple of times, so good effort. I can't believe action cameras can't record for longer than 30 minutes though. 😆
I feel like the The roundabout at 10minutes is a fail anyways as there were three lanes. The left most lane was left only. So she was in lane 1 for straight on on approach and the right most lane is the lane 2 for straight on. So after the first exit, she should have already gone the the left most lane on the roundabout straight away, but she went into the middle lane instead, which if there was a car in the right lane, she would have cut that car off at that point.
My wife's test examiner hadn't used deodorant and he smelt. It gave her headache and she failed her test. She passed eventually. I think examiners should check themselves and be at least clean and not wearing lots of aftershave or perfume either. It can be distracting being in a car with that.
That ending was brilliant 😂😂 But I'm curious @ 8:30 how it's a fault coz there's a road on the left before the exit, or perhaps since its a one way street the left signal wont be misleading. Interesting 😊
It's because the road joins after the exit rather than on the roundabout. The road sign indicates there is only one exit there and the road markings ahead shows the edge of the roundabout just before the lane splits (albeit the markings aren't the best). The first signal died and she forgot to reapply it on approach.
It's a one way street she is passing, no one should be coming out of that road. She needs the signal to help others joining the roundabout know she is leaving.
Hello Sir, I have been watching your videos for a year now. I want to request you to make a video on "How to drive a car with wing mirrors only". As most of the time, family members would be sitting at back seat which makes center rear view mirror ineffective. Looking forward for the video Regards, Baltej Singh
That roundabout in min 10:00 response to road markings, I get approaching in the lane that is for exist straight ahead but actually middle lane on roundabout she joined did lead her onto third exit as well (as the outer lane). So she did not even have to change lanes to exit roundabout. So lane was drawn in that way to lead you out straight or onto the next right exit. Is that really a mistake to follow that lane if she was indicating right?
It looks uncomfortable for her having to stretch for the clutch like that. Good that not all cars are like that as I'm a short person myself and I have to have the seat pulled all the way froward in my instructor's car
You didn't do anything to avoid the curb being hit by pulling the wheel toward it. It was fine and if it wasn't, the wheel grab wouldn't have saved it. 9:49 is also not a serious, the lane choice was fine.
@@ConquerDriving You surely can't fail somebody when they followed the lanes correctly. The markings on the lanes being questionable is another issue. I looked up the roundabout and I can see there are cars doing exactly the same thing, which doesn't necessarily mean it's correct but in this instance, it doesn't seem to be incorrect either.
Great video, as ever! I easily make mistakes when talking and driving at the same time. If the examiner chats with me, how to end the conversation as quickly as possible in a polite way?
I don't mean this to criticise the driver, but when she does the hill start she indicates. I was taught not too as your indicating to someone that you're going to cut them up. Its best not too and pull away when it's safe 🤷 though my test was 12 years ago 😂
I failed all 3 of my mock tests but did pass first time last year and learnt so much for my mocks. Richard have you a video of driving different cars? My cars gone in for repairs today and the insurance sent me to Enterprise and I’d asked for a small hire car but got upgraded to an SUV and so different to my little i10 but got home ok. I’m nervous about driving in the rush hour tomorrow and parking will be fun as seems such a huge car to me!
I had that happen to me! I drive an i10 and got upgraded to a much bigger car when hiring a car. I actually didn't find it much of an upgrade initially because I was so nervous about the big car. It did have a reversing camera and sensors though, so it was actually okay to park.
@@ruth649 I’m so use to my i10 automatic now and the Seat Arona seems huge in comparison! I drove home the back roads route carefully and it is a great car to drive but just not use to a big car. Not sure if I’ll be brave enough to drive it to work or not in the rush hour. This was the smallest automatic Enterprise had (I did pass manual but have fibromyalgia so automatic is a lot easier)
I have an i20 and there's no way I'd want to drive an SUV! Give me something small that doesn't need a few hundred quid to fill the tank of and that I can do a nice 3-point turn in a tight road with (as I had to do a few days ago after I took a wrong turn!).
@@Teverell Just glad this is a smaller SUV but still seems huge to me, love my i10. and it’s turning circle is good and yes easy to do 3 point turns and park too. I’ve not got a clue how I’ll park this tank and it might well stay sat on my drive until my cars repaired. I drove it home fine but quiet on the roads compared to the morning rush hour so think I’ll be getting a taxi for work but will go out locally when it’s quieter as might as well try the car out.
11:00-ish. If it's two lanes in and (briefly) two lanes out, wouldn't taking the right lane be an acceptable option? I didn't see a right-only arrow on the road.
I’ve got my test coming up shortly & I’m just wondering other than when doing your manoeuvre & pulling off when should you check over your shoulder as my instructor said it’s best to check your mirror & over your shoulder when lanes are merging is this correct & when else would you need to check over the shoulder?
she wasn't in the wrong lane at 10:40 tho? at start of island the left lane is for left only, she was in the middle lane which she could've gone second exit or third, why were you saying she was meant to be third lane, or am i tripping third lane was for 4th or u turn no?
Roundabouts don't have specific lanes for U turns. The left lane was for left 1st exit. The 2nd lane was for ahead 2nd exit and the right lane was for both ahead 2nd exit or right 3rd exit.
@@ConquerDriving I had to watch it a few times to understand the mistake . I'm not 100% sure but I think that for the exit she took , she should have gone for the left lane as soon as she entered the roundabout . On approach the left lane disappears after the 1st exit the middle becomes the left lane .
Freya seems already like a good driver aside from a bit more practice with some areas. She’s patient, observant etc. Please tell me she passed Richard?
You want to see harsh examiners? Come to RSA Killester Driving Test Centre, Dublin, Ireland they will let you know they take you tough routes which 50% of people would fail.

9:49 how is she in the wrong lane at the roundabout when the dotted lane she stayed in went all the way round to the exit without going off into another exit? Also all the large arrows pointed forward (none indicated a right turn) and the sign for the roundabout showed equally thick lines for each exit. Thanks
Edit: I see how the 12 o’clock rule might explain this but surely each roundabout’s signs can be used to correctly use it
That confused me too!
yeah, I was confused by that part as well. Especially since Richard mentions there could be a danger
I'm confused too. She took the wrong exit but looks to me she did it safely, I'm not sure what's caused the serious.
Good luck to everyone with upcoming tests. I hope you all pass! 😊
Think abit of work needed on not coasting when slowing down, seems to be keeping the foot on the clutch and on the break. Worth practicing slowing down and changing down to a lower gear and then clutch and break when coming to a stop but otherwise pretty good, good luck with your test 🙌
Richard definitely annoyed he failed at being an examiner right at the end 😂 love the vids keep them coming!
Also I would love to see the full debrief in future!
Dry steering may be frowned upon but there are times it must be done.
Besides the entertainment value, I think the examiner RP can really help pupils understand what it feels like on a real test. Even though you have broken character a couple of times, so good effort.
I can't believe action cameras can't record for longer than 30 minutes though. 😆
It's the DSLR I use as my main camera and sound that does 29 mins. That's normal for DSLRs though. It's benefits outweigh it's disadvantages for me.
"i'm sorry to say you've passed, wait, sorry, failed"
evil
lol
Jason was hilarious, poor Freya! 😂
Got my test tommorow morning so binge watching ahhh
How’s it go x
Ooh that kerb info is interesting; in Slovenia, if you hit one, you fail instantly 😬
Everyone parks on the pavement anyway but they'll fail you for brushing over the kerb. Actual clowns
That ending was brilliant 😂😂
But I'm curious @ 8:30 how it's a fault coz there's a road on the left before the exit, or perhaps since its a one way street the left signal wont be misleading.
I'm not really sure who the signal would be useful to anyway, especially when the driver is passing that road immediately after the exit?
It's a one way street she is passing, no one should be coming out of that road. She needs the signal to help others joining the roundabout know she is leaving.
37:26 almost like he wanted her to fail!
Hello Sir,
I have been watching your videos for a year now.
I want to request you to make a video on
"How to drive a car with wing mirrors only".
As most of the time, family members would be sitting at back seat which makes center rear view mirror ineffective.
Looking forward for the video
Regards,
Baltej Singh
That roundabout in min 10:00 response to road markings, I get approaching in the lane that is for exist straight ahead but actually middle lane on roundabout she joined did lead her onto third exit as well (as the outer lane). So she did not even have to change lanes to exit roundabout. So lane was drawn in that way to lead you out straight or onto the next right exit. Is that really a mistake to follow that lane if she was indicating right?
Hi Francis. Great mock test. Did you forget to ask a car knowledge test before driving off? Cheers
Got my first test on the 21st, and I'm a bag of nerves already.
Pretty challenging mock test i must say ..
05:44 I like how she says YES😂
It looks uncomfortable for her having to stretch for the clutch like that. Good that not all cars are like that as I'm a short person myself and I have to have the seat pulled all the way froward in my instructor's car
You didn't do anything to avoid the curb being hit by pulling the wheel toward it. It was fine and if it wasn't, the wheel grab wouldn't have saved it. 9:49 is also not a serious, the lane choice was fine.
Going right in the middle lane in that roundabout causes danger especially as the right lane can go ahead.
I think if you give one word answers they get the impression you don’t wanna talk and stop
I don't mean this to criticise the driver, but when she does the hill start she indicates. I was taught not too as your indicating to someone that you're going to cut them up. Its best not too and pull away when it's safe 🤷 though my test was 12 years ago 😂
Yeah I don't we base indicating on whether you're going to offend someone or not lmao.
14:43 what kind of monstrosity is this roundabout-ception 😭
I didn't see a right-only arrow on the road.
test next wednesday (same as england final...) COME ONNNN!!!! ❤😂🎉
Jason got that DVSA military training
Hello brother can you make a video u turn with pedal cam that would help me a lot. 🙂
I just passed my test last week😊
Freya is awesome
Freya seems already like a good driver aside from a bit more practice with some areas. She’s patient, observant etc. Please tell me she passed Richard?
i’m really confused about the first serious fault at the roundabout, could you explain? it looked safe
My mom has a similar problem - her feet have trouble depressing the clutch fully even with the seat fully up ahead. Any advice?
A cushion behind the seat may help. I would advise testing different cars and changing if possible.
You want to see harsh examiners? Come to RSA Killester Driving Test Centre, Dublin, Ireland they will let you know they take you tough routes which 50% of people would fail.
08:35 surely she signaled correctly as there is another turn there
Are you allowed to cross the solid white line of a bus lane to turn left and right and to enter a driveway?
Could you make a video on how you plan your routes and how you tailor it for each pupil's learning needs? Is it as straightforward as plotting it on a map or is there more to it?
Thank you for your suggestion. I may do in the future.
Passed today with 2 minors!
i have been watching your videos since I started learning to drive. I would like to request to take a mock test with you. I am planning to take my test as soon as possible as I feel I am ready for the test but would love to take a mock test with you and see where I am after taking 75-plus hours of driving lessons with my instructor. please give me a chance to take a mock test with you.
