    Think I’d do the clasp only - just because the clasp is really vulnerable to knocks / scratches. Wouldn’t bother with the rest. Good comparison video though.

      In a way, I agree, in some cases though I think this is a good idea. If you have a vintage watch but want to wear it and protect its condition (especially if the eye is mint), these make a lot of sense. I've seen this a lot in the car industry for rare vintage cars, a lot of the time they apply a paint protection film. Since if the car's paint is in excellent condition, you want to protect it to avoid the fragile paint getting damaged. Especially in high wear areas.
      In my opinion however if you use these on a modern watch it doesn't make sense, as long as you are careful all that needs to be done when you resell it is have it serviced and polished at an AD.

    Lots of people don’t like this. I found your review great. I agree with people you should just wear your watches. But I put this on my meteorite Pepsi. Figured I wanted my watch looking prime. And honestly you can’t even see the stickers they fit so perfectly. And I put full ppf on my Ferrari F8 and you can’t even see it so why not do the same for my favorite watch.

Watches are something I enjoy, I collect (I have several Rolex pieces, a Patek etc), and like to use and wear them without them being covered in stickers that collect dirt, look strange and start to peel. My watches do collect minor scratches and that is ok, they are meant to be used and that adds to the character. I also don’t buy as an investment or to re sell. You can always get dents micro welded if you so wish. A phone on the other hand (to me) is just a disposable tool that I have no connection with at all and if it gets damaged, it is insured and gets replaced. I hope you have a great day Ralf.

    no way I would ever put on something like this to dull the looks of my collection. if someone cannot enjoy their purchases comfortably without worrying about value, it means they made an irresponsible purchase for their given financial position at that particular time. watches are not investments; they are toys we buy for fun with disposable entertainment budget. if someone is so worried about tiny scratches, don't buy the watch, invest the money until you are in a financial position to enjoy the watch when value of this watch is no longer meaningful to you. i am not saying this to show off, i've personally passed on many watches because i couldn't comfortably write off the price as unnoticeable.

    • @koolpep
      @koolpep 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think you also have to consider that some people buy - let’s say an OP41 turquoise- and a 6k euro watch turns into a 25k euro watch after a few months of the release. While you can comfortably dismiss 6k - it’s now worth 5x. And that alone can make people uncomfortable. I know - 1st world problems. But the watch world is crazy. 🤷🏼‍♂️

    • @koolpep
      @koolpep 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Alternatively there are also people who just don’t like scratches on their watches. 🤷🏼‍♂️ rather than scratching and then polishing it - they use stickers nobody can see from a distance. Why not? It’s the owners prerogative.

    • @OperationNonsense
      @OperationNonsense 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@koolpep I hear what you are saying, and I partially agree with you. Nearly all my pieces had appreciated greatly in value, but since watches are not investments, I still wear them normally as if they are worth the same price I paid for them before the market went nuts; resale value is meaningless if watches are not mistreated as investments.
      As to OCD collectors who cannot stand any scratches - well, if someone is neurotic to that level, they no longer own their watches but their watches own them. And where’s the joy in that, if you are emotionally burdened by the fear of damaging something that’s supposed to bring you happiness?
      I completely agree with what you said, it’s their own prerogative. I am just throwing out a different philosophy, perhaps more people can enjoy wearing watches if they stop worrying about things that shouldn’t matter.

    Watches are NOT investment grade assets, they might appreciate / retain some of their value but 99% are just luxury items that are currently in high demand which can not be relied on for long term outlook (although it seems the bubble is starting to shrink).
