Yup. I’m never renting a car when visiting the UK! 😳 (I live in the US, those super-narrow roads lined with parked cars where center dividing lines are completely optional really freaked me out!). I’ll bike, use public transportation, take a cab, or walk, thanks.
It's not everywhere that it's like that, and it's not too hard, you just hop into the side if there's a parked car on your side if someone comes and vice versa
8:08 - You can improve flow if you use a lane that's ahead only, as that frees up a lane for vehicles that want to make a turn, even if they could also go straight ahead. It also makes your intention clearer (also heard this suggestion from Ashley Neal)
Keep positive Sara, you will get there eventually. I noticed that several comments have been made about the narrowness of our UK roads. I suggest that those folk come down here to Devon. Driving in our lanes is REALLY challenging!! 'Narrow' hardly describes them. Anyway, another brilliant video from Aman and her 'Clearview Driving' school. What an excellent Driving Instructor, Aman is.
it's the stupidest thing about the UK we have small roads compared to the US and look at what they allow most 2 way roads become one way because of parking and most houses don't have a drive or garage yet house like 3 people that have cars inside 1 house.... That's what causes these streets.
I hated taking my driving test so stressful😅 (quick tip my driving instructor told me if your examiner asks you “are you happy” when doing a parking exercise ADJUST YOURSELF they want you to pass this is a hint that your not in the lines)
As an American this completely freaks me out the roads seem too small to even handle two cars at once let alone two cars parked on either side +2 trying to pass by
It saddens me of all the effort driving instructors go through for the learner to pass and then drive like a total goon with no road respect about 1 month later. The driving standards these days is shocking. Keep doing the good work and hopefully it sinks in for new learner's.

Im from germany and i find it so funny that brits seem to not move their head at any time. Like, we are schooled that every time you need to switch the lane, go around a corner and so on you check your mirrors AND then take a look over your shoulder so you dont miss someone.
Clearly a completely lack of confidence. That’s the dangerous part. In time that will get better with experience. I find when I drive in Europe, the drivers there are overly aggressive. When I drove in London for the first time , I noticed how the majority of people would “nudge” their way through traffic making way too many assumptions and not anticipating the potential acts of another. In this video, I saw scooters or motorcycles with the L placard and yet they drove like idiots being way too confident. I find in general the driving public to be overly agressive no matter where you drive. Just this ridiculous need to get there as quickly as possible. In the aviation world, if we took that approach, we would have a lot more deaths. Luckily, as pilots, we police ourselves and at least make an attempt to follow the rules. This is exactly why there will not be flying cars for a while lol.
9:58 even though she was shifting down to slow down, she wasnt doing it properly, since her foot is all the way down on clutch! 8:25 you cant rest your foot on the clutch pedal, this could wear down the clutch must faster!
Shifting down to come to a complete stop at a red light is unnecessary anyway and I think most driving schools handle it the way that the learner has to keep their foot on the clutch to be able to react quicker to getting a green light or similar.
@@howa_tcp2501 ah then it must be different in UK Because here in EU, we dont have to shift down to slow down, but we have to keep it in gear. Because coasting in neutral is not an option since it consumes fuel, at least that's what driving school taught me (engine brake)
It feels somewhat obvious in hindsight but as a motorcycle rider I never thought that the principle of "look where you want to go" applies to cars as well.
I always reverse into a parking space, I can use my morrows to guide me in and it makes it easier and safer to leave the parking bay owing to improved visibility and maneuverability when moving forward
Nice i got the 20th of september my license here in Amsterdam for the first time. It was hectic and busy but if you do it slow you have time for everything to focus. I love watching your videos
Sara seems too confident & lacks commitment to safer driving, it sounds odd this way but when you're cocky it may end up not good. Good she realises her weaknesses and hope she improves on them.
That’s true. I just started driving recently, got a bit too confident and accidentally hit a parked car near my house (no damage and the car owner was fine about it thankfully!) but it’s super important not to let confidence get the better of you, as I’ve learnt.
My granddaughter on the day of her test found a doberman puppy beside her car at the test centre, unfortunately the puppy had a skin problem and the examiner asked my granddaughter to not touch the puppy because of the skin condition. Upon return to the test centre the puppy was still there running around the car park causing cars to have to break and stop, the examiner told my granddaughter that the puppy was a source of bad luck as most of the people taking their test had failed whenever they doberman puppy was running around the test centre car park.
I feel like 'letting go of the steering wheel' AKA loosely holding it so it can slide back into center position, is a lot safer than feeding the wheel. Feeding the wheel is dangerous given you cannot steer into more heavy corners easily, it's not smooth at all and goes in shocks a lot. There's a higher chance you'll go wide, especially in tight turns. Therefore, progressive steering input whilst crossing your arms when going into a corner and 'letting go' when stopping your turning is a lot safer imo. Since you're still holding the wheel, you can grab tighter and adjust to anything instantly, with your hands already being in the optimal 9 & 3 position.
If you are going wide by feeding the wheel then you are taking the corner too quickly. Letting the wheel go back on its own is dangerous as you have no control over it. I think you need to re-evaluate your attitude to safe driving.
@@atcampbell123 no he is completely right, there's a reason no one shuffles the wheel as soon as they pass their test! It's not safe, especially in a bigger vehicle like a truck you have to turn the wheel so far you just can't keep up if you shuffle
@@Trucking_Tom Nonsense, I’m a bus driver, and I always feed the wheel. You are not in full control of the vehicle if you steer with one hand/ cross arms, and you are rushing corners. Any driving instructor will tell you this.
@@atcampbell123 not true any instructor will tell you that you can cross your arms, then once you pass they will say that doing slower tighter maneuvers spinning the wheel round with one hand is way safer as its smooth
I'm a scooter rider. I've made all my mistakes on the road. I'm ready to branch out to a car soon. Automatic though. Gears are too confusing. I feel my biggest problem will be getting used to a bigger vehicle. I was massively panicking my first time on the road on a scooter lmao. My dad rode behind me in his car first few times on the road. He would shield my right side for people stupidly overtaking. Starting small and having a supportive family is one of the most important thing in my opinion. I'll be joining y'all with a car soon aha.
Everybody has to start somewhere. While driving is physically much easier now with modern cars, the significant less opportunity to practice makes it tough for new drivers.
Even as a US driver I never understand why people can’t simply wait behind any kind of junction line. The lines are there for a reason and you need to stop before it. Not on it, not past it, before it. I may also be hyper aware of them because my dad was someone who painted them for many years. He did a lot of road work lines and Peking lot lines
I remember my first test, failed before even getting out of the test centre car park because i didn't look left when there was nothing even to the left but a steep grass verge, my instructor wanted to punch the examiners face in lol
No issues with that, clearance is very important, at least 3 foot for passing a stationary vehicle and 6 foot for a cyclist/motor cyclist, if not possible proceed very slowly and take extra care
Should they have not been in the bus lane at 18:14 and moved to the "middle" lane? Is that why that was a serious for lane discipline because of the solid white line?
This has helped me understand why we do certain things. I'm currently experiencing motion sickness in pregnancy so can't practice 😫 but hopefully if I watch these till I'm ready to continue then I will pass xx
2:30 I was always taught to let the power steering return the wheel to straight after a turn. This is the first time im hearing you should manually return it. It would seem to me this would result in less smooth driving.
I dont know about UK, but here in Bosnia, not yielding to pedestrians at the roundabout (timestamp 15:08) is automatic fail of the test (negative 100 points). Law regarding roundabout traffic here states yield to pedestrians first, then yield to traffic inside roundabout, and only then you can enter. And we are not required to use indicators when we enter, only when we need to indicate our exit. Also I'd teach candidates how to steer hand over hand when they steer. Cranking the steering wheel while holding hands 9-3 line is inefficient i.e. you cannot steer fast enough in tight turns.
Driving in the UK is so weird for me, narrow roads, cars always parked on the side of the road. I used to play a game a called Forza Horizon 4 which is based in London and I always struggled a bit in intersections.
What makes me laugh is that people get freaked out when they have to drive with full awareness. Do you guys not need to concentrate when you drive in your own countries? Too much speed on the road freaks me out
The thing to remember is that when you have passed your test, you have been able to prove you can drive to the standard required, but your learning has just begun, consider taking an advanced driving course and stay sharp.
Not from UK and I forced myself, but couldn't rewire my brain to convince myself we were actually not cruising in the wrong lane thowards oncoming traffic. I couldn't turn off the blairing alarms in my head. I am sitting on my couch at home and yet my cortisol levels are through the roof.
Passed back in October but still watch to learn tips but sometimes seeing those things that I now know will become little mistakes is hilarious when watching the driving instructors face🤣 12:2713:2514:22 to name a few
Got confused for a second when she said she was driving on the overpassing lane, then I remembered in the UK that's on the right while in Italy, my country, it's on the left 😂
Question from the states: Is there any initiative to widen your roads or change the way people are allowed to park? Do you guys notice the difficulty in driving when the roads have cars parked on boths sides and the lanes are blocked enough that it's effectively a one lane road with traffic coming from both sides? Or is it second nature by now? Also, what do you do if you meet up with someone going th opposite way in a street with only the middle open? Who gives way?
No, we don't need or want US roads that are seemingly designed for everyone driving a Humvee. Who gives way isn't an exact science, it will depend on the common sense, courtesy and sense of self entitlement of the drivers involved.
No because people and pedestrians are more important than cars in towns. Towns are for people not cars and the fact it's the other way around in the US is why I would never live there
Thank you so much I just had my test at Yeading test centre and passed :)). These videos have been so helpful especially watching Lovejits drives, I hope he has passed.
HOLD UP the fact that this person is driving a MANUAL transmission just shows how much more skill this person actually has when initially learning, having to worry about not rolling backwards down a hill or trying to have a fast yet smooth start from a stop light while worrying about other traffic, takes much different skill than a driver with an automatic transmission
@@that_one_pepsi_addict Hm.. I think it depends on the parents, most teenagers nowadays have to go through Behind the Wheel and the cars that they have are automatic, unless it varies by location?
@@yuunihd can I ask what country you live? In the UK very large majority drive manual. In Europe they are very common too. I have found when I've been driving in the USA most people in the USA, Canada and Australia drive auto. I currently live in Asia and again some drive auto but personally I drive a manual in Asia too. I think it more depending on the country and how common auto Vs manual are.
9:59 Seems off to me. I mean its difficult for me to say which gear she is currently using sometimes due to left-side driving but I know for sure it was not right. Shifting sounded and looked very weird and it seems she changed gear like 3 or 4 times over that short span before stopping. She should just go 2nd gear, brake and use motor braking without pressed clutch, stop and press clutch before stalling, neutral, leave the clutch unpressed while at stop and when green comes push the clutch and 1st gear and quickly go 2nd gear. You do not hold clutch while waiting for a green to come. (its safer and not wears down the clutch) Also, you should not press the clutch and gas pedal at the same time. 13:39 Seems to me she had it completely under her control 14:10 in our country we are required to "safeproof" with a handbrake before it is considered completed parking 14:30 Agree, why do 2nd gear when you instantly have to stop at a junction? 22:12 Turn signal too late. First she should go for left turn single to show she is stopping to park, and after checking her mirrors right turn signal. Or only do right turn signal while slightly slowing down, checking your mirrors and park it without needless stopping. But you cant stop without signaling. And you do not need to open the door to see she parked very poorly and over the line. Its obvious. 24:20 It is possible to drive off with 2nd gear...even with 3rd lol if you are brave enough(I did it while learning bc I shifted to 3rd instead of 1st) lol you just need to add gas to compensate. But it is not recommended nor should you do it. Another mistake is she reversed a little bit which is a no-no Overall smooth and calm ride with a few small mistakes. But I wonder...why to learn her only front side parking and not reverse? I mean trained monkey can park front with that much space. I think your tests are way way better than US ones from what I heard, but I still think ours are way more complicated if you do them in our capital city. Number of complicated junctions etc. To be fair maybe way less complicated in small towns but there you have to ride fast and not slow down the traffic so I really cant judge how would she cope with that.
is it bad that over 30 years ago i took my test in my mothers car that i was not insured to drive (had driven to the test center alone because my driving instructor had double booked) there was no working handbrake on the car so hill start was fun.. and i only drove for 20 mins before i was told congratulations you have passed you test head back to test center :) when taking your test adust all your mirrors so that you have to move you head to look into them this way the instructor can see you using your mirrors.
I don't think I could do this job, my anxiety was so high the whole time. Not to mention the lack of space on the roads. Americans would definitely get in way more accidents if our roads were like this.
Hi, I'm a learner driver with about 10 hours of lessons so far. I'd be concerned at 17:22 because imagine the bus lane was being used - where would you go? It doesn't look like there's quite enough space to have the bus lane and two more cars in that width EDIT: It must be how the camera makes it look. Just a few seconds later you see cars overtaking with more cars to the right of them.

@@R4m4. yuuup. I do totally get why people stick with bad instructors though
@@R4m4. i passed :D
Passed yesterday with two minors, and these videos helped so much!!🥳
Well done!! That’s great 😃
Thank you for watching :)
'I' passed yesterday,
I just passed mine yesterday and I feel so good now I can watch these without stress😭
Haha same passed on the Friday just gone.
I find that so strange that you can park in the UK almost everywhere!
Look at that street in 4:12 unbelievable.
She didn’t park there she just stopped to let the buss pass by
where im from its also common to park like that, EXCEPT you usually park over the curb so theres way more space
@@ed_iz_ed yh but not when there’s yellow line across the street (next to the curb) or when it’s a bus stop
Only in cities, I live in the country and alot of aces we cant park
it's the stupidest thing about the UK we have small roads compared to the US and look at what they allow most 2 way roads become one way because of parking and most houses don't have a drive or garage yet house like 3 people that have cars inside 1 house.... That's what causes these streets.
This is a really educative material for learner driver. She did quite well. If I were her, I would make 19 serious.
I hated taking my driving test so stressful😅 (quick tip my driving instructor told me if your examiner asks you “are you happy” when doing a parking exercise ADJUST YOURSELF they want you to pass this is a hint that your not in the lines)
Your facial reactions to her mistakes are so funny 😂
She look shady but apperantly not .lol
so crazy to think that all I had to do to get my US license was drive around in a parking lot and do some basic driving maneuvers.
That’s crazy. Is us license that easy to get? In the uk where I’m from it’s so intensive and much harder to get a licence.
@@divine2297 it depends on state. Where I’m from you are tested on the roads not parking lot.
As an American this completely freaks me out the roads seem too small to even handle two cars at once let alone two cars parked on either side +2 trying to pass by
The trick is to not have a gigantic fucking truck
Indian roads are more challenging than this.
4:13 - That was cute how the bus blinked
@Nick that's not just in the UK then, the us does this too.
I have just read the posting of Sara's successful Driving Test result. Congratulations to her. Another feather in your cap Aman!!
We are taught to let the wheel slide back straight and I can say it works a lot better compared to turning it back. Hands and cupped
It saddens me of all the effort driving instructors go through for the learner to pass and then drive like a total goon with no road respect about 1 month later. The driving standards these days is shocking. Keep doing the good work and hopefully it sinks in for new learner's.
They do get paid
yeah , my friend passed recently , and speeds down narrow roads like these all the time, tried to put some sense into her but she won't listne
@@isabella7131 Wait until she gets a ticket or has an accident, the speed awareness course is really good and thought provoking. Also this is why young drivers insurance is so high..!
@@RoxusRemo yeah lol, she complains about the insurance costs but she's responsible for how high they are
@isabella7131 the test is useful., my granddaughter found a doberman puppy beside her car on the day of her test. The examiner asked her not to touch the puppy as it had skin problems. When they returned to the test centre they puppy was still there. The examiner told my granddaughter that the puppy was a source of bad luck because many people failed that day.
I just passed my theory last week first time! Been taking lessons since just after Xmas, first theory is in June I’m so nervous hopefully I can get good tips from yourself and pass it just in time for my bday 😀
She is driving VERY well for such shit roads and inconsiderate pedestrians!
bro if these are shit roads, i honestly do not know what the roads in my country should be called
wut? We get people straight up leaning on your car to pass while you are waiting in queue where I live...
you have no idea what you are saying if you think those are shit roads 😂
@@ed_iz_ed yeah, they look somewhat well maintained...
Shit roads? R u serious? Come to latin America. Here the streets, pedestrians & other drivers, doesn't respect anything.
Just passed my test yesterday with 2 minors!! who ever has got their test coming up my advice is honestly dont stress it im im very bad with anxiety, and the examiner's are really not their to hope you fail they want you to pass. Its all in our heads that the mention of the word (test) makes a lot of us panic i think. Good luck to everybody 😊
Congratulations👏👏Very impressive! How have you been getting on with driving since?
Just passed my test almost 2 hours ago. My greatest tip is to PRAY, revise and practice Jesus has your back you are not alone. Also if you think you’ve failed don’t stress just ask for Gods grace and favour over your results and STAY CALM. Also these videos are amazinggggg.
Well done 👏 and congratulations 🎊
Driving looks so easy but its not that easy because when you are on the road you need full attention and no hesitation
I always misunderstood that driving in India is really hard, but it isn't easy driving in such town where traffic is really disciplined ... 👍🏽👍🏽
Pedestrians are always challenge because they can take U turns and even 270 degree turn......And drivers are always at fault as per the law😂
Im from germany and i find it so funny that brits seem to not move their head at any time. Like, we are schooled that every time you need to switch the lane, go around a corner and so on you check your mirrors AND then take a look over your shoulder so you dont miss someone.
I’m American, but I long to visit and someday live in the UK. I will be looking you up when that time comes to help me learn to drive there!
While driving in India it is a game of connfidence
Your faces when she gets so close to the car makes me laugh 😂when you’re trying not to lose your shit
😳😬😬
9:58
even though she was shifting down to slow down, she wasnt doing it properly, since her foot is all the way down on clutch!
8:25
you cant rest your foot on the clutch pedal, this could wear down the clutch must faster!
Shifting down to come to a complete stop at a red light is unnecessary anyway and I think most driving schools handle it the way that the learner has to keep their foot on the clutch to be able to react quicker to getting a green light or similar.
@@howa_tcp2501 ah then it must be different in UK
Because here in EU, we dont have to shift down to slow down, but we have to keep it in gear.
Because coasting in neutral is not an option since it consumes fuel, at least that's what driving school taught me (engine brake)
It feels somewhat obvious in hindsight but as a motorcycle rider I never thought that the principle of "look where you want to go" applies to cars as well.
Yes it’s the same! 😅
I passed in the first attempt. Watched plenty of videos before the test. Thanks for the videos.
#28:50 too shy to look 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 🤭 you cracked me up!!! LIKED 👍🏽 SHARED, RECOMMENDED, AND A BIG SUB X
And still drives better than half the people on the road!
Your videos are a good balance of entertaining and informative so thank you
Thank you :) glad they are helpful
So many cars parked on 2-lane roads making them 1 lane! How the hell is this allowed? Mind-blowing.
@@atcampbell123 a bus handles differently to a car..
I'll be joining y'all with a car soon aha.
love to see the city in this vids ! Here in sweden we dont have those roundabouts or how you spell it haha
Thanks. Live in US and our driving style is different. Nice to see a little of how you're supposed to drive somewhere else
I have mock test coming up These are good pointers to see You are a really good instructor 🙏
Funnily enough learning in Germany I was asked to let the steering weel glide back to the normal position
I dont think i could ever drive the roads in the uk. Anxiety galore!
I don't think I could let my child near an American school either. I feel ya
This reminds me of the time my mom just had gotten her driver's license, it was scary 😂
Safe to do so as long as you are sure no one is going to step out from behind the bus in front of you.
Thanks , the idea of hanging the scores over the screen while the mistakes take place is good idea , thanks
theses videos are a real boost for me who wants to go visit the uk, gives me hint of what to do in certain situations in a country i dont really know
No issues with that, clearance is very important, at least 3 foot for passing a stationary vehicle and 6 foot for a cyclist/motor cyclist, if not possible proceed very slowly and take extra care
I got my license today, but I’m gonna keep watching these vids, cause they’re really interesting
Well done!! :)Thank you for watching
Should they have not been in the bus lane at 18:14 and moved to the "middle" lane? Is that why that was a serious for lane discipline because of the solid white line?
Sara was allowed to be n in the bus lane, but she was in between the two lanes for a while
This has helped me understand why we do certain things. I'm currently experiencing motion sickness in pregnancy so can't practice 😫 but hopefully if I watch these till I'm ready to continue then I will pass xx
Got my test tomorrow and I don't think I've ever been so nervous
Good luck, you can do this
I has my test this morning and passed you got this!!

@@ukzcal2573 well done that's amazing, what Park did you get 😀
@@Kenya331 congrats 👏
2:30 I was always taught to let the power steering return the wheel to straight after a turn. This is the first time im hearing you should manually return it. It would seem to me this would result in less smooth driving.
must be terrifying sometimes! respect for always keeping it cool
Cranking the steering wheel while holding hands 9-3 line is inefficient i.e. you cannot steer fast enough in tight turns.
iz Hr sam i gledam ovo. pala bi ne samo na tome nego i na činjenici da mrtvi kut provjerava točno nikad lmao
Driving in the UK is so weird for me, narrow roads, cars always parked on the side of the road. I used to play a game a called Forza Horizon 4 which is based in London and I always struggled a bit in intersections.
It ain't based in London it's in the country side
What makes me laugh is that people get freaked out when they have to drive with full awareness. Do you guys not need to concentrate when you drive in your own countries? Too much speed on the road freaks me out
Forza horizon 4 isn't based in london💀it's base in Edinburgh.....
If you went to Edinburgh you would know that it's from there😐
Your facial expressions during the mistakes are sending me 😂
I'm not from the UK, been driving for over 5 years, I say she did good for most of the parts
The thing to remember is that when you have passed your test, you have been able to prove you can drive to the standard required, but your learning has just begun, consider taking an advanced driving course and stay sharp.
i might start to drive soon so being able to see how her feet look when she brakes and starts driving again is very helpful
She’s doing very good. I can only hope she does her driving test with absolute confidence and passes first time.
Omg thank goodness I live In United States, these roads look just too difficult and confusing
As a Brit that has done a fair bit of driving in the US, I find US roads way more confusing. My brain doesn't like grid systems of roads at all!
It's just unfamiliar to us because we didn't grow up with it. I'm sure it'd be a bit easier if you lived there all your life 😛
Not from UK and I forced myself, but couldn't rewire my brain to convince myself we were actually not cruising in the wrong lane thowards oncoming traffic.
I couldn't turn off the blairing alarms in my head. I am sitting on my couch at home and yet my cortisol levels are through the roof.
Passed back in October but still watch to learn tips but sometimes seeing those things that I now know will become little mistakes is hilarious when watching the driving instructors face🤣 12:27 13:25 14:22 to name a few
'I' passed back...
Got confused for a second when she said she was driving on the overpassing lane, then I remembered in the UK that's on the right while in Italy, my country, it's on the left 😂
I like watching these even though I don't really need any of the information for driving in the UK
That's looks a challenging test route.
Manual isn’t difficult
I think most people learn in a manual
@@that_one_pepsi_addict Hm.. I think it depends on the parents, most teenagers nowadays have to go through Behind the Wheel and the cars that they have are automatic, unless it varies by location?
@@yuunihd can I ask what country you live? In the UK very large majority drive manual. In Europe they are very common too. I have found when I've been driving in the USA most people in the USA, Canada and Australia drive auto. I currently live in Asia and again some drive auto but personally I drive a manual in Asia too. I think it more depending on the country and how common auto Vs manual are.
@@bradleymaguire7179 Ah that makes sense, I live in the US.
She's learning on a amazing car I learned on a 80s car 😂😂🤣
13:39 Seems to me she had it completely under her control
14:10 in our country we are required to "safeproof" with a handbrake before it is considered completed parking
14:30 Agree, why do 2nd gear when you instantly have to stop at a junction?
Another mistake is she reversed a little bit which is a no-no
Overall smooth and calm ride with a few small mistakes.
These mock test are really helpful!! for my upcoming test. Thanks Amin👍🏼👍🏼

is it bad that over 30 years ago i took my test in my mothers car that i was not insured to drive (had driven to the test center alone because my driving instructor had double booked) there was no working handbrake on the car so hill start was fun.. and i only drove for 20 mins before i was told congratulations you have passed you test head back to test center :) when taking your test adust all your mirrors so that you have to move you head to look into them this way the instructor can see you using your mirrors.
That is bad. I wonder how many accidents could have been prevented if our elders gave a fuck
This is very helpful, thank you!
I don't think I could do this job, my anxiety was so high the whole time. Not to mention the lack of space on the roads. Americans would definitely get in way more accidents if our roads were like this.
Streets in UK are crazy compared to the us lol so narrow and it seems like there’s cars everywhere
Hi, I'm a learner driver with about 10 hours of lessons so far. I'd be concerned at 17:22 because imagine the bus lane was being used - where would you go? It doesn't look like there's quite enough space to have the bus lane and two more cars in that width
EDIT: It must be how the camera makes it look. Just a few seconds later you see cars overtaking with more cars to the right of them.
